Great, great, amp, and was a truly amazing bang for the buck, probably one of the best values in high end audio, a real work of audio perfection.... Sound is still very real, and vaults skyward with Acoustic Zen WOW, interconnects, and Transparent Plus Cables, along with AudioQuest powercords . I've owned this amp, along with an MC100 CD player for about 10 years now, and I'm sad that the original Myryad M series is no longer available... I haven't found anything comparable for the money since 2004.... Koodos to Chris Evans and the boys at the once venerable Myryad, you created a master piece of amp that rocks all up and down my myriad of musical tastes.

Strength:

Incredible Dynamic & speed for its size and output, Tonal balance, Sound Clarity, Airy & open sound, LED Volume indication, Handy remote etc...

Weakness:

Low-price eletronics components used (caps, resistors etc..) However, with this low pricing components it still has good sound quality. A little grainy on Mid-High range (may be because of the cheap parts used)

No Phono input (not even a module upgrade)

Bass may not be solid and quick enough compared to some high end like Krell & Cello.

Thickness in Midrange compared to high end combo like ARC.

I 've got my used MI120 for only US400. I bought this amp because of all the good review comments from magazines all over the world. yes, curiosity !

I am the guy who always like to seek for best sound/price components in the used markets, even though I own ARC & Krell pricy amp.

The best part of this amp is the overall tonal balance which has the equal energy response through out the freq. spectrum.

I don't know how you guys decribe it in English but I would say its sound is very detailed. Sound of MI120 is presented in detailed manner like engraving (with strength) compared to water color painting in some other amps.

I always think Audiolab 8000A is the classic amp in British now I know there is something else.

For this price (even for a brand new), I do not think you could find any better. Please let me know if there is one and I will try to give it a listen.

Strength:

Solid construction. No nonsense approach. Sans-gimicks. Nothing added to or subtracted from the music.

Weakness:

If you're not using a magnetic phono input take care with the Aux. input. My unit had a pre-amp module. I don't use LP records any longer.

It looks great. I'm so glad there are no tone, balance, equalizer, phase, loudness or other distortion adding controls. the simplicity is wonderful: Power it on, select the input, adjust the volume and listen, listen, listen.

The Myryad line is the first time I've found anything made in England to rival American, German or Japanese products.

My son produces high-efficiency audiophile quality speaker systems known as Hammer Dynamics. He suggested that I stay away from high wattage units. He was right. Using the Myryad with his speakers allowed me to hear the instruments with clarity and definition. I've never heard such an honest sound. If you're into gadgets, this is not the unit for you. It has few bell and whistles. If you're into music, this is the amp you need to hear.

Strength:

Honesty. Style.

I'm in love with this amp! I tested: LUA vacuum tubes amp and SAC (very acclaimed in Germany), Marantz PM 17 and some others in the price range 1000 - 1200 USD

Soundwise the Myriad beats them cause it's honest, doesn't color the music, doesn't make believe the stage is bigger etc

Lookswise it beats them anyway - just look at it!! 6 mm brushed aluminum front, no unnessecary buttons, nice features - like the link possibility, a decent remote, the clever mute function.

I'll kick out my Sony CD and replace it by a Myriad 100

Try the NoLimits FS cable, it brings out the details

Speakers: Tannoy sound awful, B&W Nautilus 805 - Audiodata Filou - Dynaudio 1.3 MK II are really good.

I recently purchased the Myryad M-120 Integrated Amp & like it alot! It is very dynamic & quick & does a great job with highs, lows, & everything in between. My speakers are NHT Superone's & an Infinity sub & the increase in power from my 35 watt old amp to the 60 watts of the Myryad seems to make a huge difference! I had heard that the Myryad's optional phono stage was not that good so I opted for an outboard phono stage (Rotel) & my vinyl has never sounded better! All in all a great integrated amp! Seems to be a guality built piece & the remote is easy to operate. Myryad dealers are hard to find- but the M-120 is a great sounding amp!

Strength:

So musical nothing else seems matter

Weakness:

remote control - buttons are of equal size and in no particular order

This is a very well designed amp that conveys music effortlessly. It 's so involving that all the high end attributes soon become meaningless. But if one day you wake up and the insecure audiophile in you want to count and locate heads in a choral performance; the amp will not disappoint either.

The MI120 has a beautifully balanced tonal structure that allows you to play everything from Nick Drake to Midori; Bruckner to Tool - and play them well. The kind of coherence that Myryad offers is so sadly lacking in many of today's high end components - they all tend to favour sound effects rather than music performance.

The Myryad is fairly neutral and hence is more demanding on upstream components. It's also very responsive to good power treatment - good power cord/conditioner will enhance its performance - leading to a more natural presentation. I bi-amp my MI120 with the MA120 to superb effect - but rest assure that , in musical context, MI120 alone will provide a very statisfactory performance. Add good built quality, superb styling and a reasonable price you will understand my enthusiasm for this amp.

6 stars for value rating. The extra star is for its coherence which is a rare find today. Very highly recomended.

Strength:

Superlative sound and build quality for the price

Weakness:

absolutely nothing

I absolutely agree with John, the Myryad MI-120 is an exzellent amplifier. It has that "magic sound" I am looking for. Perfect, very fine resolution of details, good dynamics with no harshness (!), beautifull open soundstage and an overall natural balance like no other in its price-range.
Add an exceptionally good build-quality and superlative design and you see (and hear) a clear winner. 100 % recomended.

Strength:

It lets you hear everything in the music without being over-analytical.

Weakness:

The optional phono input module doesn't include a new label for the Aux button or sockets - the latter could cause damage.

A very even-handed amplifier that doesn't favour electronic instruments over acoutic ones, a failing of the Arcam I discovered on listening comparisons. The Myryad allows you hear each musical strand while still keeping the overall performance to the fore, unlike the Audiolab that somehow makes an orchestra sound less than the sum of its parts. Tonal balance is similar to the old Rotel but, of course, the more modern and expensive Myryad sounds better in every respect. It only rates 4 stars for value as I feel that the price range it inhabits shows signs of the law of diminishing returns compared with the budget end of the scale. With the overall rating I cannot give more than 4 stars as I feel 5 should be reserved for kit that costs thousands and sounds like it.

No one has seen fit to post any reviews of Myryad products on these pages, so as a proud, and happy, owner of the MI 120 may I contribute to a redressing of this omission.
First I have to say: if you are looking for an amplifier which looks like a traditional "audiophile" product forget this. The Myryad looks very sleek, superb bulid quality and design. And, heaven forbid, it even comes with a remote control with convenient features which prevent you from blowing up your speakers (in the mute mode you can only turn the volume down, if you try to turn it up mute is dis-engaged). Phono is optional, I haven't taken this option so cannot comment. It has six line level inputs, including two tape loops and pre-outs for bi-amplification. There is provision for headphones, the headphone amp drives my Sennheiser HD 600's superbly. Power output is rated at 60 watts into 8 ohm, although it has been shown to deliver 87/133 into 8/4 ohm. And will give 293 watts into 2 ohm short term: this amplifier will not worry about difficult speakers.

So how does it sound. Well when the MI 120 had its first outing some time ago and met with a mixed press response. This put me off, since then Myryad have effectively produced a "mark II" version with upgraded components. I have to say that it sounds quite excellent. I have had the opportunity to compare it with (the slightly more expensive) Audiolab 8000S. I would not like to say that it is a better amplifier, neither would I say it is worse, but it is different. For me it is easier on the ears, it produces a smooth and detailed sound which has a very "English sound", it is accurate without being so analytical to make poor recordings sound unlisten-able. Treble and mid-range are well integrated into a substantial but taught bass. I listen only to classical music and have yet felt no regret in this purchase. However I have no doubt that rock and pop fans will welcome the ample supply of watts!

This amplifier is worth four and a half stars, but as I am in a good mood I will give it five. Check it out, good performer, good looking and convenient.

I've owned this amp for over a year now, and I'm still very happy with it.It's got a big, powerfull sound that belies it's 60 watt power rating, in fact Hifi Choice measured a continuous power of over 80 watts into 8 ohms with both channels driven, and these ratings double as the impedance halves, so it should drive almost any speaker on the market with no problems at all.
It's build is even better, beating most of the competition hands down.
Some might find the sound a little dry, though.
I'd rate it:

4 stars for sound quality
(I don't think any amp in this price bracket would qualify for five stars)
5 stars for build quality
(which is exceptional)

So 5 stars overall!
