The GCD700 is a good-sounding cd player. I will agree that the unit's remote is not much of a remote, in fact, it's fu**in'WEAK!! The build quality is sort of weak, too. I accidentially opened the drawer on the player when the door on my rack was closed. The drawer froze up and the player would not play nor would the drawer close.I got the player fixed, and the repair guy told me that the player will burn out an internal fuse if anything obstructs the drawer. I thought that the feature was kind of cheesy. A Pioneer cd player costing one-third the price of the Adcom has a feature that enables the drawer to close automatically if it meets any resistance! Overall, I would recommend this player with caution, buy it new so you've got the warranty because you may need it. |

I have had the 700 for six months now. The first one I got the drawer was stuck shut but the dealer gave me a new one. Not one problem with my current unit. As far as sound quality goes you will have to spend a lot more money ( $1,500+) to get any noticable improvement. I compared the 700 to a $2,500 Krell CD player and the Adcom was pretty close. The Krell sounded more open and real but not enough to make me buy it, I will wait until all the new CD technology levels out as the Adcom will surely keep my ears happy for another year or two. |

I HAVE OWNED MY 700 FOR 4 MONTHS. I'VE HAD SONY AND CARVER VACUUM TUBE 5-DISC PLAYERS IN THE PAST. NONE SOUNDED AS GOOD AS THIS ADCOM. PLENTY OF FEATURES AND NO MORE LESS RELIABLE THEN THE REST. AS FOR BUILD QUALITY ALL 5-DISC CAROUSELS SEEM PRETTY FLIMSEY. THIS IS THE MOST QUITE CHANGER I'VE EVER HEARD. LET'S BE REASONABLE FOLK'S WERE TALKING CD PLAYER NOT TANK! IF YOU TREAT YOUR EQUIPMENT LIKE I DO YOU'LL HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS UNIT. ENJOY! |

It's really affordable hi-end. If you never have listen this cd-player before, go to your local dealer and try it. And don't forget to compare with state of the art cd-players. ADCOM itself is state of the art 'cause nobody else can gives you even close sound in this price range. And for those how gave gdc 700 less then 3 starts I have to say that you guys have problems with hearing(I agree that the remote isn't perfect, but the sound quality is first of all. The problem with remote can be easily solved if you buy a different remote(extra $30) not like with other models( separate DAC), just a remote). |

My first venture into hifi was around 4 years ago. I got together $2000 and auditioned a million things and ended up with a Rotel RB980BX, Rotel RC970, and Klipsch Epic CF-1's. Unfortunately, my hifi money was gone, and I was stuck with my old Denon DCD-360 CD player. |

Scrolling through these reviews, I can only conclude Adcom has addressed any quality control problems. I have had no problems and the unit just plain sounds great. You will hear things you never heard before. Try it with your best sounding CD. I do not hesitate to recommend it. I think any buyer will be pleasantly surprised. Plus you get the convenience and FUN of 5 CD's online simultaneously. |

I recently bought an Adcom GCD-700 used from a seller who advertised on this board. I'm very happy with it. The transport changes disks faster than I expected, and I've had no problems with either operation or the remote. I'm happiest with the sound. It's smooth and well balanced, with air around performers and depth to the soundstage. Excellent bass, and the highs are present without being strident. The rest of my system is Adcom (GFA 5300 amp, GFP 555 II preamp), a Denon DP1250 turntable with a Grace tonearm and Ortofon cartridge, and Magneplaner MG12s. I imagine there are better CD changers out there, but for its list price, I'd say it's a very good value. Used, in excellent condition, it's an outstanding bargain at anything under $400. Four stars on an absolute scale, five stars on value for money. Since it's the latter that counts in real life, that's the rating I'll give. |

Without hesitate, its the best cd changer out there for the money. i hear details that i've never heard before while i was using my dvd player or my discman as my cd player. make sure you let the burr browns do all the dac conversion though, because this is where the superiority comes in. i listen to my cds more than i've ever did now since i love the new sound i'm hearing. absolutely awesome!! |

WOW! I hooked up my Adcom GCD-700 today, put in a Santana CD that I must have listened to 100 times (at least) on my old CD-player, and it was like listening to something completely new. The richness of the sound was, well, amazing. I checked to make sure that I hadn't hit something on my amp or preamp when installing the CD player, but no, my ears weren't lying. I am impressed...to me, this unit sounds better than one costing 2.5 times as much that I demoed. Way to go, Adcom. |

While I can appreciate several reviewers' concerns about the mechanical integrity of the tray/mechanism, the overall sound quality given the low cost of this unit should obviate those concerns. I find the Adcom's DACs excel at reproducing transients that I've found "smeared" in other units. |
