Just got this unit yesterday and couldn't be happier. It has a video noise reduction, video components, dts, ac-3, jog dial, back-lit remote, and the picute and audio looks and sounds great. I had the 2108 and returned it for this unit. The video noise reduction does make a difference. |

Just got the SD3108. I hooked it up to the Toshiba TP61h95 tv, and the image quality is incredible.. I used the colorstream input..(Monster M1000v cables), The image is very impressive..My only gripe is the remote doesn't seem to want to work at distances past 7-8ft. I am getting a new remote, but has anyone heard of these problem????? |

This player is excellent, especially with the 5 free DVD offer from Warner (if you can still get it). I got mine from Onecall for $437 shipped and they also gave me a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for reel.com (I had to call in to get it, their website would not accept it). Its performance on audio cd's is quite good, and it comes with a backlit remote, a "black-level" enhancer which works well, a neat zoom feature, a built-in DD decoder, component video out, and some other niceties. Gotta give it five stars especially the price and free stuff I got with it! |

I must say, I've been neglecting my job, friends, and family since I got my 3108 DVD player. The picture quality is suburb, almost too good. I have the unit running in component video into a 50" Hitachi Ultravision pro-jo. And to be perfectly honest, if the DVD itself is not a good transfer, You can spot it right away. For example, the new Paramount DVD release of Top Gun suffers at times because of all the smoke effects used in the movie's interior scenes. I don't know how to put it, but the smoke just does not look right. But, this is a gripe about the disc itself and not the player, which looks great and sounds amazing. I don't use the onboard Dolby Digital decoder, but I love the backlit jog/shuttle equiped remote. |

Very good - both for video and audio. I'm using it with Techics TX-30 and Energy Take 5 speakers with MIT 4 interconnects. Got for $427 delivered |

The best DVD player I have seen around. I used to have a Panasonic 300 and traded up to the 3108...absolutely marvelous.... I love all of the features. The remote is a little big and cumbersome but minor detail especially if you have a universal remote that can be programed to most of the 3108 buttons.... |

I too was impressed with all the features on this player, however, the first one I brought home was fairly noisy, with a high pitched whine. Not being too familiar with DVD players, I wasn't sure if it was normal or not. But then it began to click, just once, about every 30 seconds (thinking it might be that particular disk, I tried others--it was the same). I knew THAT wasn't normal. |

I picked up the SD-3108 based on some of the reviews I read here and in the mags. I love the unit. Remote is hard to get used to, but I have a new universal touch screen coming in that will place this behemoth in the box. |

When it played "normally", both the video and audio where excellent. That having been said. I've returned two units and am now conserideing another brand/model. On every DVD I noticed the following, wavering effects especially noticeable during the credits--black and white backdrop. You'll also see it in other portions of most DVDs. Also had two "brand new" DVDs skip a few frames and then go into pause mode; although NOT reproduceable. Playing a CD I came accross a section that can best be described as a very noticeable raspy/harshness. When I examined the CD, it had several scratches on it. When I played this particular CD on my Laserdisc player and a friends DVD player both of these players tracked this section with no problems. So I have to conclude, that the error correcting circuitry, on this player, is not up to par. |
