Very good dynamics, but not quite the speed and focus of the better XLO's and Nordost's. Excellent tonally and spatially. Great buy for the $. Rating 4.75, because there is always room for improvement.

Strength:

Absolute clarity, balance, imaging, tight and controlled bass, clear smooth highs

Weakness:

none

After just two days of break in the these the difference the Anacondas have made in my system is incredible. Each time I put on a CD, I my shake my head in disbelief. The music sounds incredible.... balance, air, detail. But most importantly I hear the music, not the former short comings of my audio system. I knew from my previous auditions of audio cables that they made a difference in the sound of my system but the incredible amount of improvement by spending $350 on a pair of interconnects amazed me. I have been searching for a certain sound while putting this system together over the last five years and have finally found it! If you have decent electonics these cables allow them to do their job. I use the Anacondas from my CD player to my preamp. I still have AudioTruth Opals from the preamp to the amps that drive my speakers. I would consider upgrading those interconnects but I can hardly imagine having better sound! Maybe some day..... Strength:

In my system: a very detailled, spooky holographic mid and upper range sound Punchier midbass More air around instruments. Better depth.

Weakness:

None that I heard.

Being somehow sceptical on expensive cables and ic´s, I "only" wanted to spend USD.200 for ic´s, so in came the AQ Vipers. Sounded superior than Coral and definately better than the older Topaz, but then again nothing really spectacular. When I borrowed a pair of balanced Anacondas....I couldn´t believe it. Stunning! I bought it and am using it for the upper range drivers of NHT 2.9s. How this cable improved clarity, airy detail, dynamics and body to the speaker´s midrange and treble is really something. I ordered a pair more for between the cd player and preamp. Highly recommended!

Strength:

Neutral with big dynamics

Weakness:

None (in my system)

These cables are incredible. They bettered my long time reference XLO Reference Type 1 without question and seem to work very well with the XLO Reference Type 5 Speaker Wire. These cables are very neutral yet offer the best dynamics I have witness from many of the newer cable designs. I also owned Diamond and Lapis before in previous systems and the Anaconda has them both beat with ease. This review is based on a .6 meter XLR pair used between a Sony XA7ES and an Electrocompaniet ECI-3.

Strength:

Very neutral with a vast an open spaciousness which is hard to explain.

Weakness:

None in my system.

Being one of those crazy addicts who changes Interconnects and speaker wires every 4-6 Months, I finally auditoned the AQ Anaconda in my 2 channel system. Having owned AQ Diamond and Lapis, WOW. This cable is superior in every aspect. It made me not want to listen to my XLO Reference Type 1 anymore. This cable is well balanced and neutral. Almost has no signature of it's own. The bass is tremendous and defined with this cable in my system. Seems to work well with Solid State and Tube amplification. Imagaging is defined and the soundstage is vast. No brainer on this one. The Anaconda is definately worth the price of admission. Strength:

Very well tonally balanced, transparant.

Weakness:

No really.

It took me one month to break in the cable. The cable sounds very different from all previous AudioQuest models. On neutrality and transparency scale it comes closer to Diamond, but it much smoother and much more tonally balanced. The tonal characteristics sounded to me similar to Cardass Golden Cross. The cable is absolutely free of metalic hsss and very much contributes to analogue like musicality of the system.

Great cable! If you are looking for interconnect under US$1000, I would strongly recommend it.

outstnading characteristic, balance, smoothness

Weakness:

price

As soon as I start using this cable, the word "balance" comes to mind. And as other review said, this is a very well made and sounds incredible, it really is.
$1000/M is very way too high price to think of interconnect cable(for mid-level audiophile) however with the deal of $350/0.5 M , this is certainly the best deal I can find.
Siltech is a good detail cable, but sound so bright with solid state gear. HT soften the system, however its balance between high and mid is doubtful. Cardas 5L sounds like cutting of some of the extra high details. KCAG enhance the high. Customhouse Barracuda is a very linear cable.. and it is lacked of excitement.
Anaconda has everything I mentioned, it delivers all the emotional from the song without enhancing the bad recording.
I don't know how AQ can do this, but this is a great result of their research.
I used to hate AQ products as their aggressively forward in the sound(for high level products), eventhough it comes with the extra detials. This Anaconda is exceptinal product from their product line indeed.

Give it a try, and you will like it.
