None I first switched to Sennheisaer from Grado since my Naim CDX/Nat03/52/Hicaped Headline/250/Royd Albions with Wilson Benesch Triptych and Asside stands was having some trouble with the grados. I liked the pulsy beat to the Grados but they were at war with the Naim Headline amp and I went through three amps and two sets of Grados (in one case the amp would blow, in the next the headphone) before I got fed up. There was obviously a destructive mismatch between the naim and Grado products and it was time to change. When I first bought the Sennheisers I thought they sounded a bit polite and remote, even flat and tinny. But they were very smooth and detailed to an extent the Grados never were. When I recently upgraded to a CDX/XPS I had no idea what I was in for. I had tried the combo when I had a 102/supercap/180 and thought the bass was muddy and overblown and ultimately I sent it back and got a 52 instead. What I hear now through the Albions is quite stunning, but the bass bloat is still there. What I hear through the Senns is another story. They completely crush the Albions and although these are fine speakers I now see that they are the weak link in my system (after all, my stands cost more!). The sound quality is the best I have ever heard in a headphone. At $300 dollars this is a good price. I agree the near perfection of these headphones offers more accurate sound than expensive speakers. Definite 5. |

Strength:
F***ing WOW. Not even sure where to start.
Weakness:
Will make any regular set of speakers in your house sound just "plain" in comparison. After recommendations to go with Sennheiser, I went with these bad boys. I don't have a local dealer, but with the majority of the reviews on this website being positive, I figured I couldn't go wrong. Similar Products Used: Some cheap JVC phones, Sony phones. Can't recall the model #'s. |

A bit Light in the Bass All i would say is WOW. These Headphones are worth every penny. OK they are not cheap, but you will need to pay A LOT more money in high quality Amplification and Speakers to get even near the listening experience of the HD600's. The 600's are very good 'phones. I couldn't seem to get them to play at the SPL level I like with the EarMax tube amp. Either that combo is a bit of an impedance mis-match, or it was the interconnect's I was using (MIT 330), or both. Similar Products Used: •Higher-end AKG's mostly, but I've also owned some decent Sony's and Koss'. |

Strength:
Absolutely incredible sound.
Weakness:
They come with a very skinny cord that I find myself needing to unravel every other use. I wanted to get a really good set of phones to replace my old set which, by the way, sounded damn good for $30. My first thought was to stick with Koss, but after spending countless hours reading reviews on who knows how many different phones, I settled on the Senn's. How was I to know that these cans would make me scoff at my home speakers? One word description:Unbelievable. Seriously, you need to check these out for yourself. Don't be scared by the price, you won't be sorry. Some say that these are too bright, some say that the bass could use some work. I agree that on SOME music the the treble is a bit high. Big deal! If I have to turn the treble down a notch once a week to enjoy the musical reproduction that these phones deliver, no problem. It's a small price to pay. I do not however, have any qualms with the bass, they go low, and do so with precision and a thump normally only felt by good home speakers. I also experienced the often mentioned issue concerning the fit and/or weight being uncomfortable. That only lasted 1 day, I have had no discomfort since. I would recommend the addition of a headphone amp paired with a good set if interconnects to all headphone users, regardless of the headphones being used. They do make a difference. I have a Creek OBH-11 fed by a set of BetterCables IC's. This setup even made a set of 12 yr. old phones come alive. As much as I love these phones, I do plan upgrading the cord with a Red Jaspis from Clou. Bottom line: I'm glad that all the time spent researching paid off. Very happy w/ the 600's. Similar Products Used: None. This is first pair I've bought in over ten years. My $30 Koss SST/pro's started acting up on me. |
