played through a progressive scan capable monitor this player is nothing short of amazing. my monitor is a mitsubishi ws 55807 and up until now i had no idea of its true capabilities.
disney's tarzan will blow you away. gladiator.....i found myself watching an hour of the movie before i caught myself.
i am truly finding detail in films i have watched several times but its like watching for the first time because of the clarity of the dv-37's amazing picture.
take the time to properly calibrate using video essentials or avia and you will be very happy with this player.

    Strength:

Great Picture, warm sound from audio cds, one of the best dvd players I have seen!!!

    Weakness:

    none

This unit is simply one of the best dvd players I have seen for the price. The similar Pioneer Elite DV-38A has the ability to play DVD audio, but it is nearly $500 more and dvd audio discs are not easy to find and might not even make it.? I do not have a progressive capable television, but the picture quality is still out of this world. I have it partnered with a Elite VSX-35TX and the sound is amazing as well. For the money, I would reccomend this unit any day and put it up against any other player on the market.
