I have one of these and I think it's awesome, but low on features. Try looking around for 70W RMS per channel at .007% THD!!! you won't find it for less than $700 and up, and those might be kits. Under $800 or so, there's plenty of stereo receivers at 100WPCH at .09% THD (.1% THD really!) and I bet the sansui puts out 100 or more at .09%. A keeper...

I bought one 8 month ago. Before I owned a Denon PMA-525R. Compared with the Sansui it looks and sounds just like a plastic toy. The 7070 is worth every penny I payed.

Eh - did I mention that I like my Sansui????

The 7070 has 60 watts per chanel but I have never heard a more power full receiver with the same power rating as this one has my dad bought it in 1978 it is the best stereo he has ever had I am glad he gave it to me. We have beat the shit out of it and it has never broke at all. its one hell of a stereo!

Hello Board,
My wife and I have been married for 28 years. Our Sansui 7070 has been blasting away and providing us with constant great audio for 24 of those years...that is an unbelievable amount of trouble-free use. It's clean, loud and powerful...it never has struggled to keep up with my volume demands (sort of like crusing at 70 mph with a 400 horsepower motor). Yesterday, the Sansui
experienced its first problem...the right side of the stereo channel has stopped working (when you press in the mono switch, the right side does kick in). Now, who can I trust to fix it? If anyone does have a schematic or could point me in a direction to obtain one, or has a recommendation for a great repairman near Nashville, I would appreciate it much. It seems to hold true again...they don't make 'em like they used to. I've enjoyed everyone's comments.

Peace......
Craig

Strength:

POWER- Its just killer all the way around

Weakness:

So far everything works great. All of the lights, meters inputs, outputs, buttons, filters everything.

Just happens to park next to it. Lying right there with a few busted VCRS. So I dust it off and take it home plug the thing in and shazam! I've got the biggest badest stereo of all.

Similar Products Used:

Killer old 70's amps.

I have a Sansui G-7500. My Father bought it 20 years ago. It's about the same age as I am! I still use it today with my Cerwin Vegas. I also have a Technics SAEX510, but it doesnt match the Sansui in clarity and clean power. Even though the Technics is rated higher power output (120w vs. 90w in the Sansui) it doesnt sound any louder, just more distortion. The Sansui can still run at full power for hours without overheating, which is what some recievers have problems with today. If I could I would rate Sansui 10 stars. Only for their old stuff though!

My Sansui 7070 was high school graduation present in 1977.The receiver
served me very well throughout college and many since. I purchased an
updated Sansui reciever, but only because the newer models have video
jacks, etc.

I have been very pleased with the 7070, and plan to keep it for the rest of my life. However, I noted that a subcriber from Nashville is also having the exact same problem that I am experiencing with the right-channel no longer working in STEREO mode. Please forward any suggestions regarding repairs int the State of Luisiana /or/ in the USA for that matter...I do have a schematic.

Thank You....

Mel Melvin

Strength:

Clean sounding and still working! For 20+ year old receiver, it sure beats some of the newer digital units I've had. The VU Meters are typical of higher end units of the vintage, and the added microphone in on the front panel allows a little karaoke.

Weakness:

One light burned out, but I'll steal another from a Pioneer of the same vintage to replace it with.

I'd recommend this unit to anyone cruising around the junk shops and looking for a unit with power to spare.

Similar Products Used:

Sony STR-6045, H/K 430, a Kenwood of the same era, and the Pioneer (which never did work!)
