Strength:

Sonido preciso y potente

Strength:

Price, appearance, represents a great sound value (power per dollar ratio is impressive)

Weakness:

The remote is useless, Midrange slightly lacking,

I bought this unit in May of this year. I did some shopping around and decided that if I didn't need A/V capabilities, that I wanted to purchase the cleanest, most potent amount of power for the dollar. I don't need all the fancy features. I am running Polk RT25i bookshelfs with a PSW350i sub for bass. The bass output without the sub connected is pretty weak, but I suspect that is partially the fault of the speakers. They have only 5 1/4" drivers. The clarity is quite impressive at all frequencies, however. The upper end is well defined and bright, maybe too bright though. The bass is clean, and tight. The midrange seems to be a bit lacking though. Although it is extremely clear and transparent, the volume of it is a little lower than the rest of the frequency band. I can't seem to get the settings right. Maybe it is my speaker placement or subwoofer settings. Overall, I am quite happy with the sound of the receiver. We must take in to consideration we are talking about a receiver that is less than $200! Try getting a Sony, Onkyo or Pioneer that sounds this good for less than 2 Ben Franklins. Good luck.

One frustration with this receiver is the remote control. Besides not having many funtions on it, the volume controls moves way too quickly that when listening at low volumes, it is almost useless because you can't fine tune the output. Whatever engineer designed this one wasn't thinking logically.

Appearance-wise, this is a classic H/K design. Its beautiful and lets the listener know that they are hearing a quality product. Also, this unit has some great heat dispersion. My older receivers had cooling fans that couldn't keep their product as cool as this one which, by the way, doesn't come with a cooling fan. (It doesn't need one.) I use it hard, and it has never disliked any abuse I have thrown at it.

The bookshelf speakers that I am running are relatively small just as the rating of power for this unit (65w x 2 @ 8 ohms). Don't be fooled by its rating. This thing plays loud very effortlessly. I couldn't imagine wanting to listen to music beyond its capabilities. It wouldn't be smart if you want to hear sound beyond your 30th birthday.

Overall I give the HK3270 a 5-star rating for its power to $ ratio. If you want a reciever with features, save your money and buy a better one. For me, this will suffice!

Strength:

POWER, Looks, speaker clips, bass performance, heat dispersion, tuner performance (ok)

Weakness:

Harsh midrange, no loudness switch, tuner fidelity not as good as other inputs

Wow, this receiver has PUNCH. When I went to purchase a new receiver, i was little reluctant to buy this one because (a) I knew it had no loudness control and (b) is is only rated at 65 watts per channel. However, with a 4 ohm load the power is rated at 95 watts per channel so hook up those B speakers people.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with everyone on this page. This amp gets much louder and has far more bass than any of the cheap Japanese brand 100 watt-ers. I've owned two 100 watt Sony's and let me assure you, they had noticably less power than the H/K. There is a downside in the lack of a loudness circuit though. At low volumes (less than 25% on the dial) there is almost no bass at all. Not a good receiver for soft, nighttime, quiet listening But man, when you pass that point, the bass comes on with a rush, and there can be no complaint of power shortages thereafter.

Also of note is the A/B setup. Now, on the two Sony's i've had, and even the Technics, I am pretty sure they are connected in series (the A/B) lines, and sound quality and power noticably degrade when the b is switched on with the A in use. Not so with the H/K. No power loss at all (just gets louder) and no noticable change in fidelity.

Heat dispersion is also excellent. The two Sonys i had got VERY hot after extended play at even moderate volumes, but the H/K merely got warm.

Two problems i had with the unit. One, the tuner, while pulling in stations at least as good as the two Sonys (i think its better), has a serious bass deficiency which was not a problem in the aforementioned mass market brands. Two, and this is far more serious, is the extremely harsh midrange and upper midrange (like 1-8khz). Granted I have cheapish speakers (Pioneer CS-G304 and Yamaha NS-A638) but this was never a problem with the other receivers i owned, or at least not nearly as much. It sometimes gets to the point where CDs sound awful, especially if they have a high degree of midrange when they are mixed. I would strongly urge you to listen to this receiver with speakers similar to yours before buying. You'll thank me in the end.

The Sound, The Sound, The Sound

Weakness:

At this price range........NONE....NONE...NONE

First of all....This review is for the NEW HK3370 stereo receiver.....I must admit that I am an advid lover of the "DIGITAL REVOLUTION." However, after today I need to re-evaluate my dedication to digital....This simple, plain, stereo receiver has just "KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF." As I write this review, I am "JAMMING TO UNHEARD OF STEREO PLAYBACK" on a $200 piece of equipment. At first I was skeptical. I plugged in this receiver and guess what? No power...Oh Oh...DOA....But wait, there is a seperate power switch. There is a main power switch, and a system power control switch. The main power switch works as a system protect circuit. After you plug it up, push in the main switch and.....Walah........power.........This thing is truly beautiful.....It is a replica of the AVR7000........without all the gadgets...........It has a beautiful display, which can be dimmed. It has a sleep timer. It has A/B speaker switching. It has Preamp in/out and Main in/out. It has Phono input, CD, Tape, Aux inputs.......I compared the sound of this receiver with my Pioneer Elite 29TX........Guess what?........this little gem outshined it in stereo mode...I love my 29tx...........but the 3370 is superior in stereo mode..........I will now setup a system around my 3370 just for stereo playback............This thing is rated at 60 watts........dont be fooled............The current is 42amps........A lot of power.............What is most amazing to me is the sound.........I have the volume knob cranked up.........all the way round.........a 360........and guess what..........I have to put my ear "DIRECTLY ON THE SPEAKER TO HEAR ANY HISS." I tried this with my Pioneer Elite........I can only crank it up to a 2 o'clock position and I hear HISS. I love my 29TX.........but somehow........this Harman/Kardon stereo receiver is changing my way of thinking..........One drawback.........the remote is not up to par........but the 3470 has a programmble remote...........In a nutshell....you need to listen to the sound of this receiver........I am sure you will fall in love with it like I did........Happy Listening
