This DVD player does what is expected of a DVD player with Panache. I bought this for its Multi-DVD holding capacity, I do not use this unit for listening to Audio CD's.

I have hooked it up to a Sony 27" WEGA and the picture is so great, that I have stopped seeing any films on other DVD Players (My friend has a Sony DVD hooked up to a Sony 27" WEGA) You can tell the difference immediately.

The 601 in the Enhanced Black mode is just Divine. Add to it upto 30X speed and upto 1/8X Slow Motion, coupled with Dimmer on display and clean subtitles, it is a dream.

The Remote is a bit clunky, but nothing the HK TC-1000 can't handle.

Great sound

No random play across all discs; does not play CD-R's; fast-forward on DVD's gets screwy

I got this unit to replace an 8-year-old Harman Kardon CD changer that was fantastic. Since prices have come down so much in CD players, I figured why not add on the DVD functionality? Because they don't play CD-R's. I didn't know this at the time, but if I had, I wouldn't have bothered getting it.

Worst of all, I had previously used my Harman Kardon 90% of the time to randomize across the 5 discs. This unit has a 6-disc carousel, which I assumed would randomly play all discs, but no! Why on earth would anyone in their right mind design a carousel without the random "shuffle" functionality? Apparently, this is also a common tradition with DVD players - I read that the Harman Kardon DVD carousel has the same problem. These engineers are idiots.

I am going to return this and go back to owning a regular CD player. If you want a DVD carousel for the sole reason of being able to change CD's or DVD's while another is playing, then this is a great model for you - superior sound, good quality (although I did notice DVD's getting messed up when using the fastest speed on the fast-forward). I just require a hell of a lot more from a CD player than what this offers.
