Strength:
Everything about them. THey look good, sound good, are built good.
Weakness:
None Excellent Headphones. I havent had any of the problems people complain of. If the sound is bad, its not the haedphones, its the source. These are great headphones. I do not use them for DJing, but they are still perfect for everything ive done. Similar Products Used: Cheap headphones |

Strength:
Sound quality is magnificent. Good enough for the music listener who listens to music everyday for hours per day.
Weakness:
Cheap plastic near joints and the cushion deflates and starts to chip away. The plastic where the joints swivel started to crack and I had not noticed until too late. Now the plastic is broken in many place around the joint and prevents me from putting the headphones comfortably on my head. The black cushioning that touches the ear is now degraded and chipping away. Also the cushion is completely flat which makes it hurt my ears because now the force of the hard plastic is against my ears. I have had these for about 2 years. The sound quality is amazing and they really do a good job of showing off the 5hz and up bass frequencies. I used these everyday of the year and for maybe 4 hours a day. The drivers inside looked fine and they still perform top notch, but Sony needs to put some higher quality plastic in the headphone joints. I will have to buy another pair! (I guess that means more money for Sony) Similar Products Used: Other cheaper Sony headphones which lasted longer! |

Strength:
Great for mixing.
Weakness:
None IMHO I think that there should be a ban placed on those who do not use these for DJing adding reviews!! OK that’s may be a bit harsh but these cans are designed purely for this application & as such I have yet to hear any other headphones that come close to the way these do the job. I auditioned loads of others; I am not going to start listing them as they were all worse. These little babies go so loud that even when round my neck if I haven’t "killed" the record I am cuing for drop ins I can still hear it over the one playing to the floor. (DJ's will know what I mean) I actually thought I had a problem with bleed through on the faders of the mixer until I realized this fact. Also just in case there are any "Audiophile" types reading this I do listen to music other than dance, but when I do, I use equipment more suited to "HiFi" reproduction, you know Rega, Sugden, Totum etc... Tell you what if you want to carry on bashing DJ equipment take your Linn/Giro Deck/Pink Triangle to a local night Club & see how long it takes for it to fall apart. I don’t suppose there could still be a bit of snobbery in the HiFi world to the name Sony, or am I just being cynical As it is these headphones do actually reveal much more in the music than a lot of the previous reviewers give them credit for. When I had them plugged in to my Roland keyboard I noticed more detail in the accompaniments than when connected through my Sugden amp, Totum speaker set up. So £70 headphones (one) £3000 HiFi (Nil) there then. OK perhaps this is getting a bit flippant, but I really can not rate these headphones highly enough for there intended use as a DJ tool. Incidentally I have not yet experienced the problem of the plastic cracking that others have mentioned; perhaps they have handled theirs somewhat rougher than I have. You should see the way a lot of DJ's treat their gear, it's a wonder that it lasts any length of time at all. As for the price, they are usually around the £100 mark, as any tradesman will tell you if you want the best tool for the job you have to pay for it. As it happens in this case they are not the most expensive headphones normally associated with the club scene. If you are serious about DJing then you have to check these out. |

Excellent Bass, mids and highs Cant hear a damn thing outside of the 'phones Handle monster volumes Stylie
Weakness:
You will need to learn sign language. Takes several days of long use to 'break them in' and the adjustment of the head band is really important. Wanted to get my hands on headphones that served 2 main purposes; 1) play some fat tunes 2) block out all external sound these bad boys serve both purposes nicely, and if you can get them for approx $200AU then they are certainly not overpriced. Although they may be designed primarily for DJ use, it would be a waste of such a good pair of headphones to consign them to 'mixing uses only'. I use these guys on a high end sony discman, and they crank. Other reviews have been critical of the highs, the lows, etc etc, but the reality is that if you really want to listen to music under "audiophile" (read wanker with too much cash and no friends) conditions then you buy a very expensive pair of floor stand speakers. If you want some wicked headphones that do a fabulous job, look pretty stylie, and cater well to a wide range of music (i've used these guys for jungle, hardcore, clapton and sid viscious) then consider getting these. Strength:
Very clear and accurate. Nice looking. Nice bass response at standard settings.
Weakness:
Get hot after awhile. Cord could be longer. I bought these headphones for movies and music in my HT setup. I moved to a smaller place and wanted to keep things a little quiet at night when the wife and kids are sleeping. First off let me say that I researched this a little bit. And every time I spoke about headphones Sennheiser was first and formost mentioned at the top of the list. But what I felt was quality for my listening tastes would end up costing me 300 bucks. So I was at BB looking for some DVD's when I happened upon the Sony's. Bought them with the thought of if I did not like em' I would take them back. Well I like them. I played "Behind Enemy Lines" in DTS and heard very clear and realistic sound. People complaining about not hearing the mids to highs are just that....high. First off turn off the bass boost because you dont need it with these babies. Second of all if you cannot hear the missle screach in chapter four, (Which is some very consistent highs for about 90 seconds), then your ears are damaged. I read the reviews here before plugging them in, so I made sure to take a listen to those complaints. The highs are there folks. You just need to turn down the bass a few notches because these things produce enough at standard settings. Overall a great buy for me. I am not big on Sony products, but they made a great set of headphones. |

Strength:
Great looks, deep bass, noise cancellation.
Weakness:
kinda tight, about $100 too expensive, gets too hot after a short use with 2 cups on. Hmm. Kinda mixed feelings about these headphones after 10 minutes having them on on my 3rd set of deephouse music. comfortable (most headphones are infact) but first noticable apparent advantage ot these headphones are the bass. It's nothing revolutionary but somehow having them on virtually full blast my ears are not ringing or otherwise hurt. The bass is deep and full (atleast with house music). Kind of a tight fit and I have a small head! I'm not completely enamoured by these but I don't hate them either. It's an ok purchase. Purchased for $200 Canadian. |

Strength:
1. Dedicated for what it's for. DJ monitoring. not for audiogeeks. 2. Great sound insulation. 3. Good freq response in ranges I want 4. Swivel mechanism 5. Loud coil
Weakness:
1.Boomy sound. not really sharp. 2.Fatigue cracks after 300+ hours. 3.Gets steaming hot in summer 4.Hairstyle is definately out. Shave your head. No hats. I am a professional DJ with over 500+ Vinyls and 900+ CD's I have seen most of the reviews posted below, and thought something is not right. Firstly, V700DJ is a DJ monitor headhone, not a listening pleasure headphone. So all those audiophiles (and wannabees) criticizing it for crap sound is obviously correct, but in the wrong neighborhood. For the sake of all the people intending to purchase this headphone: 1. If you think paying $100+ for a headphone is a lifetime investment, please don't buy it. It does crack and break. I am currently into my 4th pair in 2 years. I think of it as a consumable. It's the theory of " ..but there is nothing better to buy"... 2. If you want a crisp, balanced dynamics and freq.response, don't buy it. It is intended for monitor use in loud club envionment, and picks up key freqs very sharply. It is not natural response, but DJ's don't want natural response. They want to capture as much sound in the ears as possible. If you are a studio musician, buy MDR-V900 3. If you like listening to MP3's and MiniDiscs, don't buy it. V700 will pick up the compressed frequency region, and will sound very tinny and unnatural. The reason why they give you a bad set of headphones on MD plyers is because that's what it is designed for. Here are some personal tips: 1. You may have seen some reviews saying "Uncomfortable!"... well, either that person has funny ear shape, or has not worn it in long enough. I tend to feel uncomfortable until first 100 hours. After that, leather feels harder, but feels much more comfortable. I have worn it 6 hours flat without any problems. So, please write a review after you've used it long enough. not after you borrowed your friend's pair. 2. Fatigue cracks occur on plstic swivel parts after 300+hours. It happened on all 4 of my pairs, on both sides. too bad. Still usable. By the way, someone below said it can't be fixed, but in fact, good thing about V700 is that all parts are held together by screws, not glued/snap fitted like cheap ones, for the ease of overhauling and cleaning. I take them apart occasionally. Hopefully by writing this, I can avoid people of wrong field of occupation writing reviews about this magnificient headphone. Strength:
deep bass, trebble after you remove the filter. good sound quality.
Weakness:
uncomfortable, ear pads could use some help. Well.. let me start off by saying i bought these headphones because of the semi-great reviews i heard, and that my mdr 7506's broke. when i came home, i pluged them into my stereo first to test it. they sounded ok, little too bassy, not enough mid and trebble. so i put it on my computer, same thing. then a friend of mine told me to take off the fome pad and take off the filter (some kinda filter, makes less trebble and bass.dunno). they sound great now. but im dissapointed with them. they're heavier than my 7506's, they dont feel as good on my ears. the fake leather stuff on the ear pads annoys the piss out of me. dont get me wrong, i like the sound quality i get out of these, and i know they're for dj's so "thats why theres so much bass". but theres just to much for me. so im off to return these and see if i can get my old 7506's or the next model up. sound quality ect... I was looking for headphones for my studio and a friend suggested the SONY MDR v700DJ headphones. When I listened to them they were horrible. The sound was cracking even at very low sounds, the quality sounded like a bad reception on a radio. I put them down and left. Then I tried the MDR v500 THEY WERE AUSOME!!! I bought them, there great, even at high sound levels they maintain a great quality, I woukd give them a 5/5! Similar Products Used: MDR v500 MDR v6 MDR v300 |

Weakness:
I must all the same ad, that after two hours of listning, I have to ajust them because they tend to hurt a little, but after this ajustment, I am ready for another two hours. As a partime DJ, I´m truely blesed to have discovered these magnificint cans. I must say that these are my first "real" headphones, so I can´t realy give any comparison. After I red some of the other rewiews, I notised something, all the ones critizising the V700DJ, had not notised the two letters D and J at the end of the productnumber. There is a reason for them being there, and the reason is, because they are MADE FOR DJ´S AND THIER PROFESSION-AND NOT FOR EASY LISTNING.However I have used for both and find them extraordinary. Then again I have small ears, which is to my benifit. I use them daily, and they still look like new, even though I have droped them a few times on a concrete floor. When people have asked me if may try them on, I allways say yes, for I think that they should be alowed to feel the sound that comes out of these heavenly headphones. When they give them back they can truely understand how I can listen to them all day long. This is only after a few minutes of listning. They are expensive, but I realy feel you get what you pay for. The price given is in Danish crowns. |
