Sony MDR-V700DJ Over-Ear

Sony MDR-V700DJ Over-Ear

DESCRIPTION

These Studio Monitor Series headphones incorporate high-end materials and advanced engineering to produce critically clean, exceptionally clear sound for professional and high fidelity applications. Swivel earcups enable single-sided monitoring for DJ and remix applications. Listen to house sound with one ear while you cue up the next track with the other. An auto return swivel mechanism brings the earcups back to the standard listening position, giving you one less thing to worry about. The 50 mm diameter drive units deliver reference-grade sound and enable superior power handling with deeper bass, lower distortion and wider dynamic range. The frequency response extends down to an extraordinary 5 Hz. 3000 mW power handling means these headphones can handle the most stringent professional applications, standing up to day-in, day-out use at very high output levels.

Strength:

people sucked in by cool looks and advertising will buy these. It's good for Sony, they don't have to make a decent headphone but people will still pay them lots for it.

Weakness:

Bad sound, too much bass, crappy bass, breakable plastic, they cost way more than they're worth.

Only people who don't know what music should really sound like will like these. People put them on and say "Wow, listen to how loud and boomy the bass is! These must be good" If they knew good sound was they would know that the bass isn't accurate at all and the sound is really muddy and crappy.

Strength:

Very sharp looks, booming Low's and clear high's, Great sound isolation,"Foldable",
Size, they're not huge, but neither are they small, perfect size if you ask me.

Weakness:

A bit uncomfortable on the ears if you use them for a few hours in a row, maybe a bit expensive, but i think they were worth it.

Great headphonze. Maybe a bit expensive, but if you're into music, and want to combine style and tech, these might just be the right ones for you.

Strength:

Great Bass, Exceptionaly clear voices, Comfortable, Impressive design.

Weakness:

None yet found.

Well first let me explain the comfortable thing, I do know about some of the other people complaining about comfort but these feel great on me (I could wear em' all day), Now as for sound I have too say I love them the bass is defined in every manner the treble's regardless what anyone says sounds crystal clear and still has amplification, One thing and only on thing I am worried about right now is their durability they look pretty stron too me but I'm still un-sure.
I myself mainly listen too the "electronic" forms of music, techno,trance,house,happy-house,jungle,club,progressive trance,dance,euro-trance etc..
Anyhow my final verdict is that these baby's are great comfortable, excellent swivel for dj'ing once you get used too a routine.

Strength:

Awesome ripping bass.

Weakness:

slightly weak mids highs seem muted.

These headphones have the best bass i have ever heard. Mind you it overwhelms other aspects of the sound but DJ's at loud gig's need the heavy bass. I love these headphones with techno music, they are unbeatable in this realm. Overall, I am very happy with them. Highly recommended

Weakness:

Absolutly None!

Definatly worth the money. I need headphones that could produce a loud clear sound, feel comfortable and boost my image when wearing them =). I got it all with these headphones. The cord is really long, but coiled so it's not to long to hook-up to your walkman or discman.

Ever since I got them people tell me it's like having a car stereo on your ears or when I have them on my neck in class or walking down the halls at school with the volume turned fullblast, people have told be it sounds like a Sourround Sound system just walked by!!

Definatly worth the money! I would buy them again!

Really Comfortable

Weakness:

Coiled Cord?

I just got these things today and so far, I love them. They refuse to distort except at painfully loud volumes. If you crank the bass up (I was just testing them) you can feel the things shake. They come with a nifty carrying bag and a screw on 1/4" adapter. Don't let the "DJ Remix Use" label fool you, these things are great. No one can hear what you're listening to, but when you take them off, they can double as little speakers.

Strength:

Everything!

Weakness:

Some may find them a bit bass heavy, coiled cord is annoying.

These are the best headphones I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I'm so happy with them that I don't know where to begin this review!

I'll start with amazing sound.
I tend to like a bit of a bass heavy mix when I listen to music, and these phones have the best bass response I've ever heard. Extremely bassy at times, but not muddy sounding at all. The kind of lows that are very clear. I'm sure some folks would find the amount of bass to be an annoyance, but I guess it's all a matter of taste.
One the other end, the treble is amazingly smooth, clear and crisp. Along with punchy mids, these phones make for a truly enjoyable listening experience.

At first I thought that maybe the sound might have been as perfect as it was due to my extensive use of the phones through my Harmon Kardon CD player, so then I dusted off my terrible old Teac player, and the sound was still immaculate!

My next test was movies. I picked a DVD which I had found to be fairly unimpressive audio wise (High Fidelity w/John Cusack) and started it up to see what these phones were capable of. The results were incredible. I heard things that I'd never imagined were there in the mix before. I have a new respect to the crew of audio engineers who worked on this picture. At times I could swear that I was in the room with Mr. Cusack. Truly unbelieveable. At that point I was sold....

As far as the V-700's comfortability goes, I love the feel. They kind of "clamp" onto your head which, combined with the closed ear design, makes it nearly impossible for backround noise to interfere with what you're listening to. The earpads feel very comfortable against your ears as well.

The one and only thing I don't like about them is the cord. It's a coiled cord, which makes for a lot of stress when you sit back. I worry if in the long run the cord might be severely damaged due to the constant stress. In this department I prefer my AKG K400's straight cord, but in every other way I prefer the Sony's so I guess it works out!

These phones might be a bit on the expensive side, but they're more than well worth it. It was the best 135 bucks I've spent on anything in quite a while!! Highly recommended!!!!

Strength:

Very comfortable, durable, good joints

Weakness:

Bag is a bit small, can hurt ears a bit after hours of listening.

I've been looking around for some good durable high quality headphones for awhile and decided on these due to the price, comfort, and sound quality. The bass is tight and the sound is pretty clear for its price range. When you have this cans on you can't hear anything else, theres almost NO bleeding at all. The only other thing I could ask for in these was a bit more padding to keep my ears more comfortable during hours of listening.

Strength:

Clarity and warmth and depth of sound; folds up; so cute!

Weakness:

erm...£100 hit my plastic!

I'm no audio-freak; I just know when I like something - and I like these creatures. I tried a number of Sennheisers and Grados et al. Some were OK with some music, and naff with others. But these sounds good across all the music types that I like to play - dance, trance, techo, vocal chant, classic...

And I find them comfortable, too.

I'm hearing details in my music that I never knew existed previously.

I simply like these. These make my music sound better; they're comfortable; they look good. Hmmmm :))
