Strength:
Lifetime Warranty, great bass, very respectable sound, foldable (I love this feature - I can fit them in my jacket pocket), comfortable
Weakness:
They DO tend to break down, but no more than other headphones I've used, and with $7 CDN and you're back up & running (vs. $80 Sony headphones in the trashcan). I needed something to replace my expensive Sony Fontopia earbuds (which broke way too soon) for exercising. I've had Porta Pros for years now for listening to music on my computer, and I love them. Should have written a review ages ago. These have loads of bass (way more bass than my $200 Sennheiser cans - but not as good in 3D imaging/soundstage), very comfortable, excellent choice for every-day headphones. The company stands behind its products, which is a rarity these days and should be rewarded. Lifetime Warranty is second-to-none ($7 CDN & they're fixed/replaced). I will ALWAYS try to buy Koss. Similar Products Used: Lots of cans over the years. |

Strength:
Very comfortable - they even have a 'light' setting to relieve the already light pressure on your ears (i don't use this feature very often); Bass is well extended but a bit flabby (keep that bass boost off). It's their midrange and top end where they shine - on par and better than a lot of so-called audiophile headphones. These things lack that awful boxiness that plagues even expensive phones sometimes. Snare drums sound full and round and less 'blatty' than other models. Top end is extended, with little sizzle. They are pitched nicely between being overly forward or overly recessed, so sound great with ost any material. Quite efficient. Drive to high volumes with little distortion (lots of headroom).
Weakness:
Ear pads wear out quite quickly; On one pair, the wire to one side broke and required resoldering; Single cord feeding one side only would be better than the two cord design. My third pair, having lost two pairs over the years. Similar Products Used: Pro junior. |

Strength:
Life-time warranty. Prominent bass. Comfortable sound.
Weakness:
Prominent bass. Cheap construction (keeps breaking). When I bought these, I had some previous experience with Koss, and their products hadn't exactly impressed me. When the guy in the store fetced me these strange cheap-looking headphones, I wasn't expecting much of them. He claimed they were the best in the store, so I tried them. I noticed that they had extreme bass for their size. I had bought a Koss set earlier. They sounded awfully hollow. Koss Portapro seemed a bit muddy too, but it was the best they could offer at the moment, and it didn't have that hollow sound to it, so I ended up buying them. Again, I wasn't particularly impressed until I realized that in a strange way it sounds clearer than my speakers. It's treble and midtones are very modest, but in such a way that it's comfortably soft while still being highly defined. When I took the pads off these, they sounded more open, but the midtone and frequencies around 8kHz came more in the foreground, and the bass got weaker, making the sound very fatigueing to the ears. I think the pads are there for a reason. They have an awful lot of fidelity. They actually remind me of more expensive headphones I've heard. The sounds are crisper and almost carve a hole inside your head. Some stuff broke on it once. One speaker went bad and a plastic bit broke off the snare. The gurantee actually works! I'm using a "repaired" (replaced, I suspect) set right now. Didn't pay a dime to get it fixed. Similar Products Used: Lots of different pro and consumer headsets. |

Strength:
Optimal sound quality (dis, tre, bass). Light weight, comfortable, short cord (4ft), pretty original design.
Weakness:
Very easy to break. Som parts are loose (because of the folding capability). Just bought my second pair after getting mad on my first pair (really dumb, I know). The sound is extremely good to be a portable headphone. They are nearly equal with my semi-open AKG Acoustics K141 Studio phones. Buy a pair yourself! Amazing sound! Massive BASS! Almost cinema sound!
Weakness:
The look Wow, what a amazing pair of headphones!! Amazing sound, MASSIVE bass for a price that isn't so expensive. I listen very much to hip-hop, and the sound and bass these produce is almost similiar to the car stereo. Plus: You'll get something extra when you buy the Koss porta pro. Try them when you watch a movie. These almost have cinema sound. |

Strength:
Good all-round performer - holds its own against clanking trains, invasive traffic noise etc., although it's an open design so you won't get squidged by the mad biker Lightweight and comfortable - no listening fatigue Very very good value for the price Excellent after-sales service - a lifetime warranty with teeth
Weakness:
Slightly silly looks, but the form has a function I had reservations when I saw these phones. Um, 70s timewarp design statement anyone? I have since come to love them as much as I love the audio quality. Clear highs and balanced mids. And very important this: punchy but not silly bass - you can do jazz and classicals with these babies as well as clubland stuff where your shirt jumps to the bass. I couldn't use anything else - I did a comparison with the boyfriend's show-offy "wait-list" (for god's sake!) Bang & Olufsen A8 earphones and my cans slapped the Danish pastry silly. Okay so they were only buds, but there is no better choice for lightweight portability. You can have them on your head for a whole day and not suffer from hearing fatigue. They fold up into a nice little package which you can squah into a nice drawstring bag that comes with the headphones. So why am I now writing after using them for well on half a year now? Because I was silly enough to break one of the swivelly arms. I was devasted, even though there was a "lifetime warranty" on them. Yeah right, pull the other one. So, depressed, I emailed the European HQ in Switzerland about my plight. I get a reply in MINUTES about contacting their UK distributor. I write to him, and within TWO DAYS I have in my hot little hands a new headband to which I fix the earpieces to. It's like new now. He even throws in two extra earpads. All gratis. Well pour cherry juice on me and call me Mamma. Thrilled to bits. I wuv my phones. I wuv Koss. Similar Products Used: Senns (closed and open can, also an earbud - can't remember the models - the good ones require you to have a strong neck I guess, not the most portable in the universe) B&O A8s - okay for the size |

THE SOUND!
Weakness:
Not sealed (just a weakness for me... not others) Best headphones I have ever owned. I just wish I could find a sealed set of cans that sound this good! I have been looking for literally years! Get these headphones! You will love them. I have let others borrow them, and within weeks they have bought their own. |

All the above.
Weakness:
Cord is perfect for walkman but short for any other usage The unusual design was the thing that made me to buy those. The incredible sound was definetely an added value. I hear very versatile music from opera to trans, never made me dissapointed. Perhaps there was too much bass on hip-hop, that I almost disabled bass and put full treble to get descent sound. Everything else is just great, no "holes" at any range. Like they said from 15Hz to 25KHz. Superb, magnificent, Similar Products Used: A lot of portable and digital studio monitors. Sony, Sunheisser, etc. |
