Strength:
Power 100W x 5, DD,DTS, Subwoofer Pre-Out, Midnight Mode
Weakness:
Cannot adjust bass or treble unless using "A" side speakers. I am very impressed with this receiver and did my research prior to my purchase. The sound quality is very powerful and flat plus the distortion is very low. The dynamic range is incredible and the seperation is also very good. In surround mode you will also be impressed weather you are using VHS, satellite or DVD the sound is AWSOME. This receiver seems to have a package of the most product for the best price and that was one of the main reason I decided to purchase it. This review is almost a year late but I just found this site but thought this receiver DESERVED this review. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Very nice, clear sound. Quite powerfull
Weakness:
No S-Video anything I have had this receiver for just about a month now, and have been enjoying it a lot. I purchased it at Best Buy as an open box item, and the rear foot had broken off of it, so I got an espeically good deal. When I got it home the foot went right on, and setup was very easy. I didn't have a manual to work with, so tuner controlls took a little playing. I still havent figured out how to program the remote to controll my VCR and DVD player though, as I said, I have no manual. Over all it seem to be very nice, but if anyone can help me out with directions for programing the remote, or can get me a digital copy of the manual, I would appriciate it very much. Thank you. |

Strength:
Low price, great sound.
Weakness:
Subwoofer settings are poor, no manual for instrctions to use, remote control needs time to hand it. I have a 21" monitor and a PC-DVD Encore 5X, so I decided to purchase this receiver. I did many test, and the only pain in te a-- is the subwoofer, in not powerfull, so I had to hack it, and now works well. Similar Products Used: none. |

Strength:
Great DD and DTS sound using a Yamaha decoder, 100W is nice for the price (bought as a return), all around great receiver in the pricerange
Weakness:
poorly designed remote I was on a business trip from Denver, CO to Fort Collins, CO and stopped in at the Best Buy there. They had this receiver on the shelf as a return for $170. This salesguy walks by and tells me he can cut me a deal and ends up giving it to me for $80 after I agreed to buy some cabling that I needed anyway. I've been using the receiver for about 7 months and it's been awesome for playing DVDs on my Sony 530D player. I have a 5-piece set of mid-level Bose speakers, and they sound great on it. I had a Sony receiver before that was DD ready that I used with the DD decoder built into my Sony 530D, but the DD seems cleaner and more pronounced now that I'm using the receiver's DD decoder. I only have a few DTS titles on DVD, but they sound great. I like this receiver quite a bit and for the price I love it. I was actually able to sell my Sony DD ready receive on E-Bay for about $40 more than I bought this one for, which was nice. |

Strength:
Price, power (100x5) digital outputs, ease of use
Weakness:
no s-video, remote could be a lot better I did most of my research on this reciever using this website, so I wanted to give something back. This reciever is GREAT - not just for the price, but for the overall quailty of this product. I am very happy with the power, the ease of use, and all of the options, from dolby, 5.1, and DTS this really is a great piece of equipment for a non audiophile. Great receiver for the price. I couldn't find a received in the same price range that has DD and DTS. Awesome!
Weakness:
Poor remote. What a great receiver for the price. I bought it as a Home Theater set with 5 speakers and a sub woofer for $499 CAD, about $350 US. I recommend this to anyone looking to buy their first Home Theatre receiver. |

alotta features. supports all. Fantastic Value! Good Sound.
Weakness:
Surround Sound blows when not in DTS mode. Remote - backwards? (hand movements) Overall this receiver has awesome sound quality for the price. The value increases when the number of inputs/outputs are considered. Tons of features. Multiple DSP modes custom listening. BBZ says buy it Bwas! Similar Products Used: Nay. |

can't switch speakers from remote i bought this in November2000. Bought with dvd player. it came with free little KLH speakers. it is really loud. My main speakers are KLH 9915 (15" 4-way). I turn the loudness on and use the channel level on the remote to put the main speakers to +10, and it makes it really, really loud. Similar Products Used: old yamaha |
