NAD T760 A/V Receivers
NAD T760 A/V Receivers

Audiophile
Strength:
Huge soundstage, crunching quick low bass, detailed midrange.
Weakness:
Different (european) sound many americans may have trouble getting used to after being taken over by the japanese. Acutally I have one on back order and should get one in less than two weeks. Review of sound is based on owning some NAD separates. I will update later on this particular unit, but I am 99% sure it will have a very similar sound. Similar Products Used: NAD separates. |

Strength:
Great sounding two-channel stereo (unusual for many HT receivers)
Weakness:
Weak remote - especially through glass in stereo cabinet. Note to "Deep Throat" - review of 1/8/01...Are you out there?? |

Are you 'no sub out in stereo mode' people listening to CD audio via the T760's CD input jacks, ie analog RCA jacks? (I know how obvious this sounds). |

This receiver is smooth and detailed. HT and Music sound great and I enjoy the style of the unit. |

Strength:
Stereo sound, design
Weakness:
Sub crossover not adjustable, delay when switching modes, speaker connectors a little cheap, remote not very responsive I wanted to replace my Audiosource amp with the T760 to to add home theater features. As I mostly listen to music the reviews here encouraged me to select this model. Having heard it, I would switch just for the improvement in stereo sound, which was a big step up. Strength:
Straighforward to use. High quality sound.
Weakness:
Sub-woofer not active in stereo mode. I bought this receiver sight unseen (nobody locally could stock) after having heard the T770. I am very impressed with the sound quality for both audio and video listening. In the NAD tradition, this is a very straightforward receiver that is easy to use by all family members. The main drawback I have encountered is difficulty using subwoofer in stereo mode. I ended up using both the sub-out and speaker level feeds for the sub which requires sub volume re-adjustment when switching to/from stereo mode. (NAD technical support was very responsive from the e-mail on their web-site when I was trying to figure this out). |

Strength:
Extremely clean and stable power into all kinds of loads. About as good an audio section as you can get.
Weakness:
Video throughput quality isn't the best I've seen. Can't easily use subwoofer in stereo mode, though it can be done. I'm a professional film score mixer and audio mixer and have been using NAD amplification (2600A) for years to reference mixes at home through KEF 104.2, Vandersteen 2Ci and Wharfedale EM-93 speakers. With the exception of Bryston or Boulder, nothing beats NAD, and surely nothing beats NAD for the price.... for audio. Their video is a bit funny ergonomically, and there seems to be some coloration issues on the monitor out. A good receiver, from an audio guy's point of view, should produce unity gain throughput, meaning if a -10db signal is put in, at a pre-out point, a -10db signal should come out. NAD does this, but not with video. What comes out has a darker contrast and coloration than the original, and while I may have some settings out of whack (being, as I said, an audio guy), it should work out of the box. If you can find this receiver for under $900, I do think it's a great buy. Similar Products Used: NAD 2600A, Denon AV-5700 |

Strength:
Sound quality. All discrete transistor power amp section. Simplicity.
Weakness:
No CD digital input (761 fixes this). Can only pick a radio station by scrolling through all 30 presets. Scrolling thru station presets via remote is flaky (sometimes hitting preset +/- doesn't select the next radio station preset - NOTE TO NAD FIRMWARE GUY THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CURRENT STATION ISN'T TRANSMITTING RDS DATA, THE PROBLEM ISN'T IN THE REMOTE IT'S IN THE 760 ITSELF!!) So far a year and I'm still a happy customer; I'll stick with this unit for some time (and I'm a self-professed fickle picky bugger). Strength:
POWER. my oh my that power.... clarity, detail, simplicity.. brutal looks.. a "no fuss no´r extra features that i don´t use" kind of amplifier that DOES have all you need..
Weakness:
ok, so a variable sub x-over would be nice.. i dont need any but i think it would be a nice feature.. I love this machine. It sounds great, it has enough power to run a minor household, deosn´t break up (tonally) when I push it near max, it wasn´t any hard at all to comprehend menus(osd) or put up the Ht sets...
