Strength:

THEY FLAT OUT ROCK,THEY'RE LIGHT, THEY FOLD UP AND STORE WELL. THEY ALSO HAVE TEMPLE PADS AND ADJUSTABLE TIGHTNESS ON EACH SPEAKER TO GET THE TENSION OFF OF YOUR EARS.

Weakness:

NONE I CAN FIND

THESE ARE THE BEST I'VE EVER OWNED. PLUS, THEY ARE WARRANTIED FOR LIFE. IF THEY BREAK,KOSS FIXES THEM AND SENDS THEM BACK FOR ONLY $6.00 POSTAGE. I HAVE HAD THESE SINCE THEY FIRST CAME OUT IN 1989. I HAVE ACCIDENTALLY BROKED THREE SETS AT HOCKEY GAMES AND THEY REPLACED THEM FREE OF CHARGE!! THEY ALSO USED TO MAKE THE GREATEST SPEAKERS ON THE MARKET, BUT DISCONTINUED THEM BECAUSE OF THE PRICE ($800.00 EACH IN LATE SIXTIES) I TWO SETS OF THESE ALSO

Strength:

Great sound quality, very loud, small size, collapsable, good price, lifetime warranty.

Weakness:

These probably arn't the most durable headphones on the market- But if you manage to break them- just send them back to Koss & they'll send you a new pair for free.

These small, collapsable headhpones have incredible sound for the price and size. Not only is the quality great, but they are also MUCH louder than any other portable headphones I have listened to.

Strength:

I wear these headphones bicycling (not something I would reccomend that most people do). Amazingly, given their odd styles (the second pad above the earphone) they fit great under a bike helmet. Oh, the sound. I did side by side comparisons with the street style and clip on headphones offered by Sony and there was no comparison. I always knew the Sony headphones were mediocre but I didn't think there was much alternative. Despite my prowling the local Best Buy and regularly checking out Crutchfield, I didn't see headphones made for portables. Now I know.

Weakness:

I do like a single line, but I understand that such a design is impossible with the metal band connecting the speakers.

Just bought these Koss PortaPros from HeadRoom, with the AirHead amp. Wow. Amazing. What was I thinking all those years wasting money on a long line poor to mediocre Sony portable headphones? I had seen the Koss phones over the years but dismissed them. Being from Wisconsin (Koss is based in Milwaukee) and having used Koss phones as a kid (you know, like the ones on the Mathew Sweet album cover), I didn't think they were any good. Well, I was wrong. Thank you HeadRoom for making me look in my own backyard instead of Japan for a great pair of headphones.

Strength:

Quality, sound definition, practicality, and they take up the least amount of space.

Weakness:

Length of the cord

A great pair of headphones. I first bought them about 10 years ago, and then lost them. I was determined to trawl through every hi-fi shop until I found another pair. Musically they are fantastic, but stick them in your TV''s headpone socket, (helps to have a reasonable TV) and forget about spending hundreds of your well earned cash on surround sound. These are, (as we say) TDB. The Dogs Bollocks!! you sometimes have to feel like turning it down because you actually believe that there is someone in the house else making those small sounds in the background. Its not. Its the clarity of the headphones. It has a reasonably heavy bass, but you have to remember its not just for music!!

Strength:

Clarity (after tweaking), robust design (you''ll have your doubts at first, but they''re actually quite sturdy), cool carrying case

Weakness:

the design might turn a few heads, only a 4'' cord (6'' would be more like it)

OK, the design actually came from the mid 80''s... but I don''t think anyone cares. Design: Erm... it''s quite... odd. When I walk around w/ these, I either get no comment (well, it''s not like anyone would) or i get "What are those?" Even though they might look odd (I can''t say ugly, because it really isn''t), the design is very nice... can''t really find much wrong w/ that. Quality: Luckily, I can adjust freq responses w/ my cd player, so I''m in the clear. By default, the cans are bassy (yeah... and recessed mids... whatever), but when I tweaked the audio out, it was perfect. My friends like it w/o the tweaking. I guess this part is up to you. As for loudness, I find it satisfying, though my ears are more sensitive than others, so don''t assume anything w/ this. Other: I can''t really find much more to talk about, since nothing''s broken yet or whatnot. I don''t care about warranty (though it''s lifetime), since I would just buy a different pair if these ever break. Note: i put 5 stars, cuz I rounded. I''d give this a 4.5-4.7 stars for overall. Value stays at 5

Strength:

Sound quality is outstanding. Bass is a bit too heavy if anything (you won''t need any Bass Boost on your portable player!). The extended bass has real weight though. Midrange is exceptionally clear and airy, although it can sound a little recessed at times with all that bass present, but really, what''s there is very smooth, and free of edge and contributes to a fatigue free sound, even over extended periods. Highs are very smooth, almost soft, but are spec''d up to 22''000hz. Basically they sound like ''bigger,'' more expensive headphones. You are also able to choose between 3 settings of ear pad pressure - not all that useful, but if you intend to use them for extended listening at home, it offers a loose comfortable fit for those situations.

Weakness:

Herein lies the caveat. The thin wires that enter the ear pads are clamped quite securely, but on two occassions this has broken a connection, necessitating having to dismantle the earpiece, which is glued together and requires destruction of the plastic cover over the wire entry point. A quick solder job on the broken wire, but now the connection is exposed and superglued in order to secure it. Looks fine and works, but a plastic boot (like that on a jack plug) to take some strain would resolve this problem). Bass can be an issue for music that is already too bassy. A somewhat overcritical review by someone who had absolutely nothing good to say about the Pro mentioned mids being recessed or something. He may be referring to an impression that is given by the fact that the bass is rather too extended. It''s also not the cheapest headphone on the market.

A great little headphone, far better than anything supplied with a portable player, and worthy of dedicated home-use phones, too. Not the most robust design (they certainly look good though) and there is an ''achilles heel'' to speak of. Lifetime warranty is pretty amazing, if it''s true.

Strength:

Perfect companion to the iPod.

Weakness:

None.

If you have an iPod you must get a pair of these! Fabulous sound from such a small headphone - and it folds up! Other people have commented on them being uncomfortable but I don''t find this to be the case at all.

Strength:

Koss continues to dominate in the area of headphones, I've had my Porta Pro's since 96, and they have been the most reliable phones I own. They have crisp highs and deep thumping bass, and are very comfortable to wear. If your unsure about the Koss Lifetime Warranty let me tell you that my first pair of Porta Pro's went dead in one of the ears. So I sent that pair in and they sent me a new pair at no cost, they definately stand by their warranty. Listen to Koss headphones before you decide on Sony of Aiwa......

Weakness:

I feel that they need a new look, but other than that they are great headphones.

Koss is the leader in headphone development, listen to Koss befor you buy...

Strength:

Clarity, good body to sound

Weakness:

price in uk!

I've been using these for a year for music on the move & found them excellent. Looked them out following review in SoundStage. Sound is clear and convincing. Not the last word in detail, but then I'm listening whilst walking/travelling on trains etc. Plenty of undistorted volume. I use with JVC tape & Pioneer CD walkmans. Sound with Walkman is good enough to substitute for real system if necessary - e.g. on holiday (I use Sony MDR CD1700 in my home system)! The only small portable cans that came near them when I tested were Sony's (that looked like eggs and cost twice as much).
