Strength:

Price, picture quality, build

Weakness:

shipment costs, not available in the Netherlands, only via the Net.

Well, this is an easy review.
This cable is really, really good for the price.
I paid a total of 35$ for this cable, included shipping,
and it does a great job.
I have used a Monstercable Toslink from a friend, which had cost him over 100$, and I cannot hear the difference.
I'm using a DENON DVD2500 on a DENON AVR1800 receiver, and have put them in Bitstream mode.
This is a good choice if you do not want to be without cash.

Regards

Strength:

Cost and construction

Weakness:

None that I know of.

I can't compare this against any other, but it's about 1/2 the cost of Monster Cable. It works just fine! No problems connecting and picture has no interference.

Strength:

solid construction, firm connection, fantastic sound improvement over my old cables

Weakness:

I agree with the others...the packaging is the pits

I am one who doesn't subscribe to the idea that interconnects make such a difference that $400 is worth that difference. So, when I bought a new AV Receiver and DVD player, I decided to replace all of my cables at the same time. I found Acoustic Research at a local dealer, and I am very happy with them. They did improve the picture and sound. At $17, I am so pleased I am almost giddy.

Strength:

Price, performance

Weakness:

Terrible packaging, the worst ever.

I have no complaints with the cable itself, it's the packaging that I hate! It's the kind of hard plastic sealed-pak packaging that requires a knife to open and then it's still very difficult to get the product out. Belkin is another company that packages their cables in this way and I try to avoid buying products with this type of packaging at all costs! Totally unnecessary and unfriendly packaging!

Strength:

A Damn-Good Product!!

Weakness:

Yes, The package sux! (almost cut myself with my utility knife!....Ouch!)

Look, AR is a great product...Why would anyone buy MonsterCable products when they are easily twice the cost!!
.....There is no difference between the two toslink cables.
Don't get ripped off!, Get the AR cable. You will be pleased.

Strength:

Firm connection. Not succeptable to interference. Rubber grip.

Weakness:

None found.

I bought a 3 foot AR toslink to toslink last week and the sound is tremendously better over the garbage RCA cable I was using originially.

I'm sure that there are uses for the highly priced AR Master Series or even Monsters for that matter, but a nominal difference that my ears probably won't notice is not worth triple the price to me. I recommend this cable based on it's value: clear digital optical audio for under $30 US.

Strength:

AR Quality built, perfectly clean transmitted sound, excellent value

Weakness:

None

Bought this for my DVD setup. Usually one would think they need an expensive optical cable to get quality sound but that is not so if you can find the AR Toslink HT180 cable for a mere $17 or less. Typical AR quality and very impressive performance. Signal loss is nill and produces perfect harmonics. Highest recommendation for any home theatre setup.

Strength:

Acoustic Research Pro Series: great value for the $

Weakness:

none for intermediate audio

Installed a brand new home theatre system, and could not believe Monster cable prices! So I bought all Acoustic Research Pro series: component, RCA, & S Video, toslink, coax, RCA audio, 12 GA wires, and banana connectors - online at www.Consumer-Direct.com Instead of spending approximately $1,500 on Monster, I spent $400 on comparable AR connections. I have $1,100 in my pocket and a smile on my face.

These cables are a great value!
