I bought this amp before even knowing about the existence of this forum and I'm not in the least bit sorry. I love this amp.
I like our friend here from Hong Kong have it mated to 5 NHTs and they sound very dynamic and alive without grain or strain. My preamp is Marantz AV550 and I'm also running a Musical Fidelity CD player which actually gives the ATI some warmth on music.

I have a 3 year old NHT SW2P powered subwoofer , but because of the sheer power of the ATI I'm thinking of upgrading the sub to Velodyne 12, 15 or even 18.

Also, some reviews I've read about this amp online stated that it didn't have accomodations for spade lugs. It seems that ATI has taken care of that, as there are slots at the top of the binding posts for them.

I like Sarmi bought mine thru: www.reference-av.com for $1,199 NEW. Not a demo as listed at their site.

I hope this helps anyone reading this.

I purchased this amp based on the favorable reviews it recived from across many different "forums", and it does not disappoint. It matches very well with my NHT's. I love music and listen to many different types, but I do have "another life" and do not spend 30 hours per week in my chair listening for "the singers breathe", but will admit that the ATI did bring out such clarity in many CD's without bringing a harshness to the music (which I was worried about having been coupled with NHT's) It also has a nice solid bass, which by itself cleaned up the loose bass on Eryka Badu's: Baduizm, that was previously heard with my Onkyo receiver. (Mind you I still use the Onkyo as the pre) The icing on the cake was that my brother picked it up in a store in NJ for $1250. These guys are like Toyota back in the 1970's where in a few years they will be banging us over the head for these amps and will then probably come out with a Lexus line.

Strength:

construction quality, sound quality, power and price

Weakness:

none to speak of

I've had the ATI 1505 since April of '99, I sent in a review after I had it for a week which you can still see.
I just want to say how happy I am with this amp. I could have spent a lot more and almost did, but boy, am I ever glad that I didn't.
Sure, you can spend MUCH more and get a marginally better power amp, but you would be talking about very slight improvements. For movies, the ATI is everything you could ask for and for music, it gives up only a little to the high priced equipment out there.
This is a serious piece of audio equipment. It's made like a tank, it's layed out in an intelligent manner, doesn't cost a fortune and sounds real good.
What more could you ask for.

Strength:

It's beefy.

Weakness:

Difficult to lug around, the binding posts take some getting used to, and the sound could be better...

Well, here we go.

First of all, this is a great amp for the money. What a value! 5 channels of ooomph, for such a tiny outlay. Groovy!

Associated gear for listening has included; EAD Theatermaster, Pioneer Elite DV F07, Rega Planet, and much associated other 'stuff.' (www.averagegeek.com/Evil_Jim/HiFi.htm)

In my home theater, this amp has pulled it's weight (pun intended, however lame) with apomb. Dynamic and fun.

On the downside, as a 2 channel HiFi unit, this is not an awesome sounding amplifier; too forward for my taste, and the soundstage is not well articulated.

So, as a 'home theater' amplifier (I guess the application for 5 channel amp!) it's an excellent value, and a fine amp. If your priority is 2 channel listening, keep looking for your main amp, and buy the 1503 for your remaining channels..

Plenty of power; warranty; great people at the ATI offices to work with

I wasn't sure how this amp would drive my Magnepan 1.6 speakers, plus my Maggie surrounds and center....they run at 4 ohms, and love POWER. The 1505 sounds great on both DVD movies and CD listening. Great soundstage, great clarity.

I got around the remote power situation by following a suggestion from an ATI techie....I use an X-10 outlet integrated into my Home Theatermaster SL-9000 remote...works perfectly!

Great clean power, "good looking", runs cool, price, warranty

Weakness:

no mount handles. can not bridgeable likes ATI 1506

I have both parasound 2205 and ATI 1505 in my process of upgrading my HT system. My friends of mine in Bay Area also try diff amp within our budget. Tried to find an excellent seup for our HT system. My first ATI 1505 impressed me a lot, though I sold it for $990 and tried to get a more powerful amp either ATI2505 or parasound 2205A THX. I did consider ATI2505 after reading some reviews -- one of the major reasons is that it come with 20A cord -- correctly me if I am wrong, so I decided to get a used parasound 2205A THX for my Lexicon DC1 preamp. Yes, parasound 2205 did provide clear, smooth "musical" power to my speaker, definitely 5 stars.
During my searching for amp, I got ATI 1505 again from my friend. He bought ATI 1505 directly from ATI after two weeks then he also decided to get parasound 2205. So I got an almost brand new unit for $1150( before shipped), (it is OK for him since he joined a startup company and went public). After compared ATI 1505 and parasound 2205A. I will say
1. both are excellent amps, if you have only $1000 - $1500
to spend, take ATI1505 used or new unit, it will perform better than a lot other amps
2. if your room is not big enough --> take ATI1505, it is good enough.
3. it also provide clear, smooth "musical" power.
4. it you like it runs cool, take ATI1505.
you will like it ( or both ) when you compare to others.

All of the amps we checked out do both music and movies very well, especially when you consider the price. My friend has an outlaw, and fortunately a dealer by me is a nice enough guy to let us bring the Outlaw in and do head, to head to head comparisons. We listened to a Sony 7700 as the movie and music source, a Sunfire Theater Grand pre, and NHT VT 2's for the fronts and the super zeros for the surrounds and the VS-2 center. We heard slight sonic differences and liked the Sherbourn and the ATI best overall. In the end I went with the ATI simply because I heard a more cohesive sound with this amp. The price was also made this amp very attractive--$1300 for the demo model so I said "I'll take it". Since I got the amp home I am very happy with it and I am truly enjoying both music and movies. I have this amp mated with a Sherwood Newcastle pre (which is also OK for the money) and the same NHT speaker set up. One of the nice things about this amp is that it runs VERY cool (does not get hot at all.

Yet to find one.

I have been using the ATI amp for a little over 2 years. I love this amp. I recently purchased an Anthem AVM20 preamp and a set of Tyler Acousic Tylo reference monitors. As I hooked up the Tylo reference monitors for the very first time (replacing a set of Mirage 3Msi speakers), I somehow blew out the electric fuse on the ATI amp (I'm not sure how, but the fuse did its job and protected the amp). Since I was dying to hear the new speakers, I connected them to a Halfer DH500 power amp (it was after closing time for Radio Shack, so I couldn't get a fuse until morning). I figured that I had made a mistake in purchasing the Tylo reference monitor speakers. I decided to connect it to a Kenwood KM-1 THX amp that I use in a different system. Again, I didn't like the speakers. I bought a fuse the next morning and connected the Tylo reference monitors to the ATI 1505 and WOW!! What a difference. I went from not liking the speakers to LOVING THEM. I have always been impressed by the ATI amp, however, it wasn't until I was forced to use the other amps (and the Hafler DH500 is a very decent amp) that I realized just how great this amp is for music. Of all the amps I've owned, only the Threshold 4000 was superior for music; and not by a long margin.

For the 2nd half of the story, when I couldn't get power to the amp, I did not initially realize that it was simply a fuse. There are fuses for the speakers and inputs, which were all fine. I didn't not realize that there was a separate fuse for the power supply. I immediately wrote an email to ATI and also left a message on their answering machine. I figured out the problem immediately the next morning on my own, however, I was very pleased to receive a phone call back from ATI that very day. There are so very few companies that will take the time out to call about a possible problem instead of sending an email. I am very impressed with the customer service. On all levels, I give this amp and company five stars.

Strength:

Punch. Quality. Power to reserve. trasparent sound. Soundstage. have I said quality. Build. Company customer service!.

Weakness:

Non!.

I have had this ATI1505 for over 2 years now. It is being hooked to a Sony 9000ES pre amp and B&W's 604 speakers for front, 601 rears and CDM-CSE center. There is an additional Def-Tech 15Tl sub.
I originally purchased this amp 2 years ago but than moved out of the US and needed to amp to be onverted to 220V where my local electriciy was. No problem, ATI customer service suggest me to ship the amp to the company and this will be done at no extra cost for me. They stood behind their word and even ship the amp back to me at no extra charges. I have used the amp since then for about 2 years on the 220V system. Never had single problem with it.
There was another case I contacted ATI customer srvice and that was for to build some auto turn on for this amp, once again, I receivd all the help needed, cost be about $5 at rasio shack to get the parts and since then in the last 2 years this amp is on standby mode, and zerp problems.

As for the sound. I have searched a lot for an amp to match my speakers and the 9000ES and it seems to many folks out there have this combintion, so I went for that as well.
Within 6 month the system was fully broken in, I mean that, it was about 6 month... but then, the sound was simply incredible. This amp has power to reserve, it has huge soudstage and it somewhat neutral to trasparent sounding. It is not a warmth sounding. I like it that way. huge puch, i think this amp has the best mid range I have ever heard. The highs at high volumes might be a bit harsh but you will rarely get to that level, and I listen at high relative volumes. THe lower end is not its best part when comparing with the Parasound 2205 (that I currently have, and am not that happy with...). But the midrange if better than the parasound, so if you are using a high quality sub, and cross you speakers at aout 50-70Hz - I'd say the ATI is a no barainer.

For 2 channel mode, is has similar channel separation as the Parasound. Great 2 channel.
For HT use, I will simply not replace this amp for anything else.

The reason I currently have the HCA-2205AT is bcs my recent move back in the US, I was not able to bring the ATI with me as it is now 220V so decided to get new amp. the ATI2505 was not a question for me as I simpoly do not like this amp performance, a friend of mine has this amp together with DC-1 and Paradigm ref 100, and the sound is very weak. It is just too strong of an amp i the mid range part... So I decided between another ATI1505, or Parasound 2205 or the Rotel 1095. The parasound rated at 220x5 but, if the ATI1505 is only 150x5 than it is very conservative rating... they share about the same power.
I finally got the Parasound thinking to myself this is going to be an upgrade, well, it is a warmer amp, with better low end and worse mid range than that of the ATI1505, about the same power, highs are pretty much the same. For 2 channel I might enjoy more the Parasound. For HT use, the ATI is my pick!.
Not to mentioned the ergonomics of the ATI on the back compare with the Parasound which is very poor, no room for speaker cables at all.
All in all for the performance the ATI would get 4.5 starts from me, but for such great customer service and zero problems and pure enjoyment that I got from this amp, I simply rate this one 5 stars.

I still have my ATI and will sure continue to use it when am back home.

Highly recommended amplifier and company to work with!.

Strength:

Clean, limitless power, outstanding build quality, transferable warranty.

Weakness:

Not as well known as Parasound, or Rotel.

I don't have the opportunity to "audition" many amplifiers where I live, so I had to rely on product reviews and a lot of digging for specifications to base my buying decision on. I noticed that the ATI amplifiers had much bigger transformers relative to rated power than the competition. Too, ATI has a transferable warranty, most others don't. Easy decision! It's just amazing to me how little these great amplifiers go for used on EBay! Just email ATI with the date, and location of origional purchase and you're covered! These things are so far ahead of recievers it's simply amazing. I'll run a dedicated circuit to this beast soon so my lights don't dim when I power this baby up! I am in awe of this outstanding product.

System notes:
DefTech BP-2002 mains, DefTech CLR-2500 center, KLH-2055 surrounds, 2 DefTec PF-15TL+ subwoofers. Yamaha HTR-5280 reciever used as a Pre-Pro.
