I have bought this reciver after a long resarch and I have used it for more than one year. All what I can say that its awesome, I have enjoyed every DVD title and every music CD for the last year. But now I think A2 or 2095 will be a better choice because of the extra sound fields and the new look. |

Check this out! For months I wanted this model and I got it mail order almost ten months ago and I wrote a super review on it. Then it started; it would go into protection mode and shut off. I thought it was running hot so I gave it more room on the rack and it still ran hot and shut off. I took it to a shop that fixes Yamaha only to find out that Yamaha doesn't do warrantee on mail order. So out of pocket I paid to have them look at it only to be told that there was nothing wrong. So I went to another shop and $128.00 later I was told that they found a loose connection, fixed it and ran it and every thing worked. So, I took it home, pluged it in and the noise that came out of this unit was too much. It had a fan! As I never knew it had a fan as I never heard it before was the first revelation and that the fan was way too noisy was the second revelation. The loose connection he found was to the fan. This fan made more noise than the music I was playing. Then the unit shut off, again. Worse yet, when put on surround mode the sound that once was the best I have ever heard before I took it to the shop was now so garbled it was worthless. So, today, after the sun rises, I will be out looking for someone to fix this heart breaker and I will be happy to get along with the rest of my life. I now realize that there are lemons with Yamaha products and my mail order bargin has already cost me more than if I had bought it over the counter. Maybe reading this will help somebody. I am really disappointed. |

John, I'm really sorry about your problems with your 2092. Lord knows, I'd be pissed off too if I had a lemon. But the fact of the matter is every product, especially complex ones like receivers, has it's share of lemons. I've had my 2092 for about 2 months and I've had no problems so far. I got it via the internet for $859 (b-stock unit). Yes, it was a risk, but for that price I couldn't pass it up. It's an incredible unit playing both 2 channel stereo and DD 5.1 (or 7.1 with the awesome front effects channels). I would heartily recommend this unit to anyone looking to buy a receiver. |

Three months. It took me three months of searching to find the perfect receiver, and this is it. After listening to Denon, Onkyo, Marantz, Sony ES, and other unmentionables, I settled on the Rx-v2092. After a thorough setup, I put in the DVD version of Glory and was blown away. This receiver creates a fantastic soundstage and immerses you in sound like no other I have heard. |

I upgraded about 8 months ago from a Yamaha RX-V870 to the 2092 just before purchasing my DVD player. I have this attached to a Bose AM-7 speakers and with the right placement of the base module, the system cranks. The opening to Contact on DVD will blow anybody away. I am particularly fond of the second room function. I've wired my 870 to it, set up a remote repeater and it is running a pair of Bose 901's in the office. It works great! |

I just bought this receiver via mail order as a demo model for $500. I hooked it up and all I have to say is OUTSTANDING! This is an older unit and has been around for a while, but unless you're hardcore and has/will acquire every new digital-compatable gadget that comes out, the arguments that there aren't enough digital inputs is unwarranted. Dolby Digital DVD's are the way to go (dts will go the way of beta. It has its merits over Dolby Digital, but there isn't enough software or industry support. Dolby Digital will be the standard for pretty much every future format/broadcast.) and you've got all the inputs to hook up a DVD player, a pair of VCR's, and your audio components. What more is there? |

Weakness:
No Weakness. I dont own the 2092, rather i own the 1092. The 1092 is basically the 2092 without a tuner. Same specs, power, 7-channel etc. Its great. I bought it for $1240. Similar Products Used: DSP-A1092 |

I bought the 2092 3 monthes ago and love it. I have a full set of BA VR40's, VR12, and VR2000 sub with pro surrounds and CR8's for front effects. All cables are from DH labs. I use teknasonic dampers on the main and center speakers. The best tweak of all |

I bought a Yamaha RXV-2092 by mail order for $1200 after listening to it at my local hi end store. I am thoroughly impressed by this receiver. For home theatre applications, I think this is one of the best receivers out there. In the prologic mode there was no discernable background hiss that is typical of many receivers. The 100 watt rating on the surround speakers really helps on action flicks. In the 70mm DSP setting this receiver made my 150 watt powered sub-woofer (Cerwin-Vega HT-12 pwr) clip. It is also an excellent performer on stereo music only applications. I have yet to use mine for AC3 as I do not have a DVD player yet, but I am sure that it will excel. Buy this receiver without any hesitation. |
