I have the 2090 and I add DTS to the DDP-1 and it's unbelievable. The sound for both DTS and AC-3 is remarkable. The 2090 is the bang for the buck unit. |

I have had the 2090 for about 18 months and when it goes it is a real kicker. Love it... in stereo or surround.... BUT. ... it developed a hum in the speakers after about 8 months and now turns itself off automatically when I turn it on. Since I bought it in Hongkong when I lived there and I now am back in NZ, I may well have an expensive repair to afford.... BUMMER.....CD |

This thing is way overpriced for the performance. Only if you can find a good deal. |

I've had this receiver for 9 months and it rocks! I've previously owned an Onkyo 717 (not bad at the time), a yamaha 1070 (wasnt a very good upgrade), and now the 2090. I havent gotten an AC-3 decoder yet since i don't have any dolby digital sources, plus i'm leaning towards the Harmon Kardon processor should i finally buy one. I recently found out that the 2092 has beefier surround power, so anybody wanna compare?? Maybe if i upgrade, i'm strongly considering the dsp-a1 or 2095. |

I purchased this receiver about a year-and-a-half ago, and I must agree with other reviewers here that the addition of an outboard AC-3 processor really makes this unit come alive. In normal surround, the DSP modes are interesting to mess with for different formats, but I mostly leave mine in the movie theater mode. At the time I purchased this unit, I believe it was truly the best all-around surround receiver you could buy (except for more features on the 3090). Still sounds pretty good, even when compared with newer technology of other manufacturers like Onkyo, Kenwood, Denon, etc. I still give this one a four star rating, as receivers go. |

I have owned the 2090 for over two years now and have not heard another reciever that sounds this good,it's my pride and joy. The sound is crisp and clear and with addition of a sub it is truly amazing. This receiver kicks butt, especialy in 70mm surround and DD. its only drawbacks are the lack of sufficeint video inputs and the surround output power.which i will remedy soon with the purchase of the 2095. |

Picked up a slightly damaged unit (gravity aware unit), repaired the big boy and whoa.. incredible. I just wanted to listen to FM radio. Also extracted a plastic toy (non-Yamaha feature). Best I have seen for AUD$800 +2 hours of my time ! I've now given the RX-V995 a miss as it is over twice the price ! |

Having just gotten a "loda' money" I decided to turn in my 8 year old Portable JVC for something better. I got the 2090 for many reason, one was the affordable price in relation to the quality ($2000 Canadian), and another reason was the flexiblility with future technology.I was blown away from the moment I turned it on. The surround sound feeling is remarkable. |
