Strength:
Absolutely none!
Weakness:
It looks like newly released movies cannot be read by the DVD player. Panasonic A320 plays well if you only want to watch old movies. Newly released movies will not play in this particular player. You will only get cannot read disc. I think the worst thing is how much you pay for a manufacture's problem. I do not recommend it to anyone who is a serious DVD watcher or it will become frustrating to you to have to purchase another player to do the job. It would be better to buy a cheap version of a DVD player Similar Products Used: Apex |

Strength:
DTS, scratched DVD's
Weakness:
Poor reliability I've had my unit just over 2 years. It no longer plays reliably. It did well for almost 2 years but now behaves like the first review - sometimes it plays, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes when it is in "doesn't want to play" mode, I can open and close it and it may eventually stop giving the "cannot play this type of disk" error. Strength:
When it Plays, it plays well.
Weakness:
It very rarely plays/ In the begining this player (if you can call it that) has given me trouble with some DVDs. Now it takes me opening and closing the DVD 20, sometimes 30 times for it to even recognize there is a DVD in the tray. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Plays DTS and Dolby Digital encoded discs, on-screen display, component "hook-up"
Weakness:
Non-progressive, bulky remote First for those who have indicated that this player does not play the new DVD's, your dead wrong. I have had this machine well over a year and it has played every DVD I have put into it flawlessly, including Shrek, Pearl Harbor, Rush Hour 2. I (like other reviewers) suspect your problems are with the actual DVD it'self. Take it back to the store you purchased it at. Similar Products Used: Panny A310 |

Strength:
Clear picture, sound. Plays all discs without fail.
Weakness:
None found worth mentioning. Have had my DVD-A320 since it was a brand new model, back in '99. It has worked flawlessly for every DVD that I have ever played in it. I haven't found any weaknesses that would be worth mentioning, with this unit. Similar Products Used: None. My first and only DVD player. |

Strength:
Great picture and sound. Remote has good usability, especially the joystick. Output options.
Weakness:
No CD-R/RW support. Sensitive to damaged/dirty discs. Optical output not reliable. Shopped for months and bought based on good reviews, Wal-Mart price, and previous Panasonic experience. Very happy initially. There has always been some flakiness with the optical audio connection between the Panasonic and my Denon, but I'm not sure which component (or opto-cable) is to blame. Intermittent image and audio artifacts began occurring at about 10 months. The unit is 14 months old now and will not complete a DVD. Interuptions occur within 45 min as minor scrambled horizontal video scan lines and gradually worsen until the image and audio freeze and require a power cycle. Strength:
Intuitive setup, logical operation w/similar remote.
Weakness:
Maybe a little light? Sometimes, a product comes out that is so trouble free, easy to operate, and reliable that some people have to find a way to hammer it to look discriminating and intelligent. The A320 is such a player, and Sameer is such an individual. I'm sure no one will buy "anything from Panasonic" because some dip UPS kid dropped yours and it didn't work. Forget that all of their products are reliable to the point of being a "reliability standard" by many companies, their televisions are among the best in their class, and the prices are usually pretty low for what you get. Sort of the Paradigm in the electronics class. Read the reviews, look at the averages; Panasonic is affordable quality. Similar Products Used: DVDA120, DVD3000. |

Strength:
Easy Setup
Weakness:
No CD-R/RW Support...Very Dissapointing There is more than one way to hook this baby up, and it can be confusing. I am really impressed with the 5.1 decoder (Armageddon ROCKS). I guess I Shouldn't complain about the unit not playing a CD-R or RW...but it does have VCD capability. All in all a nice unit. I have been well pleased. Strength:
Flawless play and nice menus
Weakness:
remote should be backlit Well I like this machine alot It has worked flawlessly for all films I've used. I think people should remember that one good drop, like cd players and these things are toast. That is unfortunatly the fear I have when ordering online or from a catalogue, but some numnut from best buy could just as easily drop one when putting them on a shelf. So it's pot luck. This player has many good features but because Panasonic waited so long to release it it lacks some features it should have like zoom and progressive scan. Build Quality is a non issue here because unless your paying over $700 dollars your going to get an all plastic machine so you get what you pay for, end of story. Anyone running extensive tests on video and audio quality should first have some credentials and second remember this is a player that can be had for under $400. This player does everything it's supposed to do flawlessly. I've owned two other players prior to this so I have some experience. Wish it had zoom, progressive scan and backlit remote instead of illuminated. Similar Products Used: Samsung 909 |
