Strength:

A lot of features, good remote, value for money

Weakness:

no on screen display, no THX, not enough power

Better than yamaha when it play music, while playing movies, similiar result.
Very good sound for low price! high built quality but not as good as the others reviewers say. But still best buy within the price range. I give five stars.

Be carefull when you buy the product, most of the department store selling Made in China model,
I brought mine in a Hi-Fi store and its made in Malaysia, which is more common such as Denon, Yamaha, Sony or Pioneer.

Strength:

Clean Look, Several DSP Modes, Nice Remote

Weakness:

Some Functions of remote not available on unit face

Sounds Great. I really like the way the remote lights up in a dark room (when you finally hit the right button in the dark!) Plenty of wiring options with so many I/O's

I was thinking of going with a Sony due to it having a built in EQ and so many DSP options, but have been happy with this receiver.

I am running it to a Polk Audio PSW350 sub, 2600 center, and the 2300 cube front and rears. Have found it to have plenty of power. Almost stepped up to the next bigger Onkyo for more wattage, but am glad I didn't. Some of the DVD's (volcano eruptions in particular) rattle every wall in my apartment.

Strength:

Sound, power, look, remote, quality & price

Weakness:

none at the moment!

Very good reciever, well built and affordable price. This excellent product will make more people join the HT market. These products sells itself. The sound is very good for a AV reciever, music reproduction in 2 channel mode is excellent. Same thing when playing movies, built in decoder works very well.

My Denon is a nightmare, die after 1 month. Dosen't sounds good anyway, thats why I don't get mad about it. Denon only sounds good in expensive models, cheaper models is just for the market.

Thanks Onkyo for making such a good AV reciever!

Strength:

price-value, 5 channel stereo, low background noise (hiss),
bass management, including LFE tweaking

Weakness:

none so far

Intended on buying Outlaw 1050, but couldn't justify spending another $ 220.00 for it's feature set. Found the
575X in researching the Outlaw.

First Dolby Digital receiver - waited till prices dropped. Concur with all the prior positive reviews. Build quality seems pretty good, for a mass marketed product. Plenty of power to drive Klipsch KG 1.2s (L/R) and KV2 Center Channel

Didn't pay retail asking price which was $ 479.00, which was on "sale". Looks like best street prices are $ 400.00.
Highly recommended.

Strength:

Outstanding Remote Control, Best sound under $1000, good build quality, great price @bestpriceaudiovideo $379!!

Weakness:

Truely none

Im 18 and wanted something that would give me the most bang for my buck. I didn't want to get the itch for something better in two years or less, I wanted something that would still kick 8-10 years from now. I think the 575X will do that easily.

It sounds great for $379. Has tons of features, DTS, Dolby Digital, Pro Logic, Cool DSPs, Re EQ, etc. I only am using about 30% of its capabilities now. I have not yet purchased a DVD player, so I can't say anything about the DTS or Digital as of yet, but the plain stereo, 5ch stereo, and pro-logic are much better than average.

I personally think that this is the best value of all the Onkyo recievers, the 676 is the same thing with 105W instead of 70W, and the 777 has THX. Now Im not 100% sure on these facts but thats what it looks like to me.

But believe me even if you pay the suggested retail price of around 500 dollars, you won't regret it for a minute!

Strength:

Sound, Price, Remote

Weakness:

no video inputs on front panel

I was a die hard pioneer fan and decided to try the 509s rated at 100W per Channel. My 10 year old first generation dolby pro logic pioneer sounded a whole lot better than the 509s. I decided to try another brand. I have previously installed a sony 935 and was quite pleased with the sound but I did not like the remote. My friend has a Denon 3300 and it kicks ass. Since I can't afford the Denon, I went with the Onkyo and was very impressed with the 70 watts per channel as it was more powerful than the pioneer 509s rated at 100 wpc. DD is truly amazing. I had my Denon friend check it out and he said "I am shocked at the clarity in sound and the separation of instuments is truly amazing and no hiss like traditional Onkyo's"

To sum up this review, the learning remote is a plus and the price can not be beat for the sound quality you get. I got rid of all my pioneer equipment and will buy all Onkyo for my stereo upgrade. I recommend this receiver to anyone on a budget.

Strength:

Sound, features, remote, ease of use

Weakness:

No memory for channel level configuration when switching between inputs.

Well boys, I gotta say, Onkyo made a great thing even better. Those designers really had the consumer in mind when they put this one together. It has everything you could possibly want at this price level. Sound is great, and unsurpassed from any receiver I auditioned. Deep, rich, and textured is pretty accurate, and you can't fully appreciate it until it's sitting in your living room. I recommend this machine to anyone looking for a great sounding, mid-priced receiver. Power is ample, although I did need to increase each channel level by a few notches to get the sound and bass I wanted. Price and performance considered, 5 stars.

Strength:

This system is built like a tank. It's simple to use and very user friendly. The remote is what I love most about this unit. Before I had to use 4 different remotes to control my Magnovox TV, Gen. Instr. cable box, Mitsubishi VCR and Panasonic DVD. Now, the Onkyo's learning remote was able to "learn" all the main functions I use on a daily basis. It even has one-touch button feature that turns on both the tv and cable box is sequence. And if you want you can even program it to go to a specific channel. The other cool feature is the 5-channel stereo which allows the listener to fill the room with great sounding music. And finally, one of the main add-ons from the previous model (tx-ds575) is s-video switching which gives you 4in/2out. Great unit Onkyo!!

Weakness:

Onkyo removed Multi-Room/Multi-Source from this model. Oh man!!

If you want a reciever that is feature-rich...don't get this one. If you want something that will last you for a long time with great sound and great looks (in my opinion) get the TX-DS575X.
