Strength:

price,simple,good sound,good picture,clean look matches my rx-v800 receiver

Weakness:

none so far

Not needing to many bells and whistles I chose the s510.It does what I bought it to do.I have had no problems.DVD works just great, music is excellent.I haven't had any of the problems that others have had. My receiver is a Yamaha and maybe that has something to do with it ? My review is positive. What more can you ask of a DVD player than to play great sound and video ? This little plain unit does that well.

Strength:

price, sound, picture, region code free if you want.quiet dvd tray

Weakness:

display is different from all other yamaha components, titanium colour: compare's with the new RXV serie but not with the older one's

why all these depressing review's. This machine has a very nice price, is easily to make region free, sounds great, and has a nice picture. It plays also cd-r and cd-rw. It make's no noise and is very fast in starting up the dvd's and dvd menu's. The memory of 5 dvd discs is a very nice option.
Oke, the inside is actualy a Philips dvd 710 with Yamaha audio add-ons. But who care's. It's stil a nice playing and good sounding dvd player.

Strength:

Picture and sound quality!, plays burned CDs (CD-R), easy regional decoding, user friendly, nice design, price...

Weakness:

For now nothing (we`ll see in the future)...
Or maybe one thing: there is no eject button on remote :)

It goes perfectly with my Yamaha RX-V496 receiver and Mission M70 series speakers.
Seeking on discs is fast, and the mechanism is very quiet.

I was interested in other DVD players, like Sony, Pioneer, even Marantz, but decided for this because...look at "Strenghts".

Strength:

Sound and Picture

Weakness:

Alarm clock style display, no auto power off

This DVD player is very solid. Sound and Picture are 2nd to none. Have some complaints about features that it is lacking but hey what is more important when buying a DVD player, the features or the performance of excellent sound and picture.
