I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this player. A marked improvement in soundstage and detail from my older Harman Kardan CD player. It does tend to be a little bright, but the burn-in and turning output volume down do work well. I am running through a system that tends to be "warm" though (NAD amp and Kimber PBJ-147 interconnects)so that may compensate. I have no complaints--my CD's have come alive in a way i didn't suspect possible for a modestly priced unit(I agree with the glowing comments from other reviewers). One note of warning: Though I bought mine from stereoabc.com at a great savings, the salesman lied to me when he told me it was covered through manufacturer's warranty. I called Marantz, and these shops are selling unauthorized units, therefore not covered. He did say that the name on the unit meant something, and that he would "take care of me" anyway! What value, and what a company...I'm sold for life! (just next time I'll pay full retail...) |

I am astonished at the immense improvement over my old Pioneer CD changer. This is a wonderful piece to add to any system. You're getting an audiophile grade component at an economic price. I'm using a Marantz PM-68 Integrated Amp along with Paradigm Monitor 3's. The interconnects are Tara Labs Prism 33's, and speaker wire is AudioQuest Type 4+. Overall I would say that this is one of the sweeter sound systems that I've heard. I love it! |

Well, let's be brief. For the money it is a more than Okay player. Build quality is pretty good. Sound (after an extended breakin period) is fairly reasonable too. I think this player muddles the Bass a bit as well boosting it. Detail and Soundstaging are okay again. |

I own the CD67se by Marantz. It did sound horrible out of the box, and I still think it is a bit harsh. The reviews praise it for its resoulution and smoothness. The resoulution is good, however I am dissappointed with the base and vocals. Even with upgraded interconnects and cables, the vocals seem overshadowed by the music. Also, the soundstage is not a large as I would prefer. I would say this CD player is not all that it is claimed to be. |

Had a 67se a little while back. for the money, its not bad. it does take a long time to break in. the bass is relatively tight, and somewhat deep, but lacking in mid and upper bass. There is a *slight* hardness tothe upper mid/lower trebles, but not bad. Sound stage isn't real deap, but instruments are well outlined. Overall, the sound is a bit cold, and lean-tho clean and rythmic. its sound is well above what the "masses" tend to listen to, but it left me unfullfilled after a couple of months. In fairness to the player, the sound is very good for the price. on an absolute scale, i'ld give it a 2 star rating, but for its price, I'll give it a 3 star rating. |

I bought my CD-67se last month as part of a general system upgrade (finally succumbed to the threat of AC-3) as a replacement for a 6-year-old Yamaha changer. Whoa, what took me so long? I can now hear the differences between good an bad recordings! The Marantz has a smooth midrange, detailed vocals, and some bass slam too. |

I bought the 67SE last month on the strength of the reviews it received in several notable European audio magazines. So far, it has failed to impress. |

I disagree with the opinions of bright sound when new. With good quality interconnect cable the Marantz CD67SE provides great musical enjoyment unsurpassed at or near the price.I use mine with an Arcam Alpha7 amp and KEF Q15 speakers.buy with confidence. |
