I had a chance to listen to this CD Player for about 45 minutes with my favorite recordings (Jose Carreras, Cassandra Wilson, Chesky Sampler, etc). And I am telling you, it is THE best value for the money. Detailed would not be the right word to describe its sound because it could be associated with annoyingly detailed or analytical sound. If you are after that beaitiful resonant violin sound that is very hard to get from any CD Player is honestly produced by this player. It is one of those products ( such as C-J MV-55, Spica TC-50, etc.) that can transmit the soul of the music rather than the data recorded. The sound is not exactly full-bodied though. The harmonic balance is on the thin side a little bit. But, hey, it is a very small price to pay for what you otherwise get from this CD Player. It would be a big mistake to purcase anything under $1500 before you give this one a shot. |

I bought this wonderful player six months ago. My first source of information was this database. Many thanks to every one who put his comments. I totally agree with the highest ratings. I had a Denon 535, and there is a significant difference between them. I like country and folk music, and you find new sounds in your old cds. I recommend CD6 player since the cost is really a bargain (US$ 500 in Madrid - Spain). |

For $500 new ... it can't be beat by any cd player. I tried Marantz67se, toshiba sd2006, and yamaha cdc502. Marantz is pretty good but it high freq harshness fatique my ear after 15 minutes listening to it. Toshiba sd-2006 a little bit better than marantz and yamaha. Yamaha is the worst performer ... very harsh and not as accurate. Nothing come close to cambridge. |

Shopping for a new CD player to replace my aging Technics unit, I auditioned Sony XA20ES, 2 of the ES carousels, Rega Planet & a Carver MV5. I had decided on the XA20ES until I was notified that I had won a Cambridge Audio CD6 on the AudiogoN website. I've had this player in my system (Carver CT24 preamp, Aragon 8002 amp, Paradigm 5seMKIII speakers) for 2 weeks and am totally pleased with it's performance. Bass is strong & articulate, mids are somewhat forward & natural, highs are well defined but not harsh. Externally, the unit is uncluttered and rather "plain", internal layout is modular & appears well designed. Overall build quality appears very good, just wish the case was a bit stiffer. |

What else can be said that has not already been said. I tried one at home against my Rotel 950 which is also a fine player, and the Cambridge won with ease. I recommend buying some good cables to really take advantage of what this player can do. Nordost Blue Heaven or Red Dawn would due nicely. |
