Strength:
Perfect picture and sound (Like every other DVD player).
Weakness:
Buggy and noisy. This is my second DVD player and it works as advertised except for one annoying thing. Sometimes the DVD player will lock up and needs to be turned off and back on. This typically occurs when pausing a picture. The machine will not respond to any remote control commands after pausing. It doesn't happen all the time (maybe 2% of the time), but when it does occur, I loose my place in the movie and have to skip/fast forward to where I was. Also, it's very noisy when ejecting disks. The mechanism must have a poor quality motor. My RCA DVD player can only hold one DVD, but it's a better player. Similar Products Used: RCS 5220 |

Strength:
Low price
Weakness:
Can't play all CD-R's and some DVD's Got a great price through an auction site, bid.com $210 and free shipping. That's about the only thing nice I can say about the unit. They sent me the wrong JVC DVD player at first, but replacing with the correct one was easy and free. Bought it to replace a CD changer, but it doesn't do random between discs and can't play CD-R's, so my goal in getting this unit wasn't met. Decent picture, but not as good as my older Panasonic throught the same receiver and TV. Fine sound as long as it doesn't skip which this unit will do on about 10% of the movies I play. Now I have a hard time ejecting dics from slot 2...have to bang on the unit a bit. After reading reviews about other JVC DVD players, I am waiting for this one to quit altogether! Strength:
3 disc separate trays; optical out; quality of design; zoom
Weakness:
not Dolby Digital built-in; remote should be backlit Excellent DVD player -- definitely worth the purchase! I bought this from Vanns for about $270 delivered. I have been extremely pleased with the system. The sound quality is excellent, and it has never paused or had any problems of any kind. One nice feature is that it will pick up right where you left off watching it. Also, if you leave it on pause, it will go into a kind of stand-by mode indefintely. If you are looking to get a mid-quality DVD player, this is the one. Just make sure you get it at a good price. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Great picture, Sounds great, Zoom feature is nice, 3 D sound is great on 2 speakers,Compulink and watch 3 movies without getting up, PRICE!!!! FEATURES!!!
Weakness:
NONE REALY !!!! A/V Cables supplied are short, only 4 ft. But who uses those cheap cables anyway. Go "MONSTER CABLES" there is a difference. This player is a great DVD machine, not having a built in decoder was great with because the receiver I am getting has decoder in it. Take my advice its better to have it in the receiver anyway {more versatile}. Picture is clear on the Matrix looks great, lots of features for the price {list 450.00} street price 350.00. I got it also at "onecall.com" for 249.00 + 20.00 for 2day air shipping. You get 4 movies in the box, plus you're mail in 5 movies everyone gets. I have watched Armegeddan, Austin Powers, The Matrix & The Usuall suspects all with out a single glitch. I got them purposely to see if this model struggled with those tittles like some people have reported on other JVC models. Through all the menus special features and 2nd sound tracks not one problem. The CD sound is great too! I have a 2 year old JVC 32 inch TV. I am using "S" Video and I can't find any bleed through of colors, which I have noticed on an older pioneer. For the price of a single player you get 3 disc changer with great features like theater mode, display dimmer, 3D sound, {from just 2 speakers sounds great espceally if you don't have dolby digital yet} Zoom , 5 fast foward speeds, 2 rewind, as well as a couple of slow motion speeds fow & Rev., and JVC divided inner components to help seperate any interference. Perfect for 1st time buyers of DVD Players especially with price, but I definately not a low end Unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: Pioneer DVD non DTS, can't remeber model |

Strength:
Easy to set up and use. Had it going in under 5 minutes.
Weakness:
Have not found anything significant, that I wasn't aware of Since this is my first DVD experience, I'm easy to please. The sound through my Pioneer DSX-D508 is far superior to anything I've ever owned/listened to. I'm currently running the video through my 27" MGA TV and the picture is phenomenal. Strength:
Great features.
Weakness:
Design flaw. I purchased this product at an on-line auction, which is always a bit of a gamble. The player played the first 3 dvd titles that were inserted without a hitch. However, once the first audio cd (non CD-R) was played, the player was changed forever. After this, all of the disks and CD's inserted played for a total of 8 seconds. I believe that not only was my unit a Lemon, but JVC has a major design flaw in the processor used. I would avoid this player at all costs. |

3 disk tray.Clear picture.Dts output
Weakness:
Will not change receiver into DTS mode My 1st dvd that is dts format, couldn't be heard in all it's fullness. The JVC would not change the auto dts mode on my Denon Receiver. I borrowed a Sony, hocked it up and it changed the receiver into the dts mode. I even read the JVC's manual(not a man thing) and changed the audio output on the JVC and still nothing. Any ideas? Strength:
Cheap, functional. Multi disk.
Weakness:
Multidisk is of questionable use, no CDR support (burnt CD's) Compulink doesnt work on my older 770VX JVC reciever. Overall a decent quality unit for its price and will do the job nicely. Similar Products Used: none |
