Strength:

this player is extremly good value,i purchased mine for £289 which is $482.63 pence american. I don't profess to be a audiophile but this machine delivers crisp sound and a sharp picture transmitting at over 520 horizontal lines which is pretty damn good.

Weakness:

small remote, however i found it easy to use straight away which is what counts really. It lacks some of the features of the more expensive players but who cares anyway, i mean how often do you want to zoom on a picture. I have been reading a lot of reviews saying that the disc is noisy,i however have not had any problems and can't hear it at all.

brilliant quality, brilliant value great player worth owning

Strength:

great value, smart picture and CD-R. No problem any DVD my own (Matrix, Mummy, Saving private ryan, etc...over 30)

Weakness:

poor design remote control

DV-525 is good choice if you look for entry model to DVD world. Low cost and High performance is better than any other DVD player near this price.
Only bad thing is poor remote control design.
You don't believe below some foolish review which tray loading, DVD disk spinning noise is loud and give bad point this player. I don't notice any noise in normal volume.

Strength:

Picture quality, versatility

Weakness:

Noisy disk tray, flimsy build, remote

After pulling my hair out trying to determine the best player for the money, I decided on the DV-525. Sony scared me away with the reported lipsysnc problems and no component video outs (DVP-S330)for future upgrades. The reviews here also prompted my decision. So far, the player has performed flawlessly and has a sharp picture with very vibrant colors. Overall, I'm very pleased with the 525 although the construction quality could be better.

I'm looking to purchase a new DVD player.
I am seriously looking at the DV525, but, before I do make the purchase I want to read more reviews of the
product. I have been searching the WEB looking for test results and comparisons of other like players.
If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

All the consumer reviews here look great.
I gave the product 4 stars as not to detract from the ratings.

It seems like the only problem with the player is the noise.
I can live with that.
I try to find the price that you guy paid for from the site that you guys bought from. It's no where near the price that mentioned here. I remember someone paid $133 dollars ? when I went there it was $299.00
Could someone please tell me where to get it cheap online thanks. I already print out $50.00 rebate coupon from pioneer.
If you mind could you please email me

Please ignore my rating..it won't let me submit without entering the rating..
thanks

Strength:

Price, Plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs!

Weakness:

Remote, Tray Noise, Transport Noise, Menus, FFWD

I'm replacing my Toshiba 3109 with the Pioneer 525 so I can play my home-made VCDs and Audio CDs on CD-R and CD-RW. The machine does this very well.

On the down side it has the worst remote in the history of the world! The tray eject sounds horrible. The machines transport is noisy during playback as well. The menus look like they were designed by a two-year-old and the FFWD operation is awful.

OK...so this is a budget machine, but come on Pioneer, you can do better than this!

Strength:

Audio/Video Performance & Price.

Weakness:

None.

Excellent value. Typically discounted to $250 on the internet. Better downconversion on 4:3 TV's and faster navigation than the Toshiba SD-2109. The Toshiba has ever so slightly sharper picture and more vibrant colors. The Pioneer has slightly better audio quality from analog and coaxial outputs.

Strength:

Cheap price, all the necessary gadgets for a "normal" user. Who needs zoom any?

Weakness:

Noisy disctray, too small a remote without lights, almost impossible to use it in the dark.

I was in the market for an affordable player capable of DTS, found the 525 and liked this one very much. I had to pay 400 Irish pounds for mine (regionfree), which was very cheap compared to other the DVD players on the market. The picture quality is excellent along with crisp audio sounds.
