This amp clearly came out on top - even used - driving the Maggies in my system and at $200, it was a great deal.
It presented a massive sound stage with very good inner definition and separation.
But the timbre of instruments,
their immediacy, presence and the smoothness of vocals set this amp apart for me.
It has the power to drive crescendos without strain or harshness.
Bass on the Maggies that's deep - for them - extremely well defined and surprisingly throaty.
You pretty quickly forget it's working and just hear music.
Highly recommended and if you don't like it,
sell it easily to someone who will.
Be sure to use the THX inputs and run the input levels all the way up.

This is one fantastic "does it all' amp! I have had a shameful amount of amps over the years and this one has held it's own regardless of price. It is rated a conservative 100 watts but it far surpasses that rating! The sound is stunning. I paid $40 craigslist for this little gold nugget! It is by far one of the best audio deals that I have made. I have had Jeff Rowland, Krell, Mark Levinson and many other high end amps that I can't even remember and this sings along with them. When I first bought it it sounded a little shrill and I was doing an A and B with my Adcom 555II, which is another sleeper amp. I turned it on and let it sit for 3 days and went back and it opened up churned out some beautiful music! Strings and vocals came to life and there was a concert in my living room that went on till early in the morning. With the volume control on front there is no need for a preamp. It can switch to mono with a flip of a switch. It will make an excellent amp for surround or stereo. I have it coupled with a Dynco tube cd player and the two are a match made in heaven. If opportunity presents itself don't hesitate to jump on this puppy! The ratings from the rest of the audio freaks should speak for itself. Audio Nirvana that competes with the big boys, although they would not admit it because of the thousands that they have in their amps, been there, done that!

I bought my NAD 2400 THX on EBay about a year ago. This is the best $150 I have ever spent on audio equipment. Sure, it has a few nicks and scratches but I think it gives it character. I run my ASUS STX sound card into a tube preamp and into my NAD. Audio sounds airy yet punchy with articulate highs and tight bass. My Allison Fours have never sounded better whilst in my company. Great amp!

Strength:

Power controll and good freqency responce. Value for money, can't be better.

Weakness:

Ugly design, not as stringent that on newer nad equipment.

About a year ago, I got my hand on a NAD 2400 ($150)(Not the THX stamped model, but the org. PE.). My taught was to use this amplifier in bridged mode driving a sub. I could not decide if I were to build this sub myself or buy a sub-kit (-amplifier), so I decided to test the amplifier in stereo. However I rewired my NAD 320 and used this to drive the new amp, curios about how this would sound. And WOW!, the result was amazing! I’ll guess the C320 lacked the power to control my fairly large speakers, but the 2400 definitely didn’t. Kept playing my CD-collection over and over again, amazed over all the details I newer had heard before. (This was also improved by a using a dedicated preamplifier C116.) As I was surfing the local HiFi ads, I found a second NAD 2400($280) (Mint) and I bought this just for test how the stereo would sound with a bridged NAD2400 per channel. And again the result was more than a noticeable improvement. The bass is now even more rock solid controlled, than what was the cases when using a single NAD2400, and also more details are revealed in the upper frequencies. Major benefit using the bridged amplifier per channel was that the stereo image was much improved. Buying the NAD stuff second hand is a good investment.

Strength:

Power. Able to power 2 speaker pairs. Build like a tank. Make cheap speakers sound a milion bucks!

Weakness:

Boring NAD grey...but looks rather good if you have matching NAD equipment to go with it.

What a solid power amp? Reserves of power to tackle any material you can throw at it. Extremely musical and neutral sounding. I had used only a vintage NAD3020 with my kef coda 7s, then added this amp with the 3020 as a pre-amp as I was listening to more and more orchestras and d n B. My speakers were on the list for the next upgrade, but the 2400 made them sound so much better than with just the 3020 that I still haven't found a need to. They don't make them like they used to, this is made in Japan and feels like it will last forever. Keep the power on at all times to keep the electronics warm, cycling power can reduce the life of this amp. Enjoy!

Strength:

Where do I start?

Weakness:

None that I can think of..

I've had this unit for a little over a year, and I must say; this is one of the best investments I'll ever make. I also have the 2600, and when you have these two units working in tandem you will experience a bit of magic. I only use the 2400 for my rear speakers, but it could easily run my main speakers with no problem. If you like to listen to your music loud and clear then this is the amp for you. This amp will make lower quality speakers sound better then they were designed to.

Strength:

Sufficient power for most speakers. Very balanced and smooth sound. It is also relatively feature-rich for an amp because of the A-B switch and gain control. Soft-clipping works well too.

Weakness:

None that I can think of at this price range. I did hope for better binding posts though, but banana plug is good enough for me.

This is a surprisingly good amplifier given the price. Prior to this I used a pair of Marantz MA500s and they were ok. When I got to this it really opened up the music. I originally intended to use it through a mid-high end receiver (as preamp) and just power couple regular speakers, but I ended up plugging it directly to a CD player (it has gain control) and it sounds even better than my other Yamaha RX-V1 setup with the same model speakers.

Strength:

great detail and plenty of natural bass extention.

Weakness:

none that i know of

tried the 5 channel 30 wpc nad with my marantz 5000 receiver
in unbridged mode and the sound was very bright and harsh.
bridged the nad to 3 channel and the sound gained a tremendous amount of bass and mid yet sounded dull.
tried a cambridge audio a3 integrated amp and it sounded
amazing. it was a demo and had noise emitting out of the unit and returned it. searched for another a3 but it was all sold out replaced by new model. tried a rotel 976 which sounded great on 5 channel but was not able to test the 2 channel performance. had second thoughts about spending 1000.00 for ht.
saw the nad 2400 used for 250.00cnd took it home and thought the bass sounded deeper, more mid presence, louder volume but still sounded dull. brought it back and picked up a week later to use while looking for better amp and then use for center channel later. in the process of upgrading cables i bought used audioquest quartz for 75.oo
the original package had a 275.00 price on it. using it between my denon 370 cd changer/msb dac and receiver theat brought some life to the sytyem. replaced the monster 550i between the receiver and the 2400 and musical nirvana. all for 250. the nad sounds great
