This is a disasterous product. The first unit that we brought home from the retailer was DOA. The second one that we got as a replacement would not recieve the low end of the AM band. And we could not figure out, from the dreadful instruction manual, how to get an echo in the microphone input for the karaoke mode. This is a piece of junk. We will never buy AIWA again. I am giving this one star because that was the lowest option. In reality I'd rate this as a TURKEY!

Strength:

style. remote control. ease of use. sound quality.

Weakness:

none yet.

I just bought this a week ago and so far I love it. It sounds fantastic w/ all kinds of music...stevie wonder, tribe called quest, elvis costello, prince, sublime, nirvana, frank sinatra, and anything else i play, including my tv. The tuner for the radio is ok, the set-up for that could be better but I don't use the radio much so it doesn't matter to me. The tape player sounds great, even w/ old tapes. The cd-player sounds right on, though I haven't really played any 'scratched' cd's so I have yet to see how it will handle those. All in all I'm happy w/ it. I bought it in November from Circuit City for $235.

Strength:

Size, ability to customize sound, price.

Weakness:

CD-changer, karaoke function, game, beat feature.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my son. He loves it, but I must admit that it does have some drawbacks. First of all, the CD-changer seems to be very delicate and even the salesman said of all the returns on this model, that is was because of cd problems. I'm a big karaoke nut, but this one is the same as useless--no echo, etc. This model also has some useless features like a game and a beat feature that looks pretty neat but is basically a novelty without a purpose. As for the sound, it has two separate amplifiers built in: one for the subwoofer and the other for the tweeters. For the price I paid, $179.00, I can't complain about the sound and my son absolutely loves it. It plays very loud with little distortion. We haven't had any problems what-so-ever with it yet. I'd definitely recommed it for those on a very tight budget. I looked at several different makes and models and this one sounded the best in this price range.

Strength:

Bright large-character display, full-function remote, power, excellent cassette deck sound, fun to use, lotsa lights, tons o features, amazingly versatile. Sexy.

Weakness:

Needless "beat" effects buttons., Why does A 767, same console, come with surround speakers and better-looking main speakers for basically same price? No recording level knob. No Dolby(minor)

A great little system with big, ergonomic buttons and a revolutionary large, bright, colorful display. Look for the smiley face! Packs a punch: Lotsa power and low end if desired. Some needless "beat" effects buttons but otherwise a truly fun system, bursting with features, that will put a smile on your face.

Strength:

Audio clarity; minimal distortion at high volumes; small footprint.

Weakness:

Awkward control layout; shoddy design and quick breakdown.

This is a FANTASTIC stereo - for approximately 15 minutes. My stereo broke down within 36 hours of setting it up. Specifically, the CD player's load mechanism is shoddily built and nearly destroyed 2 CDs. This is a HORRIBLE product, DO NOT BUY IT. If you do risk it, you can look forward to dealing with Aiwa's customer service, which is just as ****** as the stereo itself.

Strength:

BAsS, LoUdThe reason I bought this system is because i wanted an inexpensive way to get powerful bass out of something small. I like the equalizer settings which are fairly easy to use.

Weakness:

It has a game that is on when you first plug it in which is annoying to figure out to turn on. When you take off the speaker covers, stuff can get trapped inside and rattle against the subwoofer which is annoying.

This Aiwa is not supposed to be high quality stuff. It sounds o.k. to me. The best thing is that the bass is good. It does blow out at high levels easily and the midrange woofer does not seem to work to well when you unplug the subwoofers. The main work is done down low and up high. I think the 3-way makes it sound better on the specification sheet. The trouble could be better but at 220 bucks it was good for me. I plan on upgrading to a louder more bass component system. Maybe some Cerwin Vega's. Well if you want fairly good sound at a cheap price, buy it. I don't know what all the other reviews say that the cd player skips a lot because it does not. Only if you have really scratched cd's. I take care of my cd's and dont have a problem.

Strength:

Flashy and sexy--That's all!

Weakness:

Terrible bass distortion
Weak Sound quality

Don't do it! I initially thought of getting this system, until I really listened to it. The bass distortion is terrible. Turn the volume up a little and you get this flat, distorted sound where the bass should be.

Aiwa choose looks at the expense of quality on this system and ALL of the other integrated subwoofer systems they now have out. Try checking out some of the Phillips/Magnavok systems, you will be pleasantly surprised (they are very underrated). if you have a little more to spend definitely check out the Sony MHC-MC1 50 disc changer system. The sound on it is EXCELLENT. Comapre it to the Aiwas systems with comparable power and you see that the Aiwa systems do not EVEN come close.
