Strength:
Clean and crisp sound, build quality, 5-Ch Stereo et all.
Weakness:
Inability to use DSP when B Speakers are on, a few functions are not controllable on the Remote This is a Fabulous Reciever. Before purchasing this piece, I compared it to a large selection of products in a similar price range and much higher - nothing comes close in terms of quality or features. Strength:
remote, binding posts, clean sound, dolby digital and dts decoding.
Weakness:
now i need new speakers. well, after a year of research and saving (and wife convincing, of course) i decided on the onkyo 575x based in large part on the reviews posted here. i upgraded from a dolby pro-logic receiver and am in 5.1 heaven now. even with my low end speakers, all of my music and movies sound so much better. and now i can here what i was missing in all of these dts dvd's i have! the remote is wonderful, and was a big selling point for my wife, who was tired of 5 remotes cluttering up coffee table. i programmed all of them into the onkyo remote with no problem - works great. easy to read display; enough dsp's for my taste; PLENTY of a/v inputs (s-video, optical, coaxial). overall, and for the money, i highly recommend this receiver. Strength:
clean clear sound, wide dynamic power, runs clean even when near max volume
Weakness:
volume, remote doesn't control all receiver features This is a great amp, especially for the money. It is clean, clear, and powerful, although you really do need to turn up the wick to get the sound pumping. It doesn't heat up much compared to other amps, and it integrates all components beautifully, and controls them all via the one remote. Some say it doesn't have enough volume. I say don't be afraid to turn it up. It won't rattle the rafters, but it does make you grip onto the couch and leave a BIG smile on you face afterwards. If you need more volume, go to the cinema. However, if you value hi-quality sound on a budget over everything else, then this is the amp for you. Highly recommended. Similar Products Used: JVX AXA662 (stereo receiver) |

Strength:
All the necessary inputs (s-video, optical, etc.),clear sound, great remote!
Weakness:
None yet Bought this as an open box buy at Circuit City and saved $150 because it had no box (obviously) and no manual. Downloaded owner's manual from Onkyo website - problem solved. This unit is HEAVY!!! I need to get better speakers to make a comment on the unit's sound and power, but I am nonetheless very impressed so far (Reviews on this website convinced me this was the way to go, Thanks!) Anyone considering a sub $500 receiver, you owe it to yourself to check this one out! Very impressed.... Similar Products Used: Nothing worth mentioning |

Strength:
Clearness, Universal learnable Remote, easy setup, 5 channel stereo
Weakness:
No MultiRoom feautures, lack of power. I used to own an Onkyo TXDS-555, which could be the same one but older. When I saw that Onkyo recently released the "upgraded" one, I changed it and found that what should be better, is not. Similar Products Used: Onkyo TXDS-555 |

CJC, as i tried to explain, in the moment I knew Onkyo had the upgraded 555 (now 575x), I thougt it was really updated... wich means that all the Pro's it has, should be included and some more (but ok, my fault, I should have reviewed it before I purchased it). Multiroom, ... i used to use it a lot, and now I have to listen to what my girlfriend's friend listen, wich is a very poor and horrible music. |
