It would appear that Rick, alias Jake has a serious case of Classe envy. What he owns is obviously inferior to the CA200. Why else would he go to so much trouble discredit this amp.
Incidentally, the Classe CA200 is a very good amp. It does a much better job driving Aerius's than the "budget priced" Krell. It has a natural and warm quality that's musically appealing.

I just got the chance to hear the CA-200. I heard it in combination with a Classe CDP-1 CD player, Sonic Frontiers Line 2 preamp, and Aerial Acoustics 7Bs. I should also mention that the amp in question was brand new right out of the box and hadn't gotten the chance to break in yet. Let me say this: all the people in this thread who say all kinds of nasty stuff about Classe need to lighten up a little. The CA-200 is in no way "muddy" or "harsh." Listening to Barber's Second Essay, I got every part of the recording with pristine detail. I could hear the key action on all the woodwinds in solo passages, and that's more than I can say about other systems in this class. When I switched to the Anthem CD-1 CD player, the differences were immediately apparent. How can you claim the CA-200 is muddy? Maybe the Levinson is a little more hyper-resolving. For $3000 more, it'd better do something better than the Classe. Maybe the Krell has better bass control. Again.....the CA-200 is a wonderful sounding amp. Look at it this way...if someone gave me a CA-200, I wouldn't sell it - I'd use it. That doesn't apply to everything out there.

I have to agree, emphatically. If anyone is getting muddy sound out of this amp it must originate elsewhere in their setup. I have a CA-200 paired with a Sonic Frontiers Line-2, driving Thiel 2 2s. The sound is beautifully clean and detailed. A magical combination.

Gee, Jake. You sure get around. It's amazing how you can live in N.Y. & Illinois at the same time. Hey dip$hit, you're IP address is posted next to your review. So you can go ahead and try to dump on Classe products with as many different names as you can come up with, but you're only fooling yourself you jackass! No stars for you/4 for the Classe

I have to agree that Classe' is crap.EVERYTHING in the entire line is not worthyof the asking price.Every component that Classe' makes is only worth one-half
of what they charge for it.Classe' has nicely built electronics but they don't
sound that good. They are muddy, muffled, and unrefined sounding.I should know,I've owned many Classe' products in the past and have sold them all for that reason.Do yourself a favor and bypass everything in the line unless you can get one for half-price.

Chester, YOU are a fool and your bogus post on the CA-200 proves it. Who would buy anything that costs 3 G's and not not listen to it first? Classe' equipment is a giant killer and you know it. I guess you really bought Krell or some other over priced amplifier and found out the truth, CLASSE' is BETTER.

I just purchase a used CA-200 for $1,700. It's sounds great with my Martin Logan CLS-Zs, very engaging and powerful. Other amps drove me away from the listening area, this one pulls you in. Great sound and build.
