Strength:

This thing has extreme power....... blows away my dads $1100 Sony system

Weakness:

Flaky output.....left or right channels seem to drop out on occasion, and it doesnt seem to like to tune certain FM stations.....just passes over them completely

I have an 8080, not the 7070, but cant seem to find reviews for it. =/ I'm not sure how old this thing is, but its way older then '95, and im guessing its older then me(I'm 18).

Anyway, this thing has brutal power, if my speakers werent already blown out, this reciever would do the job.
I've cranked the volume to somewhere over 85%, and there was no distortion. Unbelieveable, considering my dads Sony system has some nasty distortion at over 70% volume. It has outputs for 3 speaker sets, an several inputs. It puts out extremely high-qual sound, at high volumes, better then some newer recievers, and I highly reccomend that if you can find one of these, in good condition, latch onto it, and don't let it go.

Some newer Sony, cant member the model

Strength:

Sansui 8080DB - Extreme power (100W/ch), Class B Dolby processor (great for it's time), 25 years trouble-free

Weakness:

None that I know of

I have never seen a review for this model (8080DB) or even the 8080. I bought it in the Air Force in England and was instantly the envy of all. I even helped a friend put on a concert with the receiver and speakers used as the amp. The sound in the theatre (seated 100 - 150) using the system at 2/3 volume filled the place. I bought a new home theatre receiver (RCA RC3540L) a few years back and let my sister have the receiver and turntable. She called recently to tell me the right channel was out, but it turned out to be the balance control was misadjusted, so I have the unit back. I'll never let it go now -

Similar Products Used:

Pioneer HPM-100 speakers (only thing that will cleanly handle this much power), Soundcraftsman RP2215B Equalizer (who wants to rely on bass/treble controls), Dual CS704 Direct Drive turntable, RCA Home Theater system RC3540L
