The YBA integre DT is the best solid state amplifier in its price range i've
ever heard. The sound is open, very neutral and especially good in fine dynamics
and tone. The soundstaging is precise and deep.Musicians have a real of space
around them and the sizing of these individual parts(voices included)is
exellentely proportioned to the inherent form sound in the recording.
The quality of transparency is just amazing!and it is real transparency not an
artificial one produce by an accentuation of the treble register. The treble is
to die for:rich, pure with very high extension without harshness or brightness.
You can hear all the subtilities and nuances of the interpretations. All the
acoustics sound true especially baroque violins or cello (very difficult to
reproduce)and the Piano...a Steinway D274 sounds like a D274,a Bosendorfer
like a Bosendorfer and a Bechtein like a Bechtein. All the harmonics are there
even the quality of silence are palpable.
Defaults? Yes,match him carefully because its transparency reveals all the qualities and defaults of the source and recordings, its very sensitive to cables
too
Compare it to Krell Kav 300i (which costs twice the price of the YBA DT in France...more than 4000$!!)the YBA sounds finest and more natural, tone
(especially the treble and the medium)and transparency are much better.
On the other hands, the Krell has a more full bodied sound due perhaps to a
better extension in the Bass (and is also superior in terms of driving abilities
for very low sensitives speakers: 150W vs 50W)but it gives less emotion to me.
In addition,The DT version is much better than the basic integre especially for
the bass and the soundstaging (deeper, wider with better relief)
By the way,it's not a surprise but the YBA DT sounds incredible with YBA CD
players like the CD2..( another great product from YBA)

Five stars for musicality and five stars for quality/price it's a real bargain
and the price in USA is the same as the price in France!

The YBA Integre DT is a fabulous performer, it excels in all areas. The dynamics are very powerful, for example the drum solos sound like drum solos. The clarity, from the highs to the midrange, are astounding. Bass is
well defined and fast. This amp doesn't add or subtract from the music, a very accurate performer. The sound is also neutral, the tonal balance is perfect not too dark or bright.
There is one slight problem to this amp, that is the power issue. If
you like to listen to your music loud then look somewhere else. However, this amp is made for accuracy not for sheer loudness. Bass in some setups might be mistaken to be thin, because this amp is very accurate, not adding or taking away from the music.
Pair this amp with clear and neutral components, because the sound can easily sound too dark or too bright. This amp reveals flaws in your system,
therefore don't be afraid to match it with components that cost well past their price. Powercords, speakercable, and interconnects make a huge difference to the way the unit will sound. This amp is very unforgiving, if you, for example,
add this with a somewhat bright cd player, the brightness will stick out alot.
If you satisify this amp with accurate components you will be rewarded with rich sound that will make more expensive pre-power seperates a run for their money.
This amp is a champ when it comes to accuracy and dynamics. Don't play this amp too loud and you can enjoy it's dynamics. One more thing, pair this integrated with accurate components and cables (even if it costs alot more than this unit itself). For an integrated this is an excellent value, you can definitely say this is the best sound you'll get for an integrated or seperate pre-power combination in it's price range and beyond, so far.

I have owned a YBA Integre DT for the past two + years and think it is stillthe best integrated amp that I have heard. It excels in all the usual areas
that audiophiles care about and is still one of the most musical amps on
the market; although lately tubed amps have been interesting me. For me to
enjoy an audiophile product for as long I have the Integre speaks volumes
for the sound. Five stars all the way ...

after finally settling on jmlab cobalt speakers, I auditioned a few amps in this (USD 1000-1500) range, including Bryston, Adcom, Creek, Parasound and some more(to be honest, I didn't have a chance of auditioning all of them with Cobalts except for Onkyo and Rotel).YBA Integre was a clear winner. On the first movement of Beethoven's 9, it revealed detail in both quiet and loud passages, and the perceived level change was stunning. If the CD was able to play 24, not 16, bits - it would reveal it all. Yet the amp was truly musical, not going into analytic dryness. It's indeed a 'straight wire with gain', but somehow this wire does it! A five star indeed.
Of the YBA range, I auditioned the plain Integre L (USD1450), dual-monoblock Integre DT/R (USD1800) and the 'AR Complete', USD900, which claims to be an YBA design yet has no YBA logo (It's on YBA web site anyway).
The L and DT amps didn't show difference at the volumes I used. The 'AR Complete' is one notch below in all aspects - less low-level resolution, less piano-forte explosion, and it was audibly 'there' while Integra's somehow dissolved in between the speakers.

This is an excellent amplifier indeed. I listened to an assorment of different amplifiers before making the purchase--B&K, Sunfire, Classe, Linn, Anthem, Krell etc, and the YBA is clearly the best (for my taste). It is neutral, detailed, and very smooth. It doesn't have any of the transistor edge, and is the SS amplifier under $4k that sounds smoothest in its mids and highs, in my opinion. (It even sounds smoother than the 3 Copland tube amps that I listened to.) Yet it has tighter bass and better control, imaging, and transparency than most tube amps in the price range--it's the best of both worlds.
The quality of build is impeccably meticulous, and the YBA is a product that will last. The satisfaction of ownership is very high.

This is the only solid state amp that I'm interested in under $4k, and I'm glad that I chose it.

(I use the amp with ProAc Response 1SCs, EAD DSP-7000 III/HDCD DAC, Sony DVP-S7000 as transport.)

I am presently using my YBA Integré DT amp with KEF's Reference Series Model 2 and my CD player is the Naim CD3.5. This setup has been wtih me since 1997, wtih the exception of the Naim, which I purchased only two months ago (I had previously been using Arcam's Alpha 8).
Now for the sound. It is 'simply musical', to quote YBA's slogan. I have never heard anything more wonderful. I personally feel that it outperforms even my cousin's $18,000 Linn/Meridian/AudioNote system.

To illustrate how marvellous it is, I have ever listened to it non-stop for six whole hours without getting tired of it. I am very surprised that YBA is a relatively unknown brand. Still, I prefer it this way, for all their sets are, in my firm opinion, priced way below their actual worth.

I strongly believe that YBA ought to change their slogan to 'Simply the Best'!

This is a fantastic amp. I agree with the previous reviewer that George and Steve (both from Canada with essentailly the same ip address) are the same person and obviously has a bias towards the Classe. My decision was whether to get this amp or the Classe CAP150 used. I was only hesitant regarding the YBA because I wondered if they could drive my relatively inefficient speakers, Clestion 100s, 84 db/w/m and 8 ohms. I should not have worried, the amp drives them as easy as a hot knife through butter and at very high volume levels without clipping. 50 watts is a conservative estimate of the power and the dual mono construction really allows enough amperage to drive most speakers. My room is 12x16x10, not big but not small either and this amp fills it to the brim. It gives a wonderful soundtage and the best imaging and transparency I have ever heard. The power of the amp can be heard with dynamic pieces, the attack was superb. I have read every review available and most bemoan the fact that this amp might not have the "bass" more powerful amps have. The truth is that this amp has more than enough power to produce REALISTIC levels of bass, it doesn't enhance the bass as the Krell might. I have compared this amp with the Krell 300i, Plinius 2100i and the classe CAP-150. This is hands down the best of the bunch. To put this in perspective, I listen to all types of music, including jazz, acoustic, rock and classical. This amp replaced my creek 4240SE. My speakers are celestion 100, sources are a thorens 166 mkii turntable with a grado platinum cartridge and a rotel CD 970, the phono preamp is a lehmann black cube.

I have owned a DT for six months. Bought it used for $ 1,800.00 It does sound nice, but not at all musical as the hype says. Because it is so revealing, it is very very analytical and must be closely matched with compatible speaker cables and so on. Too bad "Al from Florida" had to qualify as "insecure ear" the reviewer before him because he does not share his point of view. The real insecurity comes from not admitting that while the YBA is a great product, it does come short on power on certain applications. I have been offered to trade my YBA in for a used Classé cap 151 and I will go ahead with the trade. I should have bought it in the first place as it has sweeter highs, better municality, fantastic transparency, and much more power ( 150 watt/ch ) than the YBA ( 50 watts) for about the same price. Both are fine amps, however, the Classé in my book being a much better value. As in all things here it's a matter of taste! YBA = 2 for sound, 4 for meticulous build quality, 1 for value....

Nice sound, but way too underpowered at 50 watts to be a serious buy in this price range filled with 150 sublime-sound watts from Plinius and Classe. If you have a small room, you could enjoy this amp. Otherwise, it's sounds cold and dry when driven past it's intended purpose, which means soft and accurate. Would deserve a 5 if it was $ 1,000.00 cheaper. Sorry, competition is tough !
