Great marketing dept... gets people to lay out over $200 for nothing...

Doesn't work after 1.5 years

This DVD player is a true POS!! Same problems as posted before c13:00 error and "No disc" error... I'm buying a new DVD player today and joining the Class Action Suit... I won't be buying Sony products anymore.....

DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL AS IT HAS A FATAL FLAW...AS NOTED FROM THE OTHER REVIEWS IT HAS A NO-DISC. CALLED SONY 02-26-03 AND THEY INDICATED THEY HAD NO COMPLAINTS..THEY ARE ISO-1400 CERTIFIED AND MUST TAKE AND RESPOND TO COMPLAINTS. THE REPRESENTATIVE COULD ONLY SPOUT OFF POLICY AND FINALLY TOOK MY COMPLAINT WHEN I ASKED IF THEY WERE CERTIFIED...(THEY HAVE TOO THIS IS A CONDITION OF THEIR CERTIFICATION) THE REP WOULD NOT TELL ME IF PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN LOGGED ON THIS MODEL. IF THIS IS THE KIND OF REPRESENTATION SONY HAS ON THEIR PRODUCTS, THEY JUST LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER...HOW MANY WILL THEY LOSE BEFORE THEY UNDERSTAND WHAT TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS....THE REP INDICATED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS MODEL....WHY NOT....IT IS A PIECE OF JUNK AND SONY REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!

well i guess its strong it only broke into 3 pieces when i smashed it with a bowling ball!

poor quality a lemon sony service sucks so bad. (its too bad because the front panel design was so easy to use)

i bought this dvd player because of sony's reputation and because i liked the looks of it and the features 4 months later i went to push the power button and it popped in and fell off. well sony only had a 3 month warrenty which was over and i didnt purchase the extended warrenty at best buy. well after a year and a half of use, it munched my lord of the rings directors cut dvd. so i finally got the disc out of it and it was scratched so bad it was unusable. like an idiot i put another disc in it (gladiator) and that one got munched. what a joke this product is.

It worked like a champ for the first year and a half then I noticed it would pause about halfway through the movie then continue on. I figured it was loading a buffer or something like that. Perhaps this is when it started to fail?

A 2.25 year life span is not good and I hope it's not within the acceptable failure rate range. I have an old RCA tv that is still going strong (faded but working) and never been to the shop...25 years old!! Beat that Sony!!!!!!

I was just trying to get some info on this player when I ran into these comments. Amazingly, my dad is running into these problems. He first got the c13:00 error message then it stopped recoginizing DVDs! If it's going to cost a bundle to repair, I will suggest another brand.

I have both the 360 and the 560 models. Both are now failing with ALL the known problems. Now neither will work. Four of us at work have these models and now only one persons is working. One person sent in for his for repair ... what a horror story that is ! Looking through the reviews I found this: Class action lawsuit For Sony DVD Players 1-800-440-4222 mgreen@gttlawyers.com I sent email and got this response ... "And, we are in the middle of class action litigation regarding this matter. Please reply with your phone number and address and we will keep you apprised of the litigation."

Short lifespan and customer service that likes to abuse their customers.

After 18 months, the Optical Pickup Assembly died. Price of repair, $198.89 (Cdn). Price of a new NS315, $198.99 (Cdn). Wrote a letter to Sony, no reply. Emailed Sony, referred to telephone number. Phoned Sony, customer service rep argued that I could not possibly have paid that much for this model and, by the way, no goodwill. That just about descibes the whole experience - no goodwill. Why buy a Sony, indeed?

Why we pay more for SONY PRODUCT, is it for better quality ? no, not at all just for name. SONY making money selling Name not a better product, I used to think sony is the best but i was wrong, they are almost same as other, having problem with most of my products and there customer service......!!!! SONY HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Panasonic Has the best customer service. Do not recomand DVP-s360, do not pay more mney for Name SONY, there are other better product with better price.

EXTREMELY SHORT LIFESPAN. In my case, less than 6 months (just after the warranty ran out.)

I bought this DVD for my mother for Mother's Day. Little did I know it would have SERIOUS issues less than six months later. Basically, this one displays all the symptoms mentioned in previous posts, namely skipping, stopping mid-movie, and more! I haven't tried Sony support yet, but from the sound of it, I'd guess I'm not going to have a lot of success. What a shame! I wanted to get my parents something they would enjoy, and instead all they've gotten is headaches! Come on Sony, DVD technology has been out for YEARS! What a rip-off!!!

It does not play mp3 or any other "burned" cd.

Well I cant believe so many people are having problems with their DVP-S360, it must be a manufacturing flaw that occured after the 2000 batch was released for sale. I have been watching dvds and playing music on my sony dvd player for about three years now, with out any of the problems that I have read in this review. It is still working fine....but I am ready to get a new one soon because this model does not play mp3 or any other 'burn' format cd. Every one should consider buying Panasonic....better than Sony for less money.

BREAKS after avid usage. Can't read disks and skips.

Add me to the list of disappointed customers. Seems like the BEST experience availible with this player is a little over a year of normal usage. Most often less. If anyone knows some info about the alleged class action suit against Sony I randomly see here and there email me at nipp0005@NOSPAMumn.edu (remove the word NOSPAM from the adress) with the info.
