I bought a Rotel Stereo DC Power Amplifier Model No. RB-1000 and my two output IC's have gone bad. I have tried relentlessly to find an agent or someone selling the model IC but to no avail.
Can you help me please?

I would be uncomfortable checking the AUDIOPHILE button - - do more listening than reviewing. However, since I have immensely enjoyed the music passing thru my 12 or 15 months old RC 995 ROTEL pre-amp, I thought I should let anyone else out there puzzled over how to get musical value and performance for you money know I consider this unit an exceptional performer and have never looked back.
After comparing 2 or 3 rungs in the line below this one, it was to my ears a better sounding more musical truth kind of result I was looking for. This, after spending a couple of days listening to stratospherically priced units in the HIGH END rooms. Returns diminished down to this fine pre-amp so the budget could upgrade (with time) some of my other "weak links" in my hmble system. I do a lot of headphone listening when all is quiet, too, and found the separate headphone amp at least on a par with anything I ever have heard. Still think the sound is a bit tipped up, but it may be my old stats are too bright as they slowly fade with the years. I am sure some of the lunatic fringe priced gear sounds better, but for the best I heard in price ranges up to say $2500 or so, this will do. BTW the RC995 I own is dead quiet -- no hiss, no buzz, no hummmmm, no pops or clicks, just music with timbre, air, tight deep bass, very smooth mids, and perhaps slight grain at the very top - - or dead quiet. It is a 5 unless you want to pay 3 or 4 times more and call it something less.

Strength:

Quality of components and design.
Ease of use.
'Plugability'
Balanced outputs.

Weakness:

Some build problems.
'Recording indicator' doesn't appear to work with new remote.
Manual is a bit vague.

The ideal pre-amp, which is transparent to the system.
It faithfully reproduces all that is applied to it's input stage to the wide range of outputs, without adding colouration to the sound.
If it didn't have the few (small) build problems found, it would be the perfect pre-amp.

Excellent two channel preamp. Clean audio in, clean audio out, no fuss. Balanced outputs are great together with my Genelec active speakers.

Weakness:

Would be nice to have detachable power cord?

Wow, this is a nice preamp. I originally owned a Rotel 1070 pre and almost immediately wanted to upgrade it. I demoed all of the above and coupled with my Rotel 991 power amp nothing sounded better than the 995.

The bass is so amazing. It's tight, defined, tuneful and it delivers enormous impact and subtle nuance with equal skill. The soundsatge exists for the first time in my system and it's alovely thing indeed. This preamp is so musical (a subjective phrase if ever there was one). It just gets the feeling, the texture of music right (for me). I checked out the Rogue 66 and CJ PV 10 tube preamps and while they offered more texture they suffered (severely) in the bass department) and the texture they provided didn't feel as "right" as the Rotel. I know 2 salesmen who sell supr expensive tube gear and Rotel solid state. Both say that the Rotel stuff offers the best musicality (there's that damn word again) and price/performnace ratio of the solid state gear that they're familar with.

The mids and highs are soooo beautiful. Listening to Natalie Merchant or Sarah McLachlan sing is a truly emotionaly engaging experience. Cymbals and bells have just an amazing tone and an attack/decay and sense of dimensionality that enriches the listening experince enormously.

This preamp originally sold for $900. It now retails for $700 if you can find a new one (it's been discontinued). I got mine used for $550 and I'd have to say it is a killer bargain between $500 and $600.

I can't rcommend this preamp highly enough. If you're in the market for a pre up to $1,500 I would give this serious consideration.

Strength:

Amazing sound stage, detail, bass slam, overall sound quality

Weakness:

Build quality refects price.

I bought this amp to hold me over until I had the cash to by a Krell preamp. I have slowly been building a high end system and the last piece to buy was the preamp. I have been using an Adcom preamp up to this point. When a purchased my power amp (Krell KSA-100S), I wanted to take advantage of the balanced inputs, so I went to the local Hi-Fi shop and bought the Rotel. When I hooked this thing up, I was simply amazed at the sound quality out of the box. After burning in for about a week, It sounded even better. Great dynamics, soundstage, bass tauntness/slam, and smooth accurate highs. This preamp doesn't look like much, but boy, it's dam musical. I decided not to buy that Krell Preamp. Here's the equipment list:

Krell CD-DSP CD Player D/A Converter
Rotel RC-995 Preamp
Krell KSA-100S Power Amplifier
Audioquest Granite 8' speaker cables
Paradigm Studio 100's Speakers

Strength:

Great price, completely quiet, clean high-end sound, bonus phono stage!

Weakness:

Appearance is consistent with its price

I actually bought this for my son to complement his "smaller" sound system. Out of curiousity, I hooked this up to my system, and was incredibly surprised by the quality sound of this component. My system was built incrementally over the last 12 years and consists of the following components :

CD : Krell KAV-300cd
Power Amp : Krell KSA-100 (I also used a Bryston 4B ST to audition this set-up)
Cables : All Cardas Hexlink
Speakers : KEF 107 with KUBE

I suspected that the weak link in my system was my 10 Year Old Pre-Amp (California Audio Labs SLC-1 Line Level Pre-Amp)and this inexpensive Rotel Pre-Amp clearly outperformed the SLC-1 at every level. This new Rotel cost me $700 Canadian ($475 US)and is an amazing bargain. I'm in the process of upgrading my system, and I will probably end up with a better pre-amp than the Rotel (my son wants it back), but it will cost me a minimum of $2,000 and probably more. I'm shocked that there are no reviews on this marvellous little pre-amp, and it should be rated at the top of its class in the under $1500 price range. BARGAIN! BARGAIN! BARGAIN!

Strength:

Very open sound, airy.. Great seperation while being smooth...

Weakness:

none

I tried many other pre-amps, like NAD silver Series, Dennon, Parasound, and Yamaha..

Man, this thing rocks.. My music sounds so alive, I hear things I never heard before.. When using this pre with a rotel power amp (i'm using the Rb-985), it sounds so sweet..
The soundstage is so awesome, and the depth of the music is unreal.. Female and male voices are VERY smooth.

This baby has lots of gain in the volume control.. I'm using B&W 604 S2 speakers for my mains, and man this pre amp at 10:00 position with my power amp makes the speakers move like nuts... with no distortion what so ever,, just clean clean clean smooth smooth sound..
I will never give this up..

Strength:

Very clean, clear sound -- unobtrusive

Weakness:

NA

Basically this is the pre-amp you're looking for if what you
want is a clean straight-wire with gain pre-amp. This, coupled with the Rotel 991 Power amp, simply gets out of the way of the music and allows you to hear your source as it was recorded. All the standard audiophile accolades apply: sound stage is huge, noise level (especially with the XLR cables) is low!, dynamics are clean and undistorted. Subterranean Bass. Flat. etc.
I still listen to music with old tube gear, but I like the neutrality of these Rotel solid state devices. Powerful and clean. Enjoy ;-)

to advertise in,never again will I trust & buy your products & mags who's in kahoot with you.
