Strength:

Quality, THX certified

Weakness:

The cable is to thick to stuff under my baseboard (this is what happens if you want quality)

This cable is a major improvement from the cheap cable. I can now say that I am getting the sound that my subwoofer was meant to produce. Monster makes many different types of audio/video cables. As far as I know, this is the only sub cable Monster makes. Therefore, the public plus Monster must be happy with this product.

Strength:

Clean sound, very flexible

Weakness:

build quality, durability

I know some posters on this board feel that the failure of a product should not be included in a review. However, I feel that build quality and durability issues are a major reason people read these reviews (I know that's why I do). That being said, here's my review of the Monster Subwoofer cable:

Although I had been pleased with the sound of this cable, I can't say I've heard a dramatic improvement over generic cable. I was glad to have premium cable until last night, when after rearranging my sub and receiver the cable apparently fell apart internally, causing my sub to hum loudly (with feedback?). Of course I powered the sub down while I tried to isolate the cause. Replacing the Monster Cable with generic cable fixed the problem. This cable is only 3 months old (purchased new). One reason I pay for premium cable besides (subjectively) better sound is durability. Nobody wants to get into that tangled nest of cables behind their gear to replace faulty cables all the time. So I have to say I am completely dissappointed with Monster Cable because of this product's failure. Sure, it got tugged a bit as I moved my gear around, but so did all my other (older & cheaper) cables, and they're fine. I can't afford the really high-end stuff, so, for the time being I'll stick with AR cables.

Strength:

Very little distortion, no noise. Stronger, tighter, and more controlled bass.

Weakness:

None

I purchased the Monster Cable THX certified subwoofer cable to enhance the sound of my subwoofer and control the amount of bass that was used. It did just that. Before I bought a more powerful subwoofer to go with my system, I had a cheap Aiwa 50 watt subwoofer that was connected with a cheap generic subwoofer cable that came with it. The bass was sloppy, boomy and overpowering in many instances. I thought I needed a new subwoofer to correct the problem. Low and behold I bought the Monster Subwoofer cable to replace the generic kind, and the problem was solved, although I ended up buying a new subwoofer anyway just to get more of a kick out of my system. I got the Infinity BU-120 subwoofer. The subwoofer cable along with the new receiver I purchased, produced higher quality, more tight, and stronger bass. The Monster Cable Subwoofer Cable is a must have for those with a 5.1 system and for people who mostly watch movies in DD and DTS. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Great noiseless sound

I have a Yamaha YSTSW160 subwoofer, it has the automatic signal detect circuitry which turns itself on upon detection. When I used the ultra crappy GQ cable, it would always be on. I thought it was the subwoofer had gone bad, I tried connecting to both stereo inputs, changing the standby level turn on but no luck, so instead of returning it I tried a slightly more expensive Radioshack cable. Still the same scenario, finally I tried the Monster cable THX certified cable and voila, it works. I tested a couple of CDs and immediately noticed the sound difference. It's tighter and focussed, as good bass should be. Not muddled and dirty. I used to think that Monster was another marketting gimick but this product certainly disspelled that theory for this product. So I think that this indeed was a good $35 bucks spent.

Strength:

Great Bass, overall home theater sound improvement.

Weakness:

Before purchase, thought it was a little pricey.

First let me just say I am not an audio expert. My philosophy is, if it sounds good, it is good. I recently purchased the Kenwood HTB-503 home theater setup. Out of box I was fairly satisfied. However, I still felt I could get a little more with better cables. While browsing Best Buy's cables I noticed the Monster subwoofer cable. I thought to myself, "$40 for a subwoofer cable!" "How much better can the bass get?" So I check the package to see where they fit the free six pack of beer. To my surprise, the $40 only included the cable. Needless to say I didn't buy it that day. When I got home, I researched what this cable was all about. Based on the reviews here, I broke down and bought one. Most satisfying money I've spent since I bought the HT setup. Sure the bass is tighter and deeper.(There's a Beavis and Butthead joke in there somewhere.) But the really noticeable improvement was in the overall sound. The bass used to drown out other sounds, especially in movies. No more. The highs seem higher and clearer, even while the bass is pumping. Eg. Opening seen of Private Ryan DTS. I heard sounds I never heard before, all crystal clear. I could go on and on about how happy I am with this product, but I'm sure you all have better things to do. Advice: If your looking for better sound without spending as much as you did on your setup, this cable is an awesome first step.

Strength:

Improved subwoofer response, tighter bass.

Weakness:

As always, cost.

I know this is just another of many reviews, but I at least I wanted post a true skeptics view. I waivered many times spending $30 for 8 ft. of cable, until I bought my new CD player and saw the improvement quality cable made to it. The results were a definite improvement of bass notes (something few seem to talk about), as they are tight and well defined. There was an improvement in quantity, as I had to turn the volume down one click.

I will make a critical statement to the folks owning those low cost subwoofers, and that's don't waste your money. These cables were made to improve the transfer of the signal, not improve the ability of your subwoofer. There are so many subs out there that advertise big size, big amplifier for only $100-200. Those are good for what they were intended, but these cables won't help those subs do what the designers did not intend them for, and that's critcal music listening.

Strength:

Excellent Construction,Sound Quality!

Weakness:

None so far.

This is one of those things you have to hear to believe. Years of upgrading equipment, and I always overlooked cables due to their seemingly high price. After reading these reviews I bought a set of cables(both monster) for my cd player and sub. They make such an audible difference I can't believe I waited so long. If you only buy one cable buy the sub cable its an incredible difference you will notice immediately!!!

Sound quality and construction of cables.

I found an open box of the 300 series cable and bought it to hook up another subwoofer in my home theater. I already use a Tributaries subwoofer cable on my Velodyne CT 100 and believe it is an excellent cable. The monster also sounds good but the construction on the Tributaries is better.

It works. This is definitely a good investment if you want to improve the performance of your sub. This cable made my sub play richer and deeper bass. I was cynical at first, but again, it works.
