Strength:

Not bad

Weakness:

Not great

I purchased this cable for two reasons: glowing reviews from audioreview.com, and 30 days return policy.

It's almost been a month since I purchased this cable, and I haven't returned it yet. But this doesn't mean I am doing back flips for joy over these cables.

When I first received this cable, I hooked it up to my California Audio Labs' Delta transport to Sigma tube D/A converter.

The results were fair. They harvested much more detail than the monster interlink 100, they were also more detailed than the reference 2 but had a sharp/white presence that was a little irritating, in comparison. When compared to Emeralds and Doublehelix cables, the silverserpents were outclassed in every audible category.

Currently, I haven't returned the Silverserpents because I am too lazy to call them to get a return shipping #. But, what led me to leave a review of a product that I am not excited about is when they emailed me an offer stating that they will send me a mouse pad if I submitted a positive review on audioreview.com.

I thought consumers should know mousepads are being offered to bettercable users. I am not saying this is the reason bettercables are raved in audioreview.com, but, personally, I feel there is not much to rave about.

Strength:

Definite improvement in Sound Quality, in many different ways! Very good for the price compared to others.

Weakness:

None Apparent!

Definite improvement over the Monster. Also recommend
other improvements, like power cords, wall outlets and dedicated line to it; Tice Audio, Blue Circle, products,
etc.

Also recommend improving dirty power and stray voltage
situation in your home, both for sound and health reasons!
For information on this, look up the topics "dirty power",
EMF polluition, etc. on the web.

I am looking into using line filters (capacitors)on my home
s circuit box, isolating the water supply "in" to the house
so it can't bring in diry power, and grounding to the GROUND outside to reduce looping and stray voltage.

For personal protection against all of this, I encourge readers to look into devices like those sold by Electroshield of North America (which I use, but do not sell).

I also got RCA connectors to run from (either0 my Sony DVP 7700, or from my HArmon Kardon 510 receiver (great sound!),
to remote speakers driven by aaaaaan old SAE A14 intgrated amp (which is very good analog amplification).

The cables really helped tocleared up some sound probs. with my Mission 702e speakers that other cables didn't
(esp. clarity, muffling probs with highsm, and more overall clarity and "singing"). Ordered a pair of new speakers off of EBAY thinking that the UBID purchased Missions had something wrong wit them. The speakers I ordered off EBAY are by Fluance (wood cabinet towers), which I hear are great for the money, but no one has reviewed here yet (no place for it?). The Fluances should have much better bass response, and fit the power rating of the SAE amp. better/more fully.

Feel free to contact me about making improvements to home power for health and "entertainment" enhancement. The farmers in western Wisconsin are really getting results
with these changes in wiring, etc.

Strength:

Quality, craftsmanship

Absolutely the best upgrade you can make to your system in terms of cables. The quality of the cable not only shows, but the difference in sound will amaze. Highs are accurate but not too bright. Lows are strong and tight. An excellent cable.

Strength:

Musicality, breadth of soundstage, lack of harshness

Weakness:

None, so far

Well, it has take a few weeks to convince myself, but I have finally decided that I can hear a difference in digital cables.

I have read many review on this site, which seem to poo-poo the idea that a digital cable would have a "sound." Intuitively, I had to agree. I mean it seems as if the 1's and 0's are getting through or not.

And, I suppose that what I hear might just be the receiver's internal wiring differnce between the optical and coax inputs.

Whatever the case, I can now state that there is a distinct and preferable difference in sound delivered by these Better Cables products. The just sound sweeter, and the soundstage is wider than I experienced with either the RCA optical cables or the Monster product.

One of the places it became easier to hear the difference was in music. The strings were mellower and spread wider across my soundstage. And sharp, percussive instruments (like triangle) were more muscial and less fatiguing.

These aren't cheap, but no good cables are. Listen carefully on a wide variety of sound (sound effects, dialogue, and music) and you may well hear a better dvd sound than you have yet experienced.

Strength:

Materials used, craftmanship, true to life sound quality
sounds good right out of the box, but gets better after burn
in period. Reasonably priced.

Weakness:

none at all.

I was amazed that this little cable could produce such
musical quality, you don't just hear it, you experience
the music. Before my CDs sounded analytical, but with this
cable the soundstage is enlarged and musical instruments
are so distinct, the bass is tight and not boomy. You get
more than what you pay for this cable. I ordered two digital
coaxal and I'm waiting for my new silver serpent audio/v
cables. The customer service is great! You have 30 days to
try out the better cable and return it if you don't like it.

Strength:

Very good construction and great detailed sound

Weakness:

Cables stiffer than most, although this is not a real
weakness unless trying to cram into small area

I decided to try this to beef up my bedroom system. I am
using NHT Superzeros and had just bought a Denon 1800 receiver to replace my 20 year old Yamaha integrated amp.
The Denon made such a remarkable improvement that I decided
to upgrade the cables a few weeks later. After installing
the Better Cables SDIF, I noticed a much more detailed, more
realistic sound. For example, in many of Mariah Carey songs
with a background chorus, before the massed voices were
basically lumped together. With my new cables you can hear
the individual chorus voices. The new cables have a way of
separating out the sounds and putting more air around each.
Overall, it is a very pleasing effect that makes the music
sound more real.

I am very happy with the purchase and love their heavy duty,
commercial quailty look.

I also use this system to watch DVD's using a first generation Toshiba player. The improvement here has also
been dramatic. Watching the Last of the Mohicans through
this setup reveals a large amount of additional sound details. Hearing the bugs buzzing in the fields and the
metallic clink of the swords against other metal make
for a much improved viewing experience.

Strength:

solid, quality build, stylish looks, unprecedented quality

Weakness:

expensive, too many upgrades, only available online... shipping costs and waiting is a pain

For all the hype and rave reviews and comments, i was expecting a lot from this cable. Initially, I felt the upgrade was only marginal, but noticeable. There's really not too much of an improvement. It is a great quality cable, but just falls short of all the expectations. Service was decent, and shipping was intolerable.

Strength:

Industrial styling
Hight Quality
Great Customer Service
Excellent and Heavy Insullation

OK--I did not think anything of the TOSLINK vs COAX debate. Just a bunch of blarney, right...?

Then I tried this cable in place of my Toslink cable. On movies: no difference.

On music: wow (lower case). For some reason, there was a more realistic soundstage that did, in fact, feel more live. There was a crisp, but not mechnanical feel, to all jazz and orchestral music. I did not hear it as much with rock, but the difference on Simon & Garfunkel's "Old Friends" and Miles Davis "Sketeches of Spain" was impressive.

I am going to try some A/B comparisons, but for now, wow.

Great customer service, speed, and construction, BTW. Great product.
