Strength:

Long cable, good for DJs, durable

Weakness:

Construction does seem a bit flimsy, but they have survived lots of abuse from me. Bass and lows really stand out on these, so not the best for engineering or monitoring. Small cups can get a bit uncomfortable at times, and longer sessions will wear on your ears.

Decent, above-average headphones. Nothing too spectacular here, but if you want something with some good rythmic lows, this is your perfect casual listener.

Strength:

-Love the bass
-can hear sounds really clear
-hear sounds you didn't know were there
-long cord
-design (foldable, colour, size)
-can go pretty loud with no distortion
-nobody can hear too much on the outside
-like the screw on "big" jack for hi-fi

Weakness:

-comfort sometimes
-cord is too thick, could be thiner

Nothing else really.

These headphones are really good. I've tried a buch of others and these are probably one of the best considering price. They are very clear and precise. I mainly use these when I listen to music on my laptop and are very good (especially the fact that I have an equalizer to play with if I need to). They can be a little uncomfortable sometimes but I find that if you let them sit more back on your ear and kind to the top, they can be quiet comfortable. as well as giving you the extra bass for all you bass-heads (like me). Also try expanding the headband a bit, this works pretty good.

Anyone who loves a little added bass in there music will love these headphones. Anyone who doesn't, don't bother with them you'll be disappointed.

Strength:

When I purchased them they sounded slightly better than the equvalent model Sennheisers and Denon's at the time.

They do have a boosted bass response which would be overbearing for an audiophiles home stereo, but this extra bass is good for a portable set since they have to compete with outdoor noise.

They're *relatively* Durable. I've abused mine for 4 years. I've had them in sub-sub-zero Canadian temperatures using them as earmuffs, causing the cord to freeze. I've played them non-stop, dropped them, banged them around, have them scuffed and scratched. They look like hell now - but they've always sounded pretty good. But I did manage to break them. Twice.

Quality of the cord and gold-plated connector is nice for this price point.

Weakness:

Slightly uncomfortable for extended periods of time due to the hard plastic headband putting too much pressure on the top of your head. Causes your ears to sweat.

Overboosted bass (but no worse than most other players at this level, and not quite as pronounced as my new HD-457's).

Shrill, sibalant highs when compared with the smoother Senn 457's. It's not awful, but the Sennheisers are just a little better.

Cheapish construction. They look cheap and plasticy. The earcup brackets broke twice on mine rather easily. This is what caused their replacement.

Long cord. WHY is it so long? Why?!

I've just replaced my Sony MDR-V300's with the slightly better (to my ears) Sennheiser HD-457's, but thought I should give the Sony's a proper send-off with a good review.
I purchased the 300's four years ago just before Sennheiser came out with their current lineup. The Sony 300's sounded better than Everything I'd tested that was under $100 (Canadian), and a few that were well over $100 (including some Grado models!). In factI found the 300's to be the best sounding Sony headphones bar none. They sound more even and balanced than the vaunted 500DJ and 700DJ models. I didn't want to like the Sony's because every product of theirs I ever had let me down, and I vowed long ago "No Sony! Never Again". These headphones changed my perceptions a little.

I thouroughly enjoyed their performance as my second set, for portable use only (CD walkman and iPod), for 4 years until the second break of the right side earcup bracket (aye, the first break was repaired with glue and tape, I tried the second time but alas, it didn't hold...).

My new Sennheiser HD-457's are very slightly sonically superior from the midrange on up. The bass on the 457's is even more overboosted than the Sony's, but they're also an open design which has to compensate for more outside noise. Because of the "too-much-bass" I wouldn't choose the new 457's to be my home stereo headphones (I have another pair of old Sennheisers for that), but the MDR-V300's don't suffer from that quite so badly. If you wanted a nice pair of 'phones for under $75 for both home and portable usage it's tough to beat the 300's.

They're great for any portable use, and passable for most home stereo use if you're not too critical a listener.

Customer Service

If these had repaceable parts, like most Sennheiser's, I wouldn't have thought to replace them.

Strength:

Great Sound

Weakness:

What looks to be weak construction, and they're a little uncomfortable after extended use.

IMO these headphones sound really good for the type of music that I listen to (punk, alternative). The only qualm that I have with them is that the construction seems a little bit weak. The only worry that I have withe the headphones is that the little tab that stops the earpiece from swiveling completely around might snap off leaving you with a useless set of reasonably expensive headphones. So far they're holding up great though so all is well.

Strength:

good looks bass through the roof

Weakness:

long cord (pain sometimes) be carefu with the headphones..:) light duty construction have to be cliche and say that after a couple hrs...they become less than comfortable.

Overall, for the price, these are one kick a$$ set of headphones. After years of using cheap "stock" headphones... these are a very good upgrade. I agree with some of the other posts on here, that the ear cups are a little small, and the bass is very prevelant (which can be a good thing). For the enthusiast who is in it for casual listening and maybe some entry level DJ stuff, these are good phones. The highs i will agree are not really there some of the time in some recordings.. but overall review is favorable!

Strength:

Good Price (Especially on Ebay or Open Box) Great Sound, Good power

Weakness:

Long cord. May not be weakness if you want to listen to a home unit. Also, ear cups smaller than your ears. But you get used to it. Pretty comfortable otherwise.

First off, I am not a professional audiophile. That said, these are the best headphones I have or use right now. I do have Sennheiser PX100's, a pair of JVCs that are way too bright, Senn earbuds, Ipod earbuds, an old pair of Stantons, and some other junk including a lot of the headphones that come with hard drive based mp3 players. I sell a lot of mp3 players on Ebay & test a lot of them. Unless your source is really bassy, then these should & do sound the best. They are a little bassier than some other models, but to me, nothing can be more uncomfortablr than having too much treble. Don't get me wrong, I like what's supposed to be there, and I can't stand muffled or boomy music, but I find that I lose very little when listening with these headphones. Mostly pleasant sounding music without noise, and the highs still come through when needed. They have plenty of power with my Ipod or Nomad Jukebox, too. Good punch on the bass and definitely does not sound like cheap audio. I just sent for the 150's, 500DJs, & 600's from Sony and I plan to order a pair of Senn's (better than I have)and a Grado 80 or 125. That may make me not like these as much but we'll have to wait & see. I did have a pair of the Bose Quiet Comfort, but sold them because they were so much more expensive than these Sonys and not that much better. A little brighter. That would be the only change I would make if I had my way is to make them a little brighter but not at the risk of hearing some highs shreek through your body. I will give it 5 stars for it's price range. I'm sure the others are better, but a lot more money

Strength:

Great looking Great sound Relatively inexpensive Isolate sound well Seem to be durable

Weakness:

None that I noticed

These headphones are really great sounding units. I have had many headphones over the years (due to stepping on them or whatever) and these sound the best. Some people mention complaints on durability, but I haven't noticed that they are any weaker than any of the competition, and they look very nice. As far as sound is concerned, they seem to have a good deal of bass and clarity is excellent. The cord is a bit on the long side, but then again, these are studio headphones, and are not meant to be used as you jog down the street. Some also complained of them not being comfortable; this is personal preference and for the first week or so of wearing these they did hurt my ears - a lot, but I found out this was just because they were new, as they are very comfortable now that they aren't squeezing my ears to oblivion.

Strength:

Bass Minimal sound escape

Weakness:

Comfort

Ditto pretty much everything already posted. Good sound if you favor bass, but not comfortable in the least after about 30 minutes. I wear glasses and this makes it even worse. Returned them and picked up a pair of Senn 212 Pro at Audiotronic. These aren't as heavy on the bass, but are WAY better. Too bad they're not on this site so I can give 'em a 5!

This is an addition to my earlier review. I''ve had more time and more experience with these phones, so I can judge them much better now. Earlier, all of my experience was with a portable CD player. Now I''ve had time to test them out on a Denon receiver hooked up to a Denon CD deck. On a more powerful sound system is where the extra bass becomes annoying for music other than rap, techno, and maybe some punk rock. I tried listening to the Metallica S & M CDs, and found the drums and cellos to be truly overpowering. It doesn''t seem to be an issue on other CDs though. Rap sounds good, with big bass while still being able to hear the rapper. Techno''s pretty good, with emphasized beats but still audible highs. I find them bad for any kind of symphony/classical, unless they don''t have much drums or low cellos because then all the highs will be pretty even. So, if you use them on a low-powered CD player, they''ll be good for just about anything. If you use them on a real sound set up, don''t bother with classical music. Otherwise, my review remains the same as before.

Strength:

design, color, great sound

Weakness:

headband sux, double sided cord is long and gets in the way

these headphones are awesome for the money. they really fit my head. all the pricier sony models upwards of the 300's are too big and fall off my head (hmm... it might just be me) the cord is rather annoying too, but if your just chillin at home with these things on, they are freaking awesome!
