Strength:

Not many, front channels are tolerable, Vision-Touch system is cool for the first day of use, does have s-video connections though.

Weakness:

The surround channel has absolutly horrible noise problems, the Pro-Logic processing is poor to say the least, the DSP modes do nothing but extremly color the signal. The biggest pian is the remote has no range, and makes the receiver almost useless. It's next to impossible to develop any bass to speak of from the amplifier section. There also is no balance contorl and the bass and treble controls have to be adjusted in very large steps making the almost useless.

Save your pennies and buy a real setup. I didn't and regretted it. I have since replaced this unit wiht an Adcom pre-amp/tuner/power amplifier setup and the difference is unreal. I'm a gadget junky and thought I would love the STR-G3, but it really made me realize the merrit in a purest setup such as the Adcom.
