Strength:
Clean Look, Several DSP Modes, Nice Remote
Weakness:
Some Functions of remote not available on unit face Sounds Great. I really like the way the remote lights up in a dark room (when you finally hit the right button in the dark!) Plenty of wiring options with so many I/O's |

Weakness:
none at the moment! Very good reciever, well built and affordable price. This excellent product will make more people join the HT market. These products sells itself. The sound is very good for a AV reciever, music reproduction in 2 channel mode is excellent. Same thing when playing movies, built in decoder works very well. Outstanding Remote Control, Best sound under $1000, good build quality, great price @bestpriceaudiovideo $379!!
Weakness:
Truely none Im 18 and wanted something that would give me the most bang for my buck. I didn't want to get the itch for something better in two years or less, I wanted something that would still kick 8-10 years from now. I think the 575X will do that easily. Similar Products Used: Old Technics |

no video inputs on front panel I was a die hard pioneer fan and decided to try the 509s rated at 100W per Channel. My 10 year old first generation dolby pro logic pioneer sounded a whole lot better than the 509s. I decided to try another brand. I have previously installed a sony 935 and was quite pleased with the sound but I did not like the remote. My friend has a Denon 3300 and it kicks ass. Since I can't afford the Denon, I went with the Onkyo and was very impressed with the 70 watts per channel as it was more powerful than the pioneer 509s rated at 100 wpc. DD is truly amazing. I had my Denon friend check it out and he said "I am shocked at the clarity in sound and the separation of instuments is truly amazing and no hiss like traditional Onkyo's" Similar Products Used: Pioneer 509s, Sony 935, Denon 3300 |

Strength:
Sound, features, remote, ease of use
Weakness:
No memory for channel level configuration when switching between inputs. Well boys, I gotta say, Onkyo made a great thing even better. Those designers really had the consumer in mind when they put this one together. It has everything you could possibly want at this price level. Sound is great, and unsurpassed from any receiver I auditioned. Deep, rich, and textured is pretty accurate, and you can't fully appreciate it until it's sitting in your living room. I recommend this machine to anyone looking for a great sounding, mid-priced receiver. Power is ample, although I did need to increase each channel level by a few notches to get the sound and bass I wanted. Price and performance considered, 5 stars. This system is built like a tank. It's simple to use and very user friendly. The remote is what I love most about this unit. Before I had to use 4 different remotes to control my Magnovox TV, Gen. Instr. cable box, Mitsubishi VCR and Panasonic DVD. Now, the Onkyo's learning remote was able to "learn" all the main functions I use on a daily basis. It even has one-touch button feature that turns on both the tv and cable box is sequence. And if you want you can even program it to go to a specific channel. The other cool feature is the 5-channel stereo which allows the listener to fill the room with great sounding music. And finally, one of the main add-ons from the previous model (tx-ds575) is s-video switching which gives you 4in/2out. Great unit Onkyo!!
Weakness:
Onkyo removed Multi-Room/Multi-Source from this model. Oh man!! If you want a reciever that is feature-rich...don't get this one. If you want something that will last you for a long time with great sound and great looks (in my opinion) get the TX-DS575X. Similar Products Used: JVC RX8000VBK. Onkyo....more user friendly....much, much more. |
