Strength:

Can withstand dust.

Weakness:

Can't play a CD or DVD after 2yrs of use.

It is very dissapionting to hear that so many people have put ther faith in such a repitable company. Then to be ignored by the LARGE company when it's product failed us all. I currently own the DVP-S350 which has the same syptoms of the DVP-S360, such as: skipping chapters, stopping in the middle of a movie, freeze up and not resume. I am convinced the error - C 13:00 means: "see 1300 more errors"! To say the least, I am a Sony Home and Car audio customer and yes there will be a change in my household!!!

Strength:

'Looks pretty!

Weakness:

All show & "NO GO"

Ditto on the C:13:00 error. I can put in 1 DVD & it plays fine. Put in a brand new DVD(fresh out of the case) and get the C:13:00. My kids scrounged their change to buy what they thought (and were told) was "The DVD player to buy", only to find they were duped by a BIG NAME corp. with a pathetic product. My kids are SOOOOO bummed. But SONY does not seem to care. Just keep the Wall Street happy Sony!! Who cares about loyal customers?

Strength:

Good picture (when it works)

Weakness:

As above

I am like the hundreds of others here. I have had a multitude of problems, the most serious being that the player gets halfway through a movie and then won't procede on, it skips chaspters and such, and then I see digital fuzz from there on out. Of course a recalibration and cleaning didn't do a bit of good. Trying to enroll in the suit.

Strength:

Worked great for exactly two years.

Weakness:

Only worked for two years.

My wife gave me this DVD player for Christmas 00'. It worked flawlessly until Christmas evening 02' when we were watching a movie we had received as a gift that morning. The disc stopped playing and a C13:00 error popped up on screen. "Hmm, that is odd", I thought, "I have never seen that before." So, I searched for the instruction manual. No luck, so I hopped on the web and typed in my DVD's model number. Much to my surprise, this website popped up and I find out I have quite a bit of company. Anyway, after much trying, I could not get the player to read any discs. I went and bought a new Mitsubishi player today and e-mailed the lawyer posted on this forum about the class action lawsuit. While I do understand manufacturing flaws happen, the sheer number of complaints on this board about this particular product have left a bad taste in my mounth for Sony. lets hope they own up this problem.

Strength:

Honestly, when it worked it was great.

Weakness:

Inept Engineering, worse customer service.

Sadly, I have to add my Sony onto the DVP S360 junk heap. No need to go into all the details of the DVPS360 failure...it's the same as everyone else's experiences...however, I feel compelled to write in regards to my experience with Sony tech support. I work at a call center, so I am familiar with the ins and outs of how to get what you want...however, what Sony had to say when I called tech support was simply unbelieveable. They stated that there are no know issues with this player. I am curious as to what exactly has to happen at Sony for a "known issue" to be declared. Over 500 unsatisfied Sony customers have voiced their experiences here at Audioreveiw.com alone. They quoted me the 132.00 repair estimate. I was very patient and calm in my explanation of what I expected to happen...I explicitly stated numerous times that I was giving Sony a chance to remedy the situation and keep a customer rather than losing me to another DVD manufacturer...unbelieveably, they responded with "I can provide you with the address of the location to send your unit for the 132.00 repair." Being persistant and having loads of time on my hands...I kept escalating the call by asking for the supervisor of the person I was talking to...it was escalated from Carlos, to Paul, to another guy named Paul, to finally Duane. Duane was the only customer service rep that offered me anything. What he offered was a warranty upgrade on any Sony DVD player I purchased (or if I decided to repair my DVPS360). Duane said he would double any warranty period for any Sony DVD player I choose to buy before the end of Jan. 03. Sigh...that was the most I could get out of Sony. I am disappointed in the results to say the least. I see there are several DVD models out right now that offer nice features for a decent price...that aren't SONY. So, I will go out and buy a new DVD player that is not a Sony...and will never buy a Sony product again due to this experience. Nor will I ever recommend a Sony product to anyone...in fact, I will tell people of my experience and will actively champion against purchasing Sony products.

Strength:

Fits the style of my other Sony components.

Weakness:

I can't beleive Sony would produce a product with known diffculties.

Good features for the money, however Sony has not stood by this product. I'm weary of buing other Sony products. Seems I've been much more loyal to Sony, than so has to me. I'll get a new player soon, probably not Sony though.
