Strength:

Beautiful picture and sound.

Weakness:

None yet.

Before I found this site I checked the reviews on cnet and everyone loved this player, so I bought one in december. Every new dvd I have used has not given me a single problem. The picture is perfect. Some rental disks have pixelation, but only one or two blocks of pixelation and those disks always have scratches on them. I'm suprised some people are having this many problems. I've played at least a hundred movies thru it and I am extremely happy. The nuon works flawlessly also.

Strength:

Black level enhancement feature, remote is nice, 16x zoom is pretty tight.

Weakness:

too many to list, read the full review below...

I bought the Panasonic RV30 and wasn't happy at all with it so I exchanged it for this. What a huge mistake. The first few dvds played fine, then all of the sudden there was like pixelation or image "tearing". It happened like once or twice per a movie at first, then it went to like 5 times. It was very frustrating. I called Toshiba and they said look if the discs are scracthed or dirty and clean them and it should fix it, but these are brand new dvds!!! The pixelation is very noticeable and I couldn't stand it. Also the layer changes are sloooooow, and it's also on the slow side loading menus and such. I went back to Best Buy to get the Panasonic RV30 again and I noticed the Pioneer 333. It was only 200 bucks! I bought it thinking it would be crappy for 200 bucks, but it beat the Panasonic RV30 and the Toshiba 2300 big time. I highly reccommend you skip this player and get a Pioneer because I think the image in them is way better and there is no pixelation at all. If you like pixelation then by all means buy this pixel producing piece of junk.

Strength:

Great picture and sound when it works

Weakness:

Everything

This is just an update. This player sucks as does every other toshiba player I've had. I will never buy another toshiba product again. This player worked for the first week but then last night it started fuking up really bad so I took it back and picked up the player I was gonna get in the first place. The panasonic RV-30. I would recommend this player to anyone and everyone. But I will never recommend anyone buy toshiba, the only good thing I can say about them is that their customer support gets back to you in less than 48 hours when you email them.

Strength:

On rare occasions, it will actually play a dvd without any problems!!!

Weakness:

Far too many

If you have made the mistake of purchasing this dvd player, RUN-don't walk to the place you purchased it and exhange it for anything else or get your money back if you can!! This machine has a constant problem with pixelization and locking up while watching a movie or listening to a cd.
Toshiba told me to take it to a service center.
Read all the below reviews! Just count how many are complaining of the same problems.

I have seen the same problems with three of the 2300's. It is an inherent problem and probably can't be improved upon at a service facility.

I did not act soon enough and I'm now stuck with this piece of absolute junk. I thought it might clear up after a bit of time - WRONG!

DON"T be like me!! Save yourself from this "thing" and stay clear of it.
Get the 2200 or 1600 instead if you must go with the Toshiba brand.

Strength:

The feet that hold the player up....

Weakness:

Everything besides the feet.

This DVD player is absolute GARBAGE!!! My friend bought this POS, at first we both thought it was pretty tight with the sixteen times zoom feature. Then all the sudden pixilation started occuring on all the movies we watched. Then when the layers changed it went slower than molasses, hell my cheap Oritron for $129 can beat the tar out of this $299 dust collector. Not to forget the reason why alot of you got suckered into buying this crap is because it had that 'Nuon' feature that was advertised all over it. Nuon is nothing but a gimmick. It plays games that are supposedly 128 bit, but are somewhere between the original playstation and n64 games. No developers are going to develop for Nuon. They are too busy workign on Dreamcast, PSX2, GameCube, and XBOX. This feature is going to fail in a matter of months. There are so many problems to list about this player that I dont have to time to write it. A few words of advice for people who are thinking of buying this are DONT BUY THIS POS!!!! And a few words for the poor souls who bought it RETURN IT ASAP! BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!
