Options and convenience are awesome, surround sound and speakers are great. Initially this unit was the greatest invention. I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. The overall unit itself had everything, all bells and whistles at the time. The surround sound and five accompanying speakers were really great. Initial speaker set up was a challenge at best, and often times had to be reestablished for some reason. Within less than two years, DVD's started skipping and/or freezing (including newly purchased) most especially previously played rentals. I am extremely disappointed that I still own this system because it is impressive looking in appearance and with all of the pieces still in tack and it's overall excellent condition, it's so dysfunctional that it sits unplugged with no where to go. What do you do with things like this? Similar Products Used: Samsung DVD/VCR combo (no surround sound) BOSE 3-2-1 (not even comparable..completely out of the same market) |

Strength:
Very well thought out controls. Construction of machine is excellent. VCR has fantastic image/sound. User interface is very well thought out... the engineers really spent a good deal of time covering all the bases regarding the set controls etc. Loaded with features.
Weakness:
DVD player mechanism is by far the worst I have ever encountered. At most, less than 40% of the DVD's you buy or rent will play on a Go-Video product. My buddies does the exact same thing. He sent his in for service.. which helped... but it still refuses to play discs that other DVD's have no problems with. Very well made constructed machine.. which is far from its DVD performance. |

All in one. Dolby Digital Built-in. Zoom-in. A-B. GREAT PRICE! Headphone jack.
Weakness:
All in one. 40 watts per channel. No digital Output. Good picture quality for it's price. Everything built in so all you need is speakers. I have had no probems with the fan(see above). Though not enough power for an audiophile's main system, definately good for a bedroom system. Similar Products Used: Sharp d57ou |

Strength:
Perfect system for bedrooms. Just plug speakers and TV in. Easy to setup and adjust surround settings etc. Excellent picture and sound.
Weakness:
Lacks digital inputs. This would allow other digital sources such as cable TV box with digital out. I was able to connect my digital cable box using the composite video and audio inputs. Really like this player/amp. Just add some speakers and a TV and you have a complete home theater system. Costco and Sams Club both have this priced at $249 which IMHO is a bargain for a full featured DVD dolby digital. Similar Products Used: This is my first DVD system for bedroom use. Planning on larger system for living room. |

Built-in amplifier
Weakness:
Amplifier causes the unit to get very hot. I originally wrote a review last June when I first bought my unit. The first unit had a defective fan and would overheat in less than 1/2 hour. The company replaced the unit, but I had to ship to Arizona at my expense. I've been using the replacement unit since with only nuisance problems. The unit still gets hot, but the video usually continues to work. Once in a while the video skips, pauses or gets blocky for no apparent reason. This problem is not caused by scratched or defective discs. Overall, the advantage to having the integrated amplifier is not worth the other problems. I suspect that other DVD brands are much better based on friends' testimonials. |

Strength:
Great remote. Built-in Dolby.
Weakness:
Freezing. I bought six of these. Four are still unopened. The first one I opened was DOA. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they repaired it. When it came back, it would freeze from time to time. I sent it back again and opened a second one. It had the same freezing problem. Similar Products Used: Toshiba SD2100 |

Strength:
Nice,mid-chassis mounted DVD section w/2X zoom, integrated Dolby digital output, full speaker set up controls (small, large, off,db level), very nice universal remote (w/ glow-in-the-dark volume control, joystick), unit lapses into "stand-by mode" when not playing and sends screen-saver to TV.
Weakness:
Push-pin speaker connectors, No S-video input (would be nice for Camcorders), No DTS or component video (available on their 3100 model),slower than my sony s500d in loading dvd/cd's, will NOT play CD-R's, slight amp hum. Went to COSTCO looking for a cheap DVD for secondary application, This unit @ $250 was $100 more than the cheapest DVD and $20 more than the best DVD that COSTCO offered. Based on what I have seen and heard so far, the value of this 40 watt X 5 channel unit is a no-brainer for me, given that my SONY KV27V66 does not have component video input. Nice feature of the Go-Video unit is that it can switch from on-board DVD to 2 external inputs (composite video) for VCR, camcorders, and video games. Similar Products Used: pretty unique product! |

I just recently purchased the DVS3000 over the web. It seems to have all of the right features and having the amplifier built-in is nice. However, I am having problems with the unit overheating because the little fan inside does not work. Go-video does not authorize any local service centers for this product, so all warrantee repairs have to be sent to the company service center in Scottsdale, AZ at the owners expense. Beware of this if you buy this product on the web. |

This Review is for DVR5000
Weakness:
None So Far Since there are no reviews for this newest unit from Sensory Science(Go Video) i wanted to address an issue discussed on this board. Two individuals mentioned they had to send their units to Go Video in Arizona for repairs at their expense. The DVR5000 is a combination DVDplayer and VCR with a copy button which in theory allows you to copy a DVD to the VCR with one touch of a button. The only problem is most DVD's are copy protected so this feature is very limited, although I did have success with one DVD. Similar Products Used: Toshiba 1200 |

Great picture , great sound . GREAT PRICE !!!
Weakness:
Freeze up when trying to play Perfect Storm DVD . It was a rental so Im not sure where the problem was . I suspect it was with an abused rental DVD as it had scratches and smugges on it . My first DVD player . Im very happy with the picture quality . My system is hooked up with my stero so I havent tried the 5.1 dolby yet . It already sounds great thru my existing speakers . Seems this was a none selling item at Sams Club so they lowered the price to $90.00 . I have seen prices as high as $400.00 plus so how could I go wrong . Similar Products Used: Also have Yamaha CD player . The CD player sound is identical to the $400.00 CD player . |
