This unit has plenty of power and great surround capability and is completly awesome with a DVD player, Jamo speakers, Definitive Tech. Sub, and Pro scan TV. I would highly recomend this unit to anyone.

Strength:

Good sound, powerful, lots of inputs, DD ready

Weakness:

no digital input

I have had this receiver for a little over a year. I have had no problems with it. It has good power and lots of inputs on the back. I like how it looks on the front and you can tell it is well made. It is pretty heavy! Now that I have my DVD player I hooked it up through the 5.1 inputs, but I wish the receiver had digital in. I also got some new speakers and the receiver can power them, but I will need more power on my next receiver.

Strength:

It works as it should, and has flexible input/output capabilities. The remote is very powerful.

Weakness:

No mute button.

I purchased the RX-V592 about three years ago and I have never had a problem with it. The power output is adequate to
make it unpleasantly loud with my Bose 201 speakers. At
very high volumes the output of course was garbled. For
some time I had this equiped with a pair of McIntosh LS-310
speakers, and the sound at loud volumes was noticably more
clear. Most likely because the McIntosh speakers are like
two grand for a pair, this makes sense.

I have used this almost entirely for Stereo use, but at one
time I did have it hooked up in a four speaker arrangement
using phantom mode with the center. This seemed to work well
enough.

The best part of this unit is the flexibility of input/output. I have had this in numerous strange setups
and I can almost always hook it up(somehow). It has line
level in for any speaker(5.1), also it has variable line
level out for any speaker(5.1).

The remote looks like it came from Star Trek. Simply used
the remote is very functional, with the exception of a mute
button on the remote. The RX-V692 has a mute on the remote,
and this(V592) has a button there that doesn't actually DO anything(same location as said V692 mute button). I don't
understand why it was so hard to make a mute feature but
that has annoyed me for three and something years.

Other than the mute button, this unit served it's purpose
well. Then again this is dated technology, but atleast you
could hookup an external decoder for Dolby Digital or DTS.

My ratings are relative to units in this model's price class, not an absolute scale.
