Densen sounds different than anything else on the market. You can hear the hart and soul of the music and it just makes you want to listen for ever. The sound is very present and make you want to dance and be apart of it all.Try it!! Strength:

Valve like vocals with superb transients and speed. Best of both worlds!

Weakness:

Very critical of matching auxillaries

I guess the reviews below basically summed up the strengths of this wonderful toy. Speed, transparant, airy and exciting presentation. Needs very careful matching, but it will be all worth it.

Strength:

Speed, transparency, tight bass, exciting tempo

Weakness:

Slightly bright, needs very careful system matching

Thi amp surprised me, I never expect an amp of this sort of pricing can do what this Danish delight did.

I get speed, great resolution, transparency and warm all wrapped into one package! I believe it is largely due to the use of Non-feedback topology coupled with a huge power supply. Densen got a winner here, this amp truly rocks!!!

But beware of matching axillaries as these amp is very sensitive to over-bright partners. Avoid metal dome speakers at all cost and use an even handed CD player for good synergy. Avoid silver ladened interconnects and use low inductance/capacitance speaker cables. With these caveat out of the way, you have one hell of a cracker!!!

You get a high end sound without paying a end price. An absolute bargain!

Strength:

Open, dynamic, fluid, big soundstage, looks great.

Weakness:

Not the most powerful amp, but for the price, outstanding value.

Replaces Pioneer A400, and played with Royd Doublet loudspeakers and Trichord Revelation CD player.

Massive difference to my previous amp, but what took it apart from other amps around the same price was its presence and soundstage. Gone was the woolly bass or small stage. Here was an expansive soundstage, where individual instruments were clear and precise. As good as any amp I played with up to a grand, and although not mega powerful, still delivers plenty of punch for my needs.
Class it as a bonus or issue, but the Densen Beat 100 gives you a true recording of whats on your CD. If its a crap recording, it won't sound too hot here, but if its good, well, prepare to enjoy!

I have the Mark 1 amp, its been upgraded since, and reviews seem to say its a little brighter. I've not tried it, I just know this is a great value integrated amp. However, be careful what you match it with, find the right CD and speakers and you'll be having some late nights replaying your old CD collection.

Strength:

VEry good dynamics, drives difficult loads with easy, great musicality and it looks damn good

Weakness:

Very fussy when partnering with source and speakers. Need a high quality CD player and speakers to realsied its potential.

Never off this amp!
Always leave it on, as it will sound the best this way.

This amp surprises with its driving power. Whether you hook it up to a small bookshelf or huge floorstander, it will drive them with equal ease. Resolution and dynamics are the 2 best qualities of this Danish miracle. It never fails to make me get involved with the music.

If you are getting an amp musical enjoyment, this amp will definitely be your cup of tea.

Strength:

Looks, Timing, Control,Image, did i mention looks.

Weakness:

A bit picky about the sources and cables. Also the crack you get when you turn it on.

I have currently got my Densen wired upto a

rotel RCD951
Sony MDSS40
and a set of b&w303 (i know not the best of speakers!)
connected using nordost solarwind and super flatline gold.

When i first turned the densen on i was greated by that awfull crack where a surge of power is sent through the circuitry which was quite worrying to me as i got this as amp on the understanding that if anything should go wrong i would be unable to get it fixed because densen had lost there british rep. Soon re-alising that the crack was due to reduced circuits i got one with business. To give it a quick test i tried Dire straits brothers in arms and was completely blown away by its ability to fill the room however i was not completely satisfied with the bottom end (personally i think it's the speakers). So moving all my kit bar the speakers downstairs i whipped the amp onto a set of twenty year olf wharfedale TSR110, It was hard not to be impressed especially by the detail of its imaging and the depth of it's soundstage were.

I also noticed i very low hum that was being emitted through the speakers and it came to my attenion that my mini-disc deck was not earthed so going on some sound advice i earthed the amplifier directy to the deck using the grounding post on the back of the amp eliminating the nasty destraction.

Strength:

Very fast, warm and transparent midrange, able to create a very dynamic yet unfatiguing sound

Weakness:

very critical with partnering equipments, does not like metal speakers with metal cones, prone to interference

I have owned and sold many amps and none of them stayed in my house as long as the Densen did.

This is a very unique and fussy amp. just like Sonus Faber speakers, where you need to cater to its every needs before it is will want to sing to you. I have to mix-matched many auxilaries before I can find partners that it is willing to live with.

Never use a bright sounding source, speakers with metal tweeters, interconnects that sounded slow (like MIT series) and speaker cables of high capacitances. With all this caveats out of the way, this amp will get out of its way and sing like nobody else can do.

The use of massive powersupply feed by a passive pre and the use of non-feedback design is a good move -- speed is achieved without the expense of transparancy and soundstage. What you get is a very statisfying musical presentation that has the excitement of Naim amps with the elegant of a SET amp. This amp can sing with whatsoever music you throw at it.

It's time to settle down -- go get a Densen

definitely great value!!!

Strength:

Have a tight grip on the speakers, capable of brilliant transients, very transparent mids with a tight bottom. Able to drive tough loads with ease, sounds more powerful than the suggested ratings.

Weakness:

Bass is a bit light sounding (though it is tight), very very fussy with partnering equipment

Have been toying with this hobby for a long time and have tried and owned a large variety of amp, until now I am still amazed at the way each amp is able to change the entire spectrum of music.

When I decided to build a 2nd setup for my bedroom, I looked for a non-obtrusive and good looking amp to fit into the decor of my room. A trip to my dealer's showroom, the Densen immediately caught my eyes. Sleek, clean and absolutely sexy look (I know my wife will not object to this amp).

A quick listen at the showroom tells me I am listening to something very special. Prior to this, within my Audiophile journey, I always thought PRAT and transparency are 2 very separate entity. My previous Naim setup have excellent speed and transient, there is so much energy in the music, but I have to sacrifice transparency for the sake of all these qualities. The same can be said of offerings from Exposure and Linn. But upon firing up this Densen, my mindset was changed! It seems that I can have the best of both worlds, PRAT and transparency....

I decided to asked for a home-trial. Took the my new found toy back and hooked it up to my reliable Sony XA5ES and a pair of Harbeth P5, immediately, I know I am in for a treat! The way the amp handles vocals is simply astonishing! It is as though Diana Krall is singing right in front of need, and there is so much energy in the recording, I felt liven up...

Load in a Pat Coil : Steps, every transient snap and beat is revealed in a very musical fashion. This amp has excellent speed with good renderation of the soundstage.

However, I do perceived that the setup sounds slightly bright and edgy, I changed the Kimber Hero to a Chord Anthem, problem solved. It seems that cable matching is rather important.

This amp is very decent discovery for me. A quick check with the past issues of Stereophile : told me that this is a Class B recommended product. Oh my, it seems that I have a very good catch this time. No doubt, at this price, this amp certainly deserves the aclaim.
