lights dim off time to time but hey its 20+ years old just got my 7070 i was worried maybe should of got a 8080 or even a 9090 .but hey there's plenty of power here this reciever really rocks .i've had a phase linear 700b amp and this thing sounds just as good .amazing good tuner ,phono sounds good ,and cds are crisp and clean .if you're listening to a newer reciever they just aren't in the same class .like that one dude said in his review of a 9090 the best sound a poor man can buy.amen........ NONE THAT I KNOW I bought this Sansui unit years ago, then moved from Canada to USA and gave it away after I bought a pioneer receiver top of the line at that time (few years back). Now I am about to throw away the Pioneeer and look for something else. It is a sad joke compared with the Sansui even the latter claims to have more technology :^(. I wish I could have my Sansui back. Was Sansui sold to Technics ?? How come these good amps are discontinued ? can someone tell ? Most of the receivers in stores today are made from cheap stuff and ridiculously expensive. Well, don't throw away those antiques that have pleased you for years to chase after those lavishly advertised products that you don't know much about, a lesson I learnt. Strength:
I think it is amazing, I have never needed anymore power
Weakness:
The right chanel fall out sometimes Mine reciver is the 8080, and it is from 1979. I think it is the best reciver I have ever had. It has a lot of power. But sometimes the right chanel falls out, but it comes back after some time. Especially if you are playing very loud. Similar Products Used: none |

The Sansui 7070 is a truly nice (and underrated) receiver. I don't think Sansui really gets the respect it deserves compared to the Marantz and Pioneer equipment of the same era. I had a 7070 which I sold only because I had purchased an 8080, one model up. I also now have a 9090DB, which is the top of the line in this series, and is a killer receiver. I delivers about 125wpc at 8 ohms (sounds like more!), and it is good clean power. Anyway, I would rate the 7070 5 stars because it is built like a tank, will run forever and still sound good. |

Strength:
Great smooth sound. Solid construction.
Weakness:
Old. You are SOL if it breaks. I got this stereo as a hand me down and used it for about 5 years. Then I upgraded and put the Sansui in the basement. Then I put my new stereo in the basement and moved the Sansui back upstairs. Go figure. Build quality is great. It won't break any eardrums, but it is silky smooth. I think it is a mid-70s model. Don't let this thing go if you have one. Similar Products Used: A bunch of other old silver stereos which broke |

Strength:
Well-made and lasts seemingly forever
Weakness:
Not Dolbly-digital I have had a 7070 since 1975 0r 76. Just last year it "went out." The power is completely gone. Is the transformer out? The local repair shops want over $100 just to open it up to find out. So I'm thinking of getting some Sony Dolby-digital receiver. By the way, I still have the original manual and the schematic diagram; I can copy the latter for anyone who needs it, if you send a self-addressed stamped envelop. E-mail for the particulars. |

Strength:
Clean, raw power.
Weakness:
Tuner sensitivity This was my first receiver, purchased in 76 or 77. At the time the only thing better was the Sansui 9090. This 7070 just keeps on cranking with good ol fashion raw power. I now use it to power some patio speakers only and rest assured the neighbors like this unit as well. It may now be a stereo antique as far as current A/V receivers go, but if you can find one grab it! It will do wonders for your music. Similar Products Used: Pioneer VSX9300 |

THIS IS THE ONLY STEREO, I HAVE EVER BOUGHT, AND HAVE NO INTEREST IN REPLACING. I BOUGHT IT IN 1978, AND IT HAS NEVER SEEN THE INSIDE OF A TECH SHOP! THE BEST BUY OF MY LIFE!
Weakness:
NONE A GREAT STEREO. KICK ASS SOUND!! WAY AHEAD OF IT'S TIME! |

Strength:
This receiver is just vantastic. I purchased it in 1977 and it still runs great.
Weakness:
No longer made I baught this receiver in 1977 and I love it. I am powereing two Tannoy Devon Studio minnitors and it sounds geeat. The only thing I had to get serviced was the tuner dial cord. Boy!!, This sure is more reliable then that H/C saround sound receiver that craped out in 6 mts. |

My question is , What do you think about a old Sansui 7070 Receiver. Some I know has one hardly used. Everthing works fine with it. Let me know what you guys think. This is my first time on here. Can you tell me how you will rate this. Thanks.... |
