Strength:
nice looking.
Weakness:
well it did look nice, ....and thats about it. cold soldering by the way means they mechanicly crimped them, definitly not the best way to teriminate cables. I bought thinking that the monster name was a good name, and well it does seem to be a well known name. Monster is kinda like bose...i.e. a lot ot of talk with no action. They know how to sell products. I compared The Monster bass wire with a cheapo from Radio shack...there was no difference. By by comparing I dont just mean plugging them into a sub and listining (which is valuable no doubt) but I also tested them on an electronic level not many poeople do, and again there was no diff. I say dont waste your money. Similar Products Used: kimber cable, silver serpent, and a few DIY cables, (the DIY cables prove to be the best bet if you have the time and patients) |

Strength:
notable improvement with poor quality equipment
Weakness:
unable to determine due to quality of subwoofer used This is for a THX Ultra 2m subwoofer cable. It replaced a cheap 5m cable from AR on a Philips subwoofer left over from a theater in a box system (boomy, inarticulate bass). All I have to say is that even with this bottom of the pile subwoofer, I noticed a difference in response. How good? I won't know because the sub had its numerous limitations. So I took the cable back because it was worth $90 CAD, more than the sub itself. I now have a much better subwoofer and I will try the Monster Bass 1000 sub cable soon, I'm sure it will not disapoint me ... The Monster Sigma Retro Gold cables left me speechless, see my review for them. Note, my value rating is low only because the cable cost $100 CAD after taxes and I could not readily asses its potential due to my subwoofer. Also, I could not effectively assess this cable's sonic qualitiy for the same reason. But if anybody wants to buy Monster's products, buy their higher end stuff, their regular line is very overpriced. Similar Products Used: Acoustic Research cheapo cable (poopoo cable) |

Strength:
power punch and clarity
Weakness:
none i cant possibly understand who these people are saying this cable doesnt make a difference.because it made a big difference on my SW.i think alot of it has to do with people owning a 149.99 pioneer reciever or something.cuz i am running a yamaha receiver that cost 1500.00.before i was using acoustic research cables and my sub sounded sloppy and muddy on some movies and the LFE effects didnt come through too good.so i bought the monster cable thx subwoofer cable and now i have clean punchy powerful bass.and it is not real boomy anymore.so needless to say this cable makes a difference. Strength:
Good quality
Weakness:
expensive and doesn't sound any better than cheaper cables I've read so many good things about this cable and how it actually works and makes your sub sound better. I wanted to see if everything i read was true so i bought one and hooked it up as soon as i got home. I tested it with movies and music and i was a bit dissapointed as i was expecting more from such an expensive cable. It didn't make my sub sound any better with cheap cables or the Acoustic Research sub cable i was using before. The only good thing about it is the construction of the cable is good but other than that it don't sound any better than the cheaper stuff. Similar Products Used: Acoustic Research subwoofer cable |

Strength:
Price vs performance. THX. Includes Y adapter. (necessary for HGS-15)
Weakness:
You tell me? I have two subs in my system, M&K MX90 and a Velodyne HGS-15. Both are on 4 meter cables right in the middle of walls on either side of sofa. Velodyne never sounded all that accurate or tight despite it's servo feedback. Came here and read the reviews. Purchased cables in spite of being skeptical. Result? WOW!!!Bass is tight with superb delineation. I'm a believer now. Similar Products Used: Middle-grade connects with gold plated connectors. |

none really was using the monster m1000mk11 cable-an expensive cable=175.00 a pair--just for fun i got the 201 sub cable off ebay for 25.00 with the kit--i was truly amazed at the difference--really--a sub cable is a sub cable-i didnt like the long y adapter so i got the flexible y adaptor model for 15 bucks--im in a cabinet- i needed the 2 inches from the back wall--all other cables are for other connections--NOT meant for a sub--the 201 or for that matter-ANY sub cable-you really need a sub only cable--and i have monster cable thruout my infinity-onkyo system--monster cable is not meant for all systems--but it has done my infinity speakers justice over the yrs Similar Products Used: cheapies |

Strength:
Y interconnect, THX certified
Weakness:
Price It''s fine. The shielding is adequate and the y adapter adds flexibility in set up options. I don''t think it''s worth the $25 that I paid for it (1 meter), and I really don''t think it''s worth the $40 price at retail. I recommend comparing the same price point with Audioquest, Kimber Kable, XLO, and IXOS cables. |

Strong cable
Weakness:
Loud white color does not blend well in home decor. Should have been an earthtone or neutral in color. I purchased this cable at the persuasion of two friends; Robert Raynor an audiophile, and Floyd Hill, an enthusiast like myself. |

This product is amazing...I was until recently one of those audio types who believed that good 'ol 12 guage will do great for all speakers in a low EMI/RFI environment. I was kind of disapointed with my low end JBL DPS-10 Subwoofer and was using a standard RCA interconnect with a adapter to split it. The sound was boomy, annoying, and caused me to think about chucking this garbage for a nice Velodyne in order to blend in with my Wharfedale Opal 100's. Today I went to a big electronics market here in Moscow (thats right folks...an American...living in Russia even, and no they don't bite!) and saw this cable in a little audio stand and decided to check it out and maybe that would help a bit and hold me over until I get a new sub and for 25 bucks for 2.5 meters; why not? Well, took it home, hooked it up and fired up a nice bassy CD, DMX's new "And then there was X...." CD (Rap) which requires heavy bass for full effect and always got me angry cause it was either loud and boomy or soft and unhearable. Now it's perfect, it's really, not kidding, about 2 times tighter, wider, and clearer. I can't believe that this little jacketed cable just saved me about 400 bucks on a Velodyne sub.....if you are disapointed with the sound of your sub, get this cable and find out how much of a difference it makes....now all I have to find is speaker wire that does the same kind of radical difference for this cheap! |
