Strength:

good for those just starting out

Weakness:

not digital, no light on the volume indicator, lots of useless features

I was pretty pleased with this receiver until I heard better. I was fired up at the deal I got it for, and it replaced a receiver with no surround capability (my first).

It blew when my roommate hooked it up to his Polk RT2000 - then he bought a Harman/kardon to drive those bad boys, and I couldn't believe the difference.

I'm not really an audiophile, but I love electronics. Go for something like this if you're just starting out and have middle of the road rest of the system to match.

You won't be blown away. Remember this: you pay for what you get.

I bought this receiver on sale at Sears for $225. I have had it for 6 weeks nowand was not really impressed with it musically. For home theater it was fine.
My first impression was where is the bass? I had it hooked to my old Bose 601's
and did not get the same bass as I had before. I know Bose isn't known for strong bass but it seemed that the bass had disappeared. I started to give it
a reveiw earlier but decided to wait untill I purchased new speakers. I replaced my old speakers with DCM KX-12 II speakers. Now I have bass and the receiver gets a better rating than it would have. Nice features, plenty of power, and
good home theater performance. A good buy at the price but I wouldn't pay $300 or more for it.

Weakness:

Too many to list

I hate this reciever, I am throwing it out come Christmas and getting an Onkyo. I have had the amp blow twice! And both times were within two weeks. Then it preceeded to fry the minidisc/tape input, and now when you use that input it plays it on every other channel. Crappy Sony piece of !!! Don't ever buy this piece of !!!

Strength:

- Lots of power
- No distortion
- Lots of Bass
- Easy to use

Weakness:

- "Remote control"
- Volume on remote is way to sensitive.

Ive had this reciever for about 1 year and a half, and it has worked flawlessly. The reviever powers 2 15" pioneer woofers, 2 8" woofers, and about 6 other speakers ranging from 2-6 inches. The sound quality is very clean and clear, and has lots of bass after the burn-in.
