Strength:

Plenty of power for the price

Weakness:

None that I could tell of

My home theater was anchored by the Marantz SR880 receiver. While this receiver is an excellent piece and I really love it, I have been wanting to upgrade to a seperates based system and upon reading all of the glowing reviews on this piece, I purchased it. I must say that it is truly a great piece of equipment. Right away I was able to hear a clarity in the sound that I had not heard before. As I like to listen at loud volumes, the 750 made the sound so much more clear, it revealed detail that was buried to the point where it woke my wife out of a sound sleep one night when we we were watching a movie we had seen a few times already and she commented on how the gunshots sounded so much better to the point of sounding real. The bass is also much tighter then it was before. I must say that we are happy to have made the purchase and are looking forward to the pre-amp they will be putting out soon. In the end, I highly recommend this amp to anyone in the market for a very good amp, and even better, a very good inexpensive amp.

Strength:

Soundstage and the right proportion on detain, never the way

Weakness:

no gain controls

My system consists of 1.5 year old Denon 2700 and klipsch ksf 8.5, ks-s5 (4), ks-c5 + Synergistic Alpha speaker wire, Kimpber PR4 for surrounds, and Alpha Sterling for front, AQ Topas center, hsu 1220 (2). So, being unhappy
with the sound of this ht system (compared to my small stereo system: Cambridge audio 50-70wt int + Nad cd-player, Alpha sterling, T-4 and Quintas (german) 160 speakers), I figured it out that it must be Denon. After a while its ``mellow'' sound started to drive me crazy when I listened to the stereo music, and no stable soundstage, whatsoever. When I learned about Denon 4800-EX, I thought that is what I need: more power, etc. I went to our local retailer and listen to it: what a disappointment - no principal difference compared tp 2700 (again having in ming Cambridge Audio & NAD setup sound), though of course, many like it, as I did. So, I decided to try something different and narrowed my choice to ATI 1505, Parasound 1205, and Outlaw.
From reviews, I wanted Parasound (higher slew rate promised
more dynamics). I was scared by one review (in eAcoustic, or so) about ATI, saying
that it excites you first (by its disproportional highs), then you may hate (it was like my experience with Denon). Outlaw promised all the package at a good price, and not being in the way in terms of listening. So, I was thinking I buy it and then another, e.g., Parasound 1500 for fronts in 7.1 setup, if I don't like it. BUT I LOVE IT. After a month+ listening I absolutely love it (more that CA&NAD system in stereo). The soundstage is so stable and excellent, so when you listen to the music you even don't remember that you should analyze it. I can listen at any level of volume to get all the details (impossible with Denon) and the soundstage. In movies it is so involving and embracing, completely new level. Plus note that I still use Denon as a processor and amplification for my rear surrounds. So, I am waiting for a new Outlaw pre/pro, to get it all, including 7.1 set up. Some people complained about the bass reproduction: I split preouts from Denon to HSU subs, the effect is tremendous (much better if I use the hsu crossover-it kills liveliness somehow). I literally jumped out of the couch and started to run amok (it never happened to me before though I watch a lot of movies) when I was watching the air crash scene in the Fight club. I tried it without subs: my wife thought I still using the subs. Please note: cabling was very essential in my case: I tried various things and by far (very far) Synergistic Alpha Sterling is the best in my set up so far. The sound is much smoother, detailed and immediate (and I mean by far). Interestingly, that some people complain about harshness of Klipsches: It is gone no. I actually thought that one of the reasons for my previous unhappiness was the speakers. But now I doubt it. The open life-like sound of theirs is addictive and you cannot substitute it (in my opinion) by other approaches. I listen to some other systems
in the stores (like Vienna, Krell, electrostatic speakers, up to, I think $20, 000, and enjoy my little stereo system), and I think they are great, and if I had the money I would buy them. But on the other hand,
I think they (especially) MartinLogans are rather like a curiosity in a way.

Strength:

Power! Solid Construction. Remote trigger on. Binding posts.

Weakness:

none for me.

I bought the amp from outlaw after reading reviews on this site and in every audio/HT mag out. I primarily use it for HT and it's a great amp for that purpose. I have never been able to listen loud enough to make it clip. It provides more power than I could ever need. Whether it's gunfire, cannons, or any other sound effect, it never comes up short. Drives all 5 channels flawlessly and simultaniously. For music the amp is very clean. No hums from the unit itself or my speakers. Just nice clean sound. The remote trigger is a nice feature to have. The unit is built very well, heavy as a tank, with nice quality inputs and binding posts. A detachable power cord might've been nice, but if it would've cost more than i'm fine without it. My room is rectangular and faily typical: 23'x14' with 8'ceiling. I'm running all Def.Tech non powered speakers and the Def.Tech PF18TL subwoofer. For the price I paid, I don't think I could have purchased a better amp. Maybe not even for twice what I paid:) Highly recommended.

Strength:

Plenty of power, detail.

Weakness:

Does not have delayed relay when turning it on. So all your speakers get the initial surge. I expect this on all 1K+ amps.

I like the output on this amp thus far. It brings out the nuances that I did not get with the Carver AV-505. To be fair the Carver is only 80wpc, which is kindda on the thing side when you consider the speakers it drives.
My setup is as follows

Def Tech 2000TL mains (bipole 6.5"x4, 1"x2 and 15" 500 watt sub)

Def Tech CLR2000 centre (6.5"x2, 1"x1)

Def Tech BP10B (2x5.1/4",2x1")

Manrantz AV-9000 Pre/Pro

Pioneer DV-505 dvd player

I really disliked the fact that the output is not delayed wheny ou power up. This would protect your speakers from the initial spike. I have this on my Carver and I wish they have it in the Outlaw. Other than that, I am pretty happy with it.

Strength:

Extraordinary clarity and sonic dispersion potential; steadfastness; huge power. Unbelievable customer service.

Weakness:

Goofy logo. Weighs as much as a Buick.

This is the best amp one can find for under $10,000. I am stunned. The buying experience was totally and uniformly positive.

Strength:

Tight, clear, even

Weakness:

None yet

I've had this for less than a week, so here is the initial impression. It delivers tight base, clear mid and high notes. I listened to Eric Clapton and friend DVD and I was able to hear every single instruments. So far I am impressed. However, I suspect that after a month of breaking in this will sound even better. For 7 monthes, I looked and listened to Acurus, Sherwood, Sony, Bryston, NAD, Parasound, and Rotel before buying this amp. So far this is the best amp for the bucks and quality for the money.
