Strength:

This is one of the best CD mega changers ever, sound is great and convienence is even better. Very quiet for a changer.

Weakness:

Remote is kind of cheep compared to other Sony remotes, not being LCD, but if you have a half way decent reciever or pre-amp you would not use the remote anyway. Needs digital in for controlling other changers, not just RCA. These are minor things and do not really matter for most people.

I love this CD changer and have for about a year now, I bought like new. I have never had to take it for repair of mess with it, it always plays great. I wanted a CD changer because I wanted all the convinces of one, you all know what I mean, things like keyboard input, onscreen display, and disc and song titling. I have used all the newer Changers that Sony has tried to pass off as ES and have been disappointed, these changers do not have aluminum faces, plus they do not sound nearly as clean and overall good as this one. This one has been discontinued, but you can still find them around, eBay usually has them for about 500-600. I think I said all I wanted to about this unit. Now for the unsmart couple of people below me that use this post for either advertising or criticizing. You ignorant people mess up the ratings for good equipment and mess people up looking for something to buy.

Strength:

Sound quality. Very crisp & detailed high notes.

Weakness:

Sometimes you can hear a faint echo. May be caused by the forward feedback digital filter

Outstanding sound quality. I enjoy listening to old CDs and 'discovering' subbtle high frequencies that I never noticed before.

I purchased the floor model because the store says that it is being discontinued. I paid $635.

I have no complaints and highly recommend this unit.

Tested & returned due to lesser sound quality: Yamaha CDP900, Pioneer Elite 200 disk changer, Non-ES Series Sony changers. The only other changer that came close in sound quality, but not as crisp as the CDP90ES was the Yamaha CDM900.

I was fotunate enough to buy this jewel at a closeout price of $599.00. The sound of this unit excels a lot
of single play units out on the market. For the quality
and performance of this piece I rate it a five.

Strength:

With And I agree with other reviewers about this unit's high-quality sound reproduction. After over 1 year's operation, I have also found it to be mechanically reliable-apparently an issue with some CD changers. However, the feature that I want to draw your attention to is the ability to connect the unit to a TV monitor. The on-screen display is excellent, scrolling through with the remote is a breeze, and keyboard entry is much easier when you have a large screen instead of a tiny window on the unit or a remote. A 12 inch TV costs $150 or so, and the addition is well worth it. I haven't tried the new Sony units with on-screen displays on the remote, but I don't see how they can beat a TV monitor.

Weakness:

Owner's manual is a bit difficult to understand, has a few errors.

Highly recommended. Sony seems to have discontinued, possibly b/c it sees changers as an inexpensive, mass-market product. I hope they realize there is a market for well-built CD changers with near-audiophile quality sound.

Similar Products Used:

Various other changers manufactured by Sony and others, none of which lived up to the promise. The CX90ES is by far the best changer I've seen.

This is the Top of Line CD Jukebox from Sony - there ES Line. It holds 200 CDs, allows song/CD title input from a PC Keyboard and has an OSD of the CDs & Titles. It comes with binders to hold all your CD covers in two neat books for easy access. The specs for this unit are impressive: 20 bit D/A, 64x Oversampling, 116 db S/N. I was looking for a mid-fi CD player and reviewed and listened to changers from Adcom, Onkyo and Marantz. I found the sound from this unit to be clean with no obvious flaws that I could detect, at least for a system at my level (See Below)
Anyways, you cannot believe how convenient access to 200 CDs is. I found myself getting reaquantied with alot of my old music. And the clutter of all those jewel boxes is gone!!! If you are considering a High quality Jukebox, I highly recommend you give this one a listen.

I give this product 5, because for my system it performs to that level...

Strength:

200 CD's with full display of tracks and artist and cd

Weakness:

they have 400 disk units now

more quiet passages, more bass slam and tightness, much smoother high end, amazing. I only wish i could compare it to an accuphase but supposedly for the money they aren't all that better so the beauty of being able to hear one track on one cd and then another track on another cd without having to get up with the remote is worth it.
