Great looking headphones, and sound quality
Weakness:
Beware, stress fractures where the cups swivel will begin to appear. And for me just after a year of bedroom use is no excuse! Let''s begin by saying I''m only a bedroom DJ that''s played casually at house parties. As much as I loved the headphones for sound quality and the fact that every who''s who A-List DJ uses them made me extremely proud to own them. THEN THEY STARTED TO CRACK! After just over a year of BEDROOM DJing the swivel pieces started with hairline fractures which degenerated to full blown cracks which affected the way headphones fitted the head. I tried to take them apart to SUPERGLUE these things together and now I can''t put the damn thing back because there are too many fiddly things with small bits and springs etc. I''ve lost all faith in these headphones because I paid a handsome sum for them. AND IT''S EVEN LESS EXCUSE FOR THEM TO FALL APART WHEN I''M NOT SOME PRO DJ ABUSING THEM EVERY WEEKEND. I''VE OWNED THEM FOR JUST OVER A YEAR AND HAVEN''T BEEN DELIBERATELY ROUGH ON THEM!!! So Buyer Beware! Anybody out there with same prob but managed to fix it, please EMAIL ME!! Similar Products Used: N/A |

Good for DJ''s: -Block out house sound -High power handling -Fold up design -Better than average sound -Good sonic detail
Weakness:
-Not for the home music enthusiast -Uncomforatable for prolonged use (BUT THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED FOR PROLONGED USE) -Poor soundstage -Heavy These headphones are terrific in some light and less than okay in other light. I own these headphones and I also own a pair of Sennheiser HD-600''s. There is no comparison in the sound stage and sound quality that these two present, Sennheiser wins. I am a DJ and an audio enthusiast, that is why I purchased the 700''s and the Sennheisers. The Sony''s are well established in the DJ market. Go look in a DJ magazine, find your favorite DJ, odds are he is wearing the 700s. Why? Because they are perfect for what he is doing. They are a closed design so that you can hear only the music you are cueing, not the house music (music coming from the speakers, not necessarily the style ;) ) Also, they are loud as s***! They have a power rating of 3000 mW for pete''s sake! Thats 3 watts pumping directly into your ears. No casual listener needs anything even close to that! The reason for such a high power rating is because the ambient noise at a venue is usually tremendously loud. You need a headphone that can be louder to you than the surrounding noise. The bass response is certainly notable. The reason for having such a low end is so that you can feel the bass as well as hear it. When DJing, it is important to isolate the kicks (or snares) in order to match tempo between the track you are cueing and the music playing out of the speakers. The strong bass these headphones provide are a great assistance to that. On comfort: They are terribly fatiguing to my poor ears when I use them for long periods of time. !!BUT THEY WEREN''T DESIGNED FOR PROLONGED USE!! 80% of the time when you are DJing they are around your neck. They are supposed to press hard on your ears so that they can block out as much exterior noise as possible! These headphones are a terrific utility for DJ''s. The sound is powerful and has a much higher resolution than almost all casual consumer headphones. A lay person would definitely be impressed and satisfied with their sound. But if you are planning to record audio at home or just sit back and relax with a nice cd, I would recommend an equally priced pair or Sennheisers, the sound will be as good or better, but they will be much more comfortable. -If you are a DJ, these are perfect for you! They isolate your ears from outside sound, they have hard hitting bass, high power handling with little or no distortion. Now -- choose wisely :) Similar Products Used: Sennheiser HD-600 |

1)clear and powerful reproduction of all sounds accross an amazing 5hz-30khz range. 2)price: wont find a comparable product for anywhere near $100.
Weakness:
absolutely none these are hands down the best headphones i have ever heard. it''s pretty much impossible for me to imagine headphones that could sound any better. i lack the audiophile vocabulary to describe exactly what makes these headphones so good, but i can guarantee you that these headphones will allow you will hear things you''ve never heard before. everything, bass, mid, treble, every subtle nuance, is reproduced with amazing accuracy, clarity, and power. just look at the frequency response of these things for crying out loud. 5hz-30khz?!?! the frequency range of the human ear is only 20hz-20khz, so basically these headphones are better than you are. you will simply not find any other audio component, headphones, speakers, or otherwise, that can reproduce this much of the frequency range. the overall quality and appearnce of these headphones is also excellent. if you can pick these up on ebay or somewhere else for around $100 you will never regret it. Strength:
Great sound quality, snug fit. Comfortable for extended listening periods. I happened to get a great deal. They also look very nice.
Weakness:
150 dollars seems a bit much, but you can find them for $90 or so on the internet, so shop around. Faced with a school project that would require me to be in my room at my computer with no stereo for more than a week, I decided that a new pair of headphones would be a wise investment. I am NOT a DJ, so this is the wrong review for people looking for a DJ''s opinion. After a bit of internet research, I headed to Best Buy with a $50-60 budget in mind. There wasn''t anything in this range, but a Sony model for $100, and the MDR-V700''s for $150. I was thinking about going for the $100 model, but then I spied an open box buy (previously purchased and returned)for a mere $70. Having had good luck with these sort of purchases in the past, I ponied up the money, and decided to buy the new Nine Inch Nails live cd for some fresh listening material. Having listened to these things for 5-6 hours per day for the past four days with a fairly wide range of music, I think I''m ready to give a respectable review. Sound Quality: Overall, I''m extremely impressed. While it''s true that these things can pump out some serious bass, pounding lows are not their only strength. Even at low volumes, I''m hearing lots of musical detail that I''ve missed (even on a pretty decent home stereo setup). I don''t find them to be bass-heavy at all, in fact they seem to be very flat. I''m not a big fan of super bright highs, and these give me exactly the music that I want to hear. Another big plus for me is the way that the closed design cuts out most of the other sound in the room. I''ve missed a number of phone calls because I''ve been listening to soft music and I can''t hear the phone ringing. You hear a lot more music when you''re not hearing any ambient noise. These would be nice on an airplane. Comfort: It took me about two days to really break these things in and get the headband adjusted just right, but now I hardly notice that they''re on. I''ve experienced a little bit of fatigue after listening sessions lasting longer than three hours, but for the most part I find them extremely comfortable. If you have a big head, they may feel too snug, but they''re just right for me. Utility: The fit is snug, the cord is the right length (I like the stretchy coil, it doesn''t get in the way as long as your music source is less than 6 feet away from your head). The screw-on 1/4 inch adapter is a nice touch, it''s cool how they easily fold up. Similar Products Used: Nothing close to this level of quality, but I''ve listened to my share of music on good speakers. |

Strength:
tension of headband, as a skateboarder it is nearly impossible to find headphones that stay on your head. Isolation is excellent (again due to the tightness of their grip). good bass, subsitute for a subwoofer away from home. sounds good with the Sony portable range, especially the higher end CD and MD portables, go really loud with my mp3 player.
Weakness:
ear pinch, which can be relieved by looseming the headband a notch or so, plastic hinges. Tougher than a lot of other phones im sure it wont take me long to annihilate them with their plastic construction. These headphones are exactly what i need. I live in South London, an area renowned for its constantly evolving bass scene. I listen to a lot of jungle and UK/US hip-hop and rap. These phones deliver the most extreme lows of Hardstep and Jungle without fatiguing the ear with the blistering snares that audiophile phones tend to deliver to excess. I also use these with my Laptop (also Sony) which i find delivers too little sound via the headphone port, i use a headphone amp between the laptop and the headphones to alleviate this problem and with the bass notched up a little DVD''s provide some real thrills through these even when on the subway due to the superb sound isolation. Providing tons of thrill on the move these headphones are not just for DJ''s but South London boys out on their skateboards and wanting to hear the bass over the noise of the traffic. Nice one Sony, providing once more for lifestyles that differ from the norm. Let the suits keep their audiophile phones they don''t provide much use to me Similar Products Used: sony mdr-v500, beyerdynamic dt75, dt211, sennheiser hd495 |

Strength:
Amazing sound accross all frequencies (for the music i listen to (these headphones have real guts) Sounds wicked when played at high volumes (which is why i bought them) Very defined sound space (as has been said before you notice thing in music that you didnt realise was there) I find them very comfortable (if just a little heavy) They look ''''the canine undercarrage''''!
Weakness:
I''''ve had these things for over a year and they have had daily use and have only just in the last month have i noticed some problems. The leather ear pad bits have begun to crack and the plastic bits that connect the headband to the left and right ear pieces have begun to crack. Mind you this is from maybe 8 ours use a day for a year. more than a good run for its money. I have looked and listened to many competitor both in the same type of unit (djing) and sad old audiophle-esk and not found anything which nearly comes close to these - pioneer/technics/etc and when mine finally break i will go out and buy some more !!!!!!!!! cant get better for 100 UK pounds ! Without a doubt these are the best dam headphones i have ever heard. I bought them for personal stereo/ work use and they deliver on demand all day long. I''''ll admit to getting weird looks when use out shopping and in town, but that doesnt bother me. Anyone thats asked to have a listen quickly gets a taste of what they are missing. I''''ll admit that I usually listen to electronic music and mostly at 11 on the volume scale, examples of music that these headhones really suit: Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Hallucinogen and all banging loud trance style music. I do infact also use them to listen to things like Rob Zombie and Marylin Manson which is a very different style of music but which these headphones perform excellently at. Do take ant notice of those ''''Audiophiles'''' who claim it sounds crap, those fools - as it has been said before can stick to thier own choice, i just wish they wouldnt rubbish these great cans. Very loud. Solid construction. Good sound clarity at high volumes. Perfect for DJ''s. Good price (this is PRO gear, folks)
Weakness:
Too loud (must take care to not damage hearing), silver color (would be better in black), really heavy, screw on 1/4 inch adapter- lose it and you''re screwed These are still the best DJ headphones around. They are sturdy and have a pretty good sound. Previous reviewers mentioned that they are very bass heavy. That''s intended here. DJ''s need to clearly hear the kick drum and they need to hear it over the monster bass bins pumping thousand''s of watts of bass out into the club. Weakness:
Heavy After using a pair of V100s for a long time I decided to get these. I shopped around and found that allsellelectronics.com offered them at a decent price $94(add $13 for shipping). I was surprised at how great these look. Although they are a little heavy, they are very comfy. And unlike the v100s, they cover the entire ear so you can wear them for an extended period of time without having to endure the pain of a medival ear torture device. These are esp. good if you wear glasses/shades. I cant say that I have tried other products to compare and contrast but I am happy with what I have. It sounds great. :-) Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Solid build, contrary to some, they are very comfortable around the ears. Bass and bass.
Weakness:
Headband seems to be a bit tight. I am getting headaches already. But then again, I do have a fat head. Comparing to my trusty CD777's I found the clarity of highs and mids to be quite disappointing. Sure the Bass is good. Actually it's better than good. It's great. Not much leakage. And the design is typical Sony-fantastic. If I could have the same sonic aptitude of CD777's with the sexy look of the 700DJ's, I'll be very happy. Similar Products Used: Sony CD777. 9 years old but one of Sony's best for all round sound. |
