I have posted a few review on other dvd products. I must say that the Panasonic is the unit I intend to for the time being. It is missing many functions that I came to expect from my Sony530. But,the sounds come out when the mouths are moving. The picture quality is very crisp and clear. As far as sound, I can no longer stand to listen to my cds through my kenwood cd changer. too bad it will not play cdr disks. Of the units I have auditioned, this will be the one i keep. Most likely it will end up in my son's room, but it is definately a keeper. At this time, there are really only two points in DVD player: reference series, consumer series. It seems reference series starts at $800+ and consumer series is from there to $200up. in the consumer series, the only accurate differences appear to be between quality and flaws. For this reason, I chose the pana120. No it does not have all the options, but its playback quality is very acceptable. It gets 5* from me in this price range |

Strength:
Almost everything
Weakness:
(see below) This is my first DVD player, and I would say I'm more into the movies than the equipment, but overall, I've been thrilled with the medium (which means I'm thrilled with the player). By reading this and other sites, I was able to not only figure out that this model is an excellent value, but that the $279 retail the first Best Buy I went to was too high (I went to another a few miles away and got it for $239!). This player has problems with reading dual layer disks. At first I thought that the disks I was renting were scratched. However, I just bought Saving Private Ryan (which has dual layers because it has over 3 hours of content) and the player intermitently fails to read the disk at all. |

Picture & Sound Quality
Weakness:
Remote is a bit hard to operate I've had the Panasonic for about 2 months now and have had no problems with lip-sync or pixelation. The sound and picture quality are superb. I paid around 279.00 for the unit at Circuit City but probably could have done better on-line |

Quick loading, excellent overall quality.
Weakness:
Remote could be improved. For the low price, I would consider this one of the must-have low end DVD players on the market. Similar Products Used: Toshiba SD3006 |

REMOTE BUTTON SMALL AND HARD TO USE AT TIMES. I HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS NOW. WHAT CAN I SAY THAT HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN SAID. SIMPLY THE BEST UNIT FOR THE MONEY HANDSDOWN. PAID 279.00 NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. |

Strength:
Excellent picture/sound quality; fast start; easy hook-up; optical and coax.
Weakness:
I must agree with everyone else - the remote is less than stellar For the price, this unit is going to be difficult to beat. Both picture and sound quality are outstanding. I have run several movies through it (including The Matrix and others known to have problems on some players) and have not experienced a single glitch: no artifacting, no pausing or skipping, no stopping, and definitely no audio sync problems. All discs so far have played flawlessly. And if you haven't experience Dolby Digital in your home, you're missing an experience. This unit rocks in the sound arena. Hook-up is easy, changing settings using the on-screen menu is intuitive . . . what more could you want, especially under $300? Similar Products Used: Pioneer DV-414 |
